Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 47: Chapter 46: Leaps in Strength

Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Zimu still lay in a coma on the bed, while Xiao Yi watched over them.

As an alchemist, in addition to concocting elixirs, his medicinal knowledge included the understanding of various materials and their effects on the human body.

After all, alchemy was designed for martial artists to consume, so it was natural to consider the various relationships between the body and the elixirs.

Therefore, an alchemist inherently possessed superior medical skills.

If it were just a common person’s cold or fever, an alchemist often could cure it with a Recovery Pill or a Strengthening Pill, aiding to consolidate the essence and build up strength for the body, easily curing the ailment.

But the serious illnesses of martial artists were generally due to injuries from combat, backlash during cultivation, and so forth, which would require higher-grade elixirs for treatment.

Xiao Yi examined the two of them, his brows deeply furrowed.

”Martial artists often get injured in battle. It’s common for the Dantian to be damaged and the meridians to be harmed, and several second-grade elixirs can have a healing effect.”

”But a completely destroyed Dantian, there has never been a case of healing, at least no one within Purple Cloud City has succeeded.”

Xiao Yi read on while pondering the contents of the letter from the Great Elder.

There were a number of Xiao family members who had also seen their Dantians destroyed in combat, but not even the Third-grade Alchemist Great Elder could help them heal.

Xiao Yi continued to read the letter.

”The reason why a completely destroyed Dantian is incurable is not because the elixirs are ineffective, but because the body cannot absorb the medicine’s power.”

”The Dantian serves to absorb external forces, and once it’s destroyed, neither the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth nor the power of elixirs can be absorbed by the body, let alone take effect.”

”Without the Dantian being repaired, it’s impossible to absorb the medicinal power; and without the medicinal power, the Dantian cannot heal. They both form a vicious cycle, an insoluble knot.”

”A knot?” murmured Xiao Yi, his eyebrows knit even tighter, ”Since the Great Elder has sent me this letter, there must be a way to untie it.”

Sure enough, as soon as Xiao Yi finished reading the letter, his tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly.

”What a pity that Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Zimu are Mortal Realm warriors. If they were Postnatal Realm martial artists, in addition to the Dantian, they could also use the main meridian to absorb the power of the elixirs.”

”If you can find a way to help the two of them break through to the Postnatal Realm, to stimulate the power of the main meridian, perhaps it can be the opposite approach, without relying on the Dantian, to directly deliver the power of the elixir into the main meridian to take effect.”

”Of course, this is also a knot. Without the Dantian, it is impossible to condense a Qi Pill, and they cannot refine the main meridian, thus cannot become Postnatal Realm martial artists. And without breaking through to the Postnatal Realm, their Dantians cannot be healed.”

”Two knots, I can only help you untangle one of them. The rest is up to your own abilities.”

After finishing the letter, the following sections were some words of encouragement from the Great Elder.

Xiao Yi put away the letter, then suddenly laughed, ”Test my abilities? Ha, it’s probably not about alchemic skills, but...”

”Great Elder, oh Great Elder, your so-called test is the simplest thing for me,” Xiao Yi said with a light smile.

Xiao Yi took out a Qiankun Bag, picking out materials from within; yet, he didn’t proceed with alchemy.

The materials were almost all mild in medicinal properties, effective in protecting the veins and nourishing the blood. Only one item, as soon as it was taken out, immediately covered the entire room in an eerie red glow.

It was the Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit.

”Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit, a Peak Third-grade Spirit Fruit, fierce in potency. It’s uncertain whether Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Zimu can withstand it, I better be careful.”

Thinking this, Xiao Yi approached Xiao Zhuang and began to place pieces of the Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit into his mouth a little at a time.

As soon as the flesh of the fruit entered his mouth, it almost instantly turned into a bizarre red light, entering Xiao Zhuang’s body.

The Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit had the miraculous effect of Burning Veins and Refining Meridians. This Spirit Fruit for Postnatal Realm martial artists was a rare and divine fruit; upon consumption, martial artists could quickly refine the main meridian and enhance their cultivation.

Since Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Zimu couldn’t refine the main meridian with their own strength, Xiao Yi would use the Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit to do it for them.

”Ah,” Xiao Zhuang, who was still in a coma, suddenly showed a pained expression, his body overheating, his cheeks flushed hot, his forehead sweating profusely.

Xiao Yi’s brows furrowed with concern.

Fortunately, this condition only lasted for a few seconds. Afterwards, Xiao Zhuang’s complexion returned to normal.

Xiao Yi continued feeding him the Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit little by little.

After Xiao Zhuang had consumed half of the Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit, suddenly, a surging aura erupted from him.

At the same time, a dark and sticky substance kept exuding from Xiao Zhuang’s body.

