Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 86: Chapter 85: Another Great Battle

”You’ve been defeated,” Xiao Yi said indifferently as he walked up to the three of them.

Heavenly Defect, Earth Defect, and Black Impermanence lay on the ground powerless, devoid of any fighting strength, unable even to muster the energy to stand.

Having used Rising Dragon and augmented by the Spiritual Artifact, Xiao Yi’s own strength had already reached Half-step Mysterious Profundity, if not slightly stronger.

In other words, in terms of True Qi, he was in no way inferior to these three.

Moreover, with the flames released by the green Martial Soul and the explosive attack from the fusion of twenty Fire Blades, their power was formidable...

Even Xiao Yi, who had the Asura Battle Body’s first layer completitude granting him a robust physique, had to flee immediately after only being hit by the residual force of the explosion and still vomited blood, sustaining serious injuries.

Let alone Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect, whose bodies were inherently inferior to Xiao Yi’s, having endured the explosion at close range, it would be strange if they weren’t severely injured.

The fusion of ten Fire Blades was already no less powerful than the Great Achieved Fire Devouring Hundred Blades.

Twenty Fire Blades, it was obvious that it was not as simple as one plus one equals two, the power was undoubtedly increased tenfold.

If thirty Fire Blades were to fuse, it would definitely be ten times stronger than the fusion of twenty Fire Blades.

No wonder, back in the Bloodthirsty Profound Monarch’s Cave Mansion, when fifty Fire Blades fused, they even caused those Prohibition Barriers to surge.

Xiao Yi could even imagine that one day if he was able to fully merge one hundred Fire Blades, Fire Devouring Hundred Blades would definitely surpass the Xuan Rank category, reaching at least above the level of an Earth Rank Martial Technique.

Earth Rank Martial Techniques, there were probably not many even in the entire Northern Mountain County.

At this moment, hearing Xiao Yi’s indifferent words, the complexions of Heavenly Defect, Earth Defect, and Black Impermanence went through a series of changes.

They had been defeated? The four great Assassins of Shadow Tower, to be defeated so utterly.

Previously, even when Heavenly Defect, Black and White Impermanence went on missions separately, they had never been in such a sorry state.

Now, with the four joining forces, they were still defeated, and by the hand of a youth no less.

After a while, their complexions returned to normal.

”Defeated? If we’re defeated, then we’re defeated,” Black Impermanence said.

”In terms of skill, we are not your match. If we can’t kill you, we’ll just let you go,” Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect said in unison.

”Heh,” Xiao Yi chuckled lightly, ”You think a simple ’let me go’ will settle this matter?”

”What else then?” Black Impermanence looked at Xiao Yi with a cold gaze.

”Do you plan on keeping us here?” Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect’s faces were full of disdain.

”Do you think I don’t dare kill you?” Xiao Yi retorted.

”You dare?” Black Impermanence said coldly, ”If we die here today, you better wait for the experts from Shadow Tower to personally come after you.”

Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect showed a look of arrogance, ”We from Shadow Tower are one of the strongest forces in Northern Mountain County, do you think we only have four Half-step Cave Profound like us?”

”Hmph, there are plenty in the Tower at the Mysterious Profundity Realm, even formidable ones at Mystic Breakthrough Realm.”

”If we three die today, Northern Mountain County will no longer have a place for you, Yi Xiao.”

”You, Yi Xiao, have just begun to make a name for yourself over the last few months, do you really want to become a homeless dog, enduring endless pursuit from our Shadow Tower?”

The three threatened him, their faces showing coldness and disdain, with no fear that Xiao Yi would actually kill them.

Heavenly Defect, Black and White Impermanence, were indeed among the four Gold Medal Killers of Shadow Tower, but that was limited to around Baiwu City.

As one of the major powers in Northern Mountain County, Shadow Tower had Assassins spread throughout, naturally with even stronger Martial Artists.

”Kid, you better not do anything foolish and just let us go if you know what’s good for you,” the three struggled to stand up from the ground and prepared to leave, saying this as they went.

”Hmph,” Xiao Yi snorted coldly, stepped forward, and struck a palm towards Black Impermanence.

”Puh.” Black Impermanence spit out a mouthful of bloody spittle and was sent flying instantly, already lifeless when he fell to the ground.

Xiao Yi had shattered his heart channel.

”You...” Heavenly Defect was immediately shocked, looking at Xiao Yi in horror, ”You really aren’t afraid of Shadow Tower’s retaliation?”

”Ridiculous,” Xiao Yi scoffed, ”If I really let you go, the Assassins from your Shadow Tower would be the ones to trouble me.”

”What do you mean?” Heavenly Defect showed anger.

