Chapter 61: Chapter 60: Holy Moon Sect

”Sky-splitting Sword Sect?” Xiao Yi and the other elders exclaimed in surprise at the same time.

Xiao Yi had never left Purple Cloud City and knew very little about the many things in the world.

The other elders showed expressions of admiration and longing.

The Great Elder said, ”The Sky-splitting Sword Sect is the number one sect of Northern Mountain County, and it is also the Martial Arts Holy Land that all martial artists in Northern Mountain County aspire to.”

”Only those with exceptional talent have the chance to enter there to cultivate; even an ordinary disciple within their ranks is a supreme genius, and any of their elders are powerful martial artists with profound cultivation.”

”If Xiao Yi, you can enter the Sky-splitting Sword Sect, then the Northern Mountain Murong Family will not dare to trouble you.”

”The Sky-splitting Sword Sect is that formidable?” Xiao Yi was startled.

The Northern Mountain Murong Family, such a colossal force, would also not dare to offend the Sky-splitting Sword Sect?

The Great Elder laughed and said, ”You have never been outside of Purple Cloud City, not knowing how wonderful and filled with hidden dragons and crouching tigers the outside world is.”

”Purple Cloud City is but a small city living in peace, unable to rank even among the one hundred and fifty cities of Northern Mountain County. The strongest martial artist you have seen is at best at the Innate Realm, no, the Mysterious Profundity Realm.”

”But for those truly great families and powerful forces, the Mysterious Profundity Realm is just a part that serves them. The powerful Mystic Breakthrough Realm, with the strength of a single person capable of matching ten thousand, the Earth Origin Realm, and even stronger warriors, you may encounter all of them in the future.

”The Sky-splitting Sword Sect is a sect that even the Northern Mountain County King respects greatly; you can imagine their strength.”

Having said that, the Great Elder looked earnestly at Xiao Yi and said, ”Xiao Yi, your talent is the greatest I have ever seen in my life. Entering the Sky-splitting Sword Sect to cultivate will certainly not be difficult for you.”

”Heh.” Xiao Yi gave a self-deprecating laugh and said, ”Does this make me the deserter, the lost dog seeking to escape?”

In fact, even if there had been no matter with the Northern Mountain Murong Family, Xiao Yi had long wanted to venture out and broaden his horizons.

However, it was not his wish to leave under such circumstances.

But now, he was after all Xiao Yi of the Xiao Family, with attached hearts, with people that mattered to him, he must consider them and also think of his family.

If he did not leave, it would only cause the Third Elder and the other elders difficulty and worry.

Seeing the self-mockery on Xiao Yi’s face, the Great Elder’s smile ceased, and his expression became solemn.

Scarcely had the Xiao Family’s crisis been resolved, largely due to Xiao Yi’s effort, but now, this leading genius of the Xiao Family was being forced into a position where he had no choice but to flee.

In the end, it was because the Xiao Family was too weak and lacked the strength to protect Xiao Yi.

For this, the elders felt considerable guilt, yet were helpless to do anything about it.

Xiao Yi glanced at the guilty expressions on the elders’ faces, shook his head silently, and thought, ”Why should the elders worry so?”

Xiao Yi immediately cast aside the displeasure and self-mockery on his face, reverting to his usual confident and faint smile.

”It’s still that same sentence,” Xiao Yi suddenly said seriously.

”Hm?” The elders all raised their heads to look towards Xiao Yi.

Xiao Yi said with a faint smile, ”Look after Yiyi for me. Whether it takes two or three years, or five or six years, you will hear about me making a name for myself in Northern Mountain County. I will return, surpassing the position of the Northern Mountain Murong Family.”

”Eh,” The elders’ expressions suddenly changed, and they seemed hesitant to speak.

”What’s wrong? Don’t you trust me?” Xiao Yi asked with a smile.

”It’s not that,” the Great Elder shook his head and said, ”You are not someone who speaks thoughtlessly. So far, you have never let us down in anything you’ve promised. With your talent, given enough time, you will surely become a famed martial artist.”

”It’s just...” The Great Elder faltered.

Finally, it was the Third Elder who took out a token from within his robe, handed it to Xiao Yi, and revealed the situation about Yiyi.