”The aura fluctuates; this is a sign of breakthrough; impurities are expelled, indicating that a main meridian has been refined; Xiao Zhuang will soon break through to the Postnatal First Layer,” Xiao Yi said with immediate delight.

After Xiao Zhuang’s aura had stopped surging, Xiao Yi felt for it and indeed, Xiao Zhuang’s aura was that of the Postnatal First Layer.

”The realm has been broken through, the main meridian has also been successfully refined; now, I just need to concoct an elixir to repair his Dantian, and its efficacy will act through the main meridian.”

Xiao Yi murmured to himself, nodding secretly.

Afterward, Xiao Yi followed the same method and administered the remaining half of the Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit to Xiao Zimu, who also successfully broke through to the Mortal Realm First Layer and refined a main meridian.

”Phew...” Xiao Yi breathed a sigh of relief, feeling as if a huge weight had been lifted from his chest, he turned around and left the room.

Outside the room, the Fourth Elder and the Sixth Elder were unexpectedly waiting.

”Why are you here?” Xiao Yi asked indifferently.

”We’re naturally here to guard the door for you, to prevent others from disturbing your treatment of Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Zimu,” the Fourth Elder said with a chuckle, laughing as he spoke.

With a playful smile, Xiao Yi said, ”Two mere Mortal Realm juniors garnered the personal door-guarding from two elders? Heh, the elders are indeed thoughtful.”

Having said that, Xiao Yi turned and left. As he departed, his tone became indifferent again, ”Let them rest for a while; tomorrow, I will have the elixirs ready for them.”

Only after Xiao Yi had completely departed did the Sixth Elder blankly say, ”Do I sense a sting in his words, as though he has noticed something?”

”What do you think?” the Fourth Elder looked at the Sixth Elder as if he was gazing at an idiot.

The next second, the Fourth Elder revealed a knowing smile, ”Xiao Yi is really good, his supreme talent goes without saying, and his wisdom exceeds that of ordinary men; he saw through our intentions at a glance, far smarter than this fool.”

”Did he really understand?” the Sixth Elder mused to himself, ”Such a young age, and yet possessing such extraordinary insight.”

”The Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit has too strong an allure for Postnatal Martial Artists, capable of instantly refining the main meridian and significantly boosting one’s cultivation; no one can resist such temptation.”

”Murong Qianjun is the best example; previously knowing the dangers of the Silver-Backed Demon Python’s watch and the substantial risks, he still chose to wait for an opportunity to harvest the fruit, even resorting to scheming against our Xiao Family members, unscrupulously desiring it.”

”But Xiao Yi hardly hesitated at all and was immediately willing to offer a fruit for Xiao Zimu and Xiao Zhuang, proving that he values loyalty and sentiment far above all else.”

As the Fourth Elder spoke, a look of satisfaction increasingly filled his face.

The Sixth Elder asked doubtfully, ”If he hadn’t taken them out just now, would we have actually resorted to force?”

”Of course not,” replied the Fourth Elder. ”That was originally intended for him, anyway; he is the one with the highest talent. The Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit suits him best.”

The Fourth Elder continued, ”The Great Elder giving him this test was also done casually; even if he didn’t offer them, nobody would force him. But now, at least we know that our Young Master will not be a man of callous affection; when he becomes the Family Head, he will treat our clansmen well. Also, he clearly saw through us just now but did not expose us, plainly giving us face.”

The Sixth Elder nodded and said, ”Indeed, it’s fortunate that the Fifth Elder didn’t let his son Xiao Ruohan snatch away the position of Young Master. Hmph, that Xiao Ruohan, I knew right away he was the callous and ruthless type; if the family fell into their hands, who knows what would become of it.”

As the Sixth Elder spoke, he suddenly remembered something, and immediately grew angry, ”Fourth Elder, who did you just call an idiot? I warn you, slander me again, and we won’t be finished.”

...

Xiao Yi returned to his room, feeling as if a huge weight was lifted off his heart, not wanting to owe favors to others.

He took out the Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit again, now preparing to consume it himself.

Having gone through the forest battle five days ago, he fully understood the cruelty and danger of this world, where strength is the ultimate guarantee.

He had no concerns about the formidable potency of the Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit, considering his own strength and cultivation, and swallowed a whole fruit in one gulp.

A strange power surged into his body and, instead of passing through the Dantian, it directly circled around his third main meridian.

At the same time, a fiery pain caused him to clench his teeth.

However, the sensation did not last long, and soon the impurities in the third meridian were completely refined. Yet, the strange power had not entirely dissipated.

Under Xiao Yi’s control, he routed it to his fourth main meridian, refining it in turn.

One Demon Blood Flame Heart Fruit was enough to refine two main meridians.
