Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 53: Chapter 52: Rush to the Family

In the end, it was still the Fourth Elder who truly killed Murong Huai.

Their battle was originally a draw, in balance, and it was Xiao Yi who broke that balance, allowing the Fourth Elder to sweep through and kill him in one fell swoop.

The might of a Mid-level Xuan Rank Martial Technique was certainly not something that could be withstood by flesh and blood alone.

If Murong Huai had used his True Qi to defend even slightly, the Mountain Shattering Slash would have definitely not injured him, especially since the gap between Xiao Yi’s Cultivation and his was too wide.

It can only be said that it was Murong Huai’s own carelessness to blame.

”Xiao Yi,” the Fourth Elder suddenly looked at Xiao Yi and said, ”in the Council Hall earlier, when you made a gesture to me to stall for time, I felt a strange force behind me. Within a few minutes, it dissipated the Black Ink Mantra Martial Soul Power in my body.”

The Sixth Elder also showed a puzzled expression and said, ”I had the same feeling, what exactly happened?”

”It was the power of the Fire Control Beast, able to burn away the special effects of other people’s Martial Souls.”

Xiao Yi casually made up an excuse. The Ice Phoenix Sword and the Taiyin and Taiyang Eyes were by no means ordinary items, and he absolutely couldn’t reveal them lightly.

It wasn’t that he didn’t trust the two elders, but, until he had sufficient power to protect himself, he couldn’t reveal these trump cards.

The Fourth Elder didn’t doubt Xiao Yi’s words and nodded, saying, ”Although the Fire Control Beast is the lowest grade of Martial Souls, it ultimately has its uses.”

The Sixth Elder hurriedly said, ”Xiao Yi, quickly help the Steward and our clansmen recover their Cultivation.”

”No,” Xiao Yi shook his head and said, ”with so many people, it would take who knows how long to resolve the suppression of the Black Ink Mantra for all of them. In any case, in just a few hours, the suppressive effect will vanish, and they will naturally recover their strength.”

Xiao Yi looked anxious and said, ”Just now, from what Murong Huai said, it seems the Murong Family is ready to go to war with the Xiao Family. I have to hurry back to my clan.”

The Fourth Elder laughed and said, ”You cheeky kid, you’re worried about Yiyi, aren’t you?”

”Don’t worry,” the Sixth Elder patted Xiao Yi’s shoulder and said, ”with the Great Elder and Second Elder present in the family, the Murong Family’s people won’t be able to stir up any trouble.”

Xiao Yi shook his head, ”I can’t be at ease. I always feel that something bad is going to happen.”

The Fourth Elder said, ”That’s your concern clouding your judgment.”

Xiao Yi shook his head, ”I will patrol around the mining veins to see if there are any Murong Family people hiding, and then I will immediately head back to the clan.”

Seeing Xiao Yi’s solemn expression, the two elders did not say much more and began to check around.

After all, now that all clansmen were without strength, if the Murong Family’s people were lying in ambush, those within the mining veins would be in great danger.

Once the two elders left, Xiao Yi went over to Murong Huai’s corpse and absorbed his Martial Soul Power.

After that, Xiao Yi returned to the Council Hall and rummaged through the eight Stewards’ bodies, conveniently absorbing their Martial Soul Power as well.

Fortunately, the vortex of the Taiyin and Taiyang Eyes was invisible and could not be seen with the naked eye.

And the Stewards of the Xiao Family inside the Council Hall were temporarily without Cultivation, unable to sense what Xiao Yi was doing. They thought Xiao Yi was searching for Qiankun Bags on the bodies of the Murong Family Stewards.

Xiao Yi felt it for a moment, his Fire Control Beast Martial Soul was still yellow, with no advancement, but the color had deepened quite a bit.

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, the Seven-Colored Martial Souls, the disparity between each level was enormous, not so easy to advance.