”Your empty words might deceive others, but me? You’re far off,” Xiao Yi said coldly, ”Shadow Tower indeed has Assassins at the Mysterious Profundity Realm and even at the Mystic Breakthrough Realm, but such high-level powerhouses are not something a group of bandit leaders can afford to hire.”

”The price they offered could only afford to hire the four of you. If the mission fails, the bounty is returned; if you die during the mission, Shadow Tower will confiscate the bounty as compensation for the four of you dying.”

”You all died, the bandits must have lost a fortune, huh? Whether they can scrape together enough money to hire an assassin above the Mysterious Profundity Realm is still uncertain.”

Xiao Yi looked at Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect with a face full of mockery.

”You’re talking nonsense,” Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect stubbornly said, ”If we were to die, the strong ones in the tower would absolutely not let you go.”

”Still trying to deceive me,” Xiao Yi shook his head and said, ”The Shadow Tower is an assassin organization, isn’t it? If there’s no profit, would the assassins in your tower be willing to make a move? Hehe, do you take me for a fool, or do you consider yourself one?”

”Assassins choose their profession, if not for profit, who would become one. Without profit, who would strike. Of course, there are special circumstances. Perhaps, the Tower Master of the Shadow Tower is your father, or maybe, you have powerful backing within the Shadow Tower.”

Xiao Yi sneered and flames condensed in his hand.

The two lines he said at the back were just flippant remarks. If these four truly had powerful backing, they wouldn’t be so miserable.

Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect’s eyes widened in disbelief, ”Yi Xiao, how could you know so much about our Shadow Tower, could it be that you were once an assassin in our ranks?”

”No... it’s impossible, you’re too young to be an assassin.”

The two looked at the flames in Xiao Yi’s hand with a face full of terror, ”No... you can’t kill us...”

They couldn’t finish their words before Xiao Yi’s flames were thrown, killing both of them.

As of now, the four renowned assassins of the Shadow Tower in the vicinity of Baiwu City—Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect, Black Impermanence, White Impermanence—were dead.

”Whew...” Xiao Yi exhaled a breath of turbid air, slightly suppressing the injuries inside his body.

He could have ended this battle more easily, initially. However, he preferred a more spirited and unrestrained fight.

As for the injuries, they were neither heavy nor light and didn’t impact him much; they would heal naturally in a few days.

At this moment, he slightly turned and prepared to leave.

Just then, the ground suddenly began shaking violently.

”Hm?” Xiao Yi frowned and moved his feet quickly to retreat.

In the next second, two thick vines suddenly burst from the ground with great speed.

The vines were extremely large, and intertwined to almost completely block the entire road.

”You killed my people from the Shadow Tower, and you think you can just walk away?”

A mist-like voice suddenly floated in the air.

Xiao Yi’s mouth curved into a cold smile, ”Your Excellency has been watching from the shadows for so long, not even stepping in when Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect were killed. I thought you would never show yourself.”

Xiao Yi had already noticed that there was another person hiding in the shadows. However, that person seemed very powerful and he only noticed them when the battle was nearly over.

He knew there would be another great battle, so he didn’t bother with the corpses of Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect or take their Qiankun Bags.

He feigned departure only to force the person lurking in the shadows to show themselves.

”Those four wastes only bring shame to our Shadow Tower, I naturally would not lift a finger to save them.”

The voice came through the air again.

”If you want Yi’s life, then show yourself,” Xiao Yi said indifferently.

Suddenly, numerous green leaves began to drift down from mid-air.

The drifting leaves were like dancing snowflakes, quite beautiful.

But within this beauty, lethal killing intent was concealed.

Everything the green leaves touched was sliced apart.

Hissing sounds ensued as a nearby boulder was quickly cut into a heap of rubble in just a few seconds.

”Hm?” Xiao Yi’s brow furrowed, and flames surged out from his body, swiftly burning the nearby green leaves to ash.

”It seems you do have some skills.”

At this time, a figure floated down amidst the countless green leaves. The leaves whirled around him, like a swarm of green sprites.

He appeared young and graceful.

A youth of about 17 or 18 years old, with handsome features and a distinguished air.

”Who are you?” Xiao Yi asked, his expression puzzled.

”Zhong Wuyou.”

”Zhong Wuyou?” Xiao Yi furrowed his brow and after a moment, showed a slight surprise, ”Zhong Wuyou? The Young Master of Shadow Tower?”

Xiao Yi couldn’t help but feel speechless on the inside; earlier he was mocking the idea that the Tower Master of the Shadow Tower could be the father of Heavenly Defect and Earth Defect. Now, it turns out, their son really did show up.