Hearing this, Xiao Yi’s expression suddenly changed, but he masked it well, maintaining his calm, ”Yiyi has been taken away?”

Xiao Yi glanced at the object in his hand, a token, bright white all over, with the words ”Holy Moon Sect” inscribed on the front, and a pure, innocent full moon on the back.

”Do you know of this Holy Moon Sect?” Xiao Yi asked.

The elders shook their heads one after another. ”We don’t know, haven’t even heard of it. But one look, and you know it’s not some obscure, nameless little sect. You might come across it during your travels.”

Although Xiao Yi was good at hiding his feelings, the Third Elder, who knew him well, still noticed the change in his expression.

”Yii’er,” the Third Elder said consolingly, ”I was right beside Yiyi at the time, and I roughly heard some of their conversation. If I am not mistaken, that powerful martial artist was interested in taking Yiyi as a disciple. You needn’t worry...”

”I am not worried,” Xiao Yi interrupted calmly.

”With the strength of that mysterious martial artist, who wiped out the Murong warriors with a wave of her hand, she could have easily taken Yiyi by force. But she didn’t. Instead, she asked, proving she’s not utterly wicked.”

”Before leaving, she even stabilized the self-destructing energy for you, which shows she isn’t malicious.”

”Leaving behind this token, she probably wants to reassure us, Yiyi’s family members.”

Xiao Yi rapidly spoke out all his thoughts.

Then he said, ”Great Elder, I plan to leave Purple Cloud City today. I will make some preparations and leave under the cover of nightfall.”

”Right, leaving earlier is good, to avoid unnecessary complications, especially since we don’t know when the Northern Mountain Murong Family will come knocking,” the Great Elder nodded.

”I am going out for a walk,” Xiao Yi said, taking care of himself as he got out of bed and walked toward the door.

Inside the room, all the elders sighed in unison.

”That kid, says he’s not worried, but he’s probably more anxious than anyone,” the Second Elder shook his head.

”The explanations he gave, rather than for us, seem to be for himself, forcing himself to find peace,” the Great Elder and the Third Elder shook their heads too.

”Holy shit, I get it now,” exclaimed the Sixth Elder suddenly, as if a lightbulb had gone off in his head. ”I knew it. That kid isn’t one to avoid trouble. Rushing off like that, it doesn’t look like he’s running from those seeking revenge from the Northern Mountain Murong Family; it’s more likely he’s going to look for Yiyi.”

As soon as the Sixth Elder finished speaking, the other elders all rolled their eyes at him, looking at him as if he were an idiot.

...

Outside the Xiao Mansion, Xiao Yi took out the token again and squeezed it tightly.

He realized that even with all his might and hands aching, he couldn’t make the token budge an inch.

Even more so, holding the token gave him a sense of clear mind and vision, beneficial to cultivation.

Just from the extraordinariness of this token, it was clear the Holy Moon Sect was no ordinary Sect.

Moreover, judging by the bewildered expressions of the elders, this sect didn’t seem to belong to Northern Mountain County.

”Holy Moon Sect, huh?” Xiao Yi’s face became solemn, he muttered to himself, ”Taking Yiyi, yet leaving behind this token. Wait for it, I will find you myself.”

Xiao Yi was, in fact, very clear in his mind.

Had the token not been left behind, it would have indicated that the mysterious martial artist would eventually bring Yiyi back one day.

But leaving behind a token, and a message, knowing full well their Sect was not within Northern Mountain County, separated from Purple Cloud City by a thousand mountains and rivers, with a long and perilous journey ahead – a martial artist from a small family would not possibly make it there safely.

The intent of the mysterious martial artist was clear then. I’ve given you the token, come if you’re able, don’t blame me if you’re not.

Luckily, considering the mysterious martial artist seemed not to be a bad person and appeared to place great importance on Yiyi, there was no need to worry too much about Yiyi’s safety.

But...

Xiao Yi suddenly smiled, ”That mysterious martial artist, you might have no bad intentions towards Yiyi and might treat her really well. But Yiyi, without me, her young master by her side, she’s going to be very uncomfortable, surely missing me.”

In reality, Xiao Yi wanted to say that he would feel very uncomfortable without Yiyi to take care of him, missing her greatly.

He didn’t voice it out, but his heart kept repeating it, always picturing Yiyi’s every word and smile.