Within the entire Purple Cloud City, no one possessed a green Martial Soul, nor had one ever appeared. It was conceivable that a green Martial Soul must be very strong and difficult to comprehend, its power far surpassing that of a yellow Martial Soul.

Xiao Yi guessed that if he could absorb another ten or so yellow Martial Souls, he should be able to advance.

After searching the surroundings, not finding anyone from the Murong Family, Xiao Yi prepared to leave.

At this moment, the Fourth and Sixth Elders approached Xiao Yi and said, ”Xiao Yi, you go ahead. We’ll watch over our clan members here, and as soon as they’ve recovered their strength, we’ll immediately rush back to the clan.”

The clan members in the vein had all lost their Cultivation and naturally needed protection.

”Alright, I’ll go ahead.” Xiao Yi nodded his head and immediately set off.

The Fourth Elder whistled, and a fine horse neighed, quickly running over.

It’s worth mentioning that this fine horse was the same one Xiao Yi had ridden to the mine. Although Xiao Yi had abandoned it to travel on foot, it had still made its own way back to the mine.

The Xiao Family’s fine horses were all trained to find their way.

”Riding a horse is too slow, I can just run back to the clan myself,” said Xiao Yi, and with an explosive sound from his feet, he had left the mine in just a few breaths.

”What a fast speed,” remarked the Fourth Elder, looking at Xiao Yi’s already disappeared figure with astonishment. ”This kid’s use of his Martial Soul and control of the flames far surpasses our imagination.”

The Sixth Elder laughed and said, ”Otherwise, how could he be a Martial Arts genius? Your astonishment, it merely shows that you are a fool.”

”Who are you calling a fool...” The Fourth Elder’s face darkened as he began to argue with the Sixth Elder.

.....

The Meteorite Mountain Range lies a hundred li to the south of Purple Cloud City. But that’s a straight-line distance, and many forests and mountains lie in between. The actual journey is, in fact, several hundred li.

Therefore, even if traveling on horseback, it would take almost a day’s time.

Although riding a horse is more comfortable, Xiao Yi did not want to wait that long. For some reason, he felt an unexplainable restlessness in his heart right now, as if something bad might happen.

It was a kind of intuition, a prediction of an unknown crisis.

But the Xiao Family was one of the Three Great Families of Purple Cloud City. Moreover, even with the Family Head missing for many years, no other forces dared to provoke them, proving the Xiao Family’s strength.

Especially the presence of the Great Elder and the Second Elder meant that no one dared to shake the Xiao Family.

Xiao Yi had once heard a rumor; years ago, the Jiang Family attempted to take advantage of the Xiaol Family Head’s disappearance to launch a major attack on the Xiao Family. However, in the end, the Great Elder alone made the entire Jiang Family retreat without a fight, completely dispelling their ambitions.

The Xiao Family was the only one among the Three Great Families with two Innate Ninth Layer Martial Artists. The remaining two, the Jiang Family and the Murong Family, only had their Family Heads as Innate Ninth Layer Martial Artists.

Under normal circumstances, nothing would befall the Xiao Family.

However, Xiao Yi trusted his intuition even more, and his intuition was rarely wrong. And the strength of his intuition this time, making him so anxious, proved it even more unlikely to be incorrect.

So he couldn’t wait to rush back to his clan.

Traveling at full speed, even using the Rising Dragon, his velocity soared to its limits, like a fiery red gale speeding forth.

About four hours later, Xiao Yi finally rushed back to Purple Cloud City.

As soon as he entered the city, Xiao Yi immediately felt that the atmosphere was very wrong, a sense of oppression and grimness drifting in the air.

Suddenly, a huge Fire Blade shot into the sky, producing a thunderous sound above Purple Cloud City.

The giant Fire Blade had arisen from the direction of the Xiao Mansion.

”Not good, the battle has indeed started,” Xiao Yi’s face turned grim, and with a step, he immediately headed toward his clan.
