Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 22: Chapter 21: Guiding Yiyi

”Yii’er, you’re being too impulsive,” the Third Elder said with a look of worry on his face.

When all the other clan members had left, the Third Elder and Xiao Yi still stood in the same spot.

The Third Elder said, ”The Fifth Elder clearly took the opportunity to announce his proposal today while all the clan members were here, with the intention of targeting you, to strip you of your position as Young Master.”

”If you didn’t agree today and dragged this out until the clan members had left, he wouldn’t have been able to do anything to you.”

The Third Elder chastised Xiao Yi for being too rash.

Xiao Yi shook his head and said, ”That father and son are too sinister. If we drag this out once, there will be a next time. It’s better to cut off all their malicious intentions in one go.”

”As for the challenge in three days, it is really just a battle between me and Xiao Ruohan. I am fully confident in dealing with Xiao Ruohan.”

”Fully confident?” The Third Elder frowned and then rebuked, ”Yii’er, even though you’ve been quite impressive these days, you must never be arrogant or complacent. Xiao Ruohan has been in the Mortal Realm Seventh Layer for a long time, and if I’m not mistaken, after training in the Purple Cloud Cave for ten days, he must now be at the Mortal Realm Ninth Layer.”

”And you, ten days ago you were merely at the Mortal Realm Fifth Layer, and even at your peak now, you would be around the Seventh or Eighth Layer. How could you be his match?”

”Please rest assured, Third Elder,” Xiao Yi said confidently.

”How can I rest assured?” the Third Elder sighed deeply.

”Uncle Xiao Chong,” Xiao Yi suddenly called out.

”Eh?” The Third Elder was taken aback. It had been a long time since Xiao Yi had addressed him so affectionately, especially after the Family Head had disappeared and Xiao Yi had been looked down upon by all the clan members.

Xiao Yi spoke earnestly, ”Yii’er has let you down for many years, but from now on, I will never disappoint you again.”

That call of Uncle Xiao Chong, Xiao Yi made it with full sincerity. Perhaps from a soul’s perspective, he had been in contact with Xiao Chong for less than a month, but in this month, everything that Uncle Xiao Chong had done for him and the deep concern he had shown, deserved to be called ”uncle.”

It seemed that Xiao Chong hadn’t done much for him on the surface, but Xiao Yi knew very well that these days, he had done a lot for him behind the scenes, Xiao Chong simply hadn’t spoken of it.

The most evident of which was the fact that Xiao Ruohan and his son had dared to hire an assassin to infiltrate the Xiao Family and kill him, which suggested that they must have many more vicious schemes to follow.

However, these vicious schemes must have all been resolved by Xiao Chong in the shadows.

The Third Elder, hearing Xiao Yi’s words, suddenly shook with emotion.

”Well, alright, since you’ve made up your mind, I’ll go along with it,” the Third Elder sighed.

”Then I’ll take my leave first,” Xiao Yi said with a smile and turned to leave.

The Third Elder Xiao Chong watched Xiao Yi’s departing figure and said solemnly, ”Rest assured, Yii’er, I won’t let those people get their way.”

With that, he too turned to leave but not to go home. Instead, he headed for the Alchemy Hall, wanting to find the Great Elder. He had decided, at any cost, none of the plots aimed against Xiao Yi would succeed.

...

When Xiao Yi returned home, he was greeted by Yiyi and a table full of steaming dishes.

”Did you miss me while I was away?” Xiao Yi joked.

”Miss, of course I missed you, Yiyi missed Young Master a lot,” Yiyi said happily, blinking her sparkling eyes.

”Hehe,” Xiao Yi laughed, feeling a burst of joy in his heart to see that Yiyi was no longer as restrained or frightened of him as before.

Somehow, Xiao Yi realized he had slowly come to love the feeling of having someone sit beside him to share a meal with.

Of course, that person was limited to Yiyi.

Although it wasn’t anything luxurious, every meal shared with Yiyi brought an extraordinary sense of peace and tranquility to his heart.

After dinner, Yiyi cleaned up the dishes, and Xiao Yi began his cultivation practice.

To Xiao Yi, cultivation was an interesting affair. Of course, it was also to prepare for the fight in three days.

Taking out the Qiankun Bag from his bosom, it contained the Silver Taels and elixirs given by the Fifth Elder in exchange for Xiao Ruohan’s cultivation spot.

The Fifth Elder, cunning and calculating, wholeheartedly wanted to see Xiao Ruohan’s cultivation soar within the Purple Cloud Cave.

But Xiao Yi’s obstruction had prevented Xiao Ruohan from condensing a Qi Pill, and after all was said and done, Xiao Ruohan had merely advanced one layer of cultivation, which meant the Fifth Elder had lost both his wife and his soldiers.

With these Silver Taels, Xiao Yi could buy more materials to refine elixirs; the Postnatal Pills could even be consumed right now.

As for those Innate Pills, they would not be consumed for the time being. After all, these were elixirs for Innate Realm Martial Artists to consume, refined from ingredients with ferocious medicinal power that contained immense energy, and correspondingly, those impurities were also tough to handle.

At least for the body of a Mortal Realm Warrior, those impurities are very difficult to expel.

Better not to have the impurities clog up the Dantian and no longer be able to absorb the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy—that would be even more troublesome.

Therefore, the Innate Pills would be consumed after he broke through to the Postnatal Realm.

Besides, speaking of money, Xiao Jie and Xiao Shi still owed him money.

However, ever since he threatened these two more than half a month ago, those two fellows completely hid away, even more terrified than a mouse seeing a cat, and Xiao Yi couldn’t find them.

And later, right after the family competition had just concluded, which was ten days prior, those youths who had no chance to enter the Purple Cloud Cave for cultivation had already been sent out for tempering.

The Xiao Family was one of the Three Great Families of Purple Cloud City, owning many properties, as well as various sources for earning family income. The family youths had all been dispatched to these places ahead of time, and they wouldn’t return to the family for at least one to one and a half years.

At this moment, Xiao Yi glanced at Yiyi, who had just finished tidying up the dishes, and laughed, ”Yiyi, how about I teach you to cultivate?”

”Oh,” Yiyi continued to tidy up the dishes while nodding as usual. Whatever Xiao Yi said, right or wrong, she would habitually nod her head in agreement.

The next second, she finally realized what he had said and exclaimed in astonishment, ”Huh? Young Master, what did you say?”

That naturally oblivious expression made Xiao Yi burst into laughter.

”I said I’ll teach you to cultivate,” Xiao Yi repeated.

”Cultivate?” Yiyi hastily shook her head and said, ”Yiyi doesn’t want to; I’ve heard that it’s very troublesome for Martial Artists to cultivate, and it also wastes a lot of time. Yiyi wants to take good care of the Young Master.”

”Take care of my ass, I’m not without hands or feet. All right, it’s settled,” Xiao Yi feigned seriousness and decided on the matter.

...

Following Xiao Yi’s guidance, Yiyi sat cross-legged on the bed and hesitated, ”Young Master, Yiyi is very dumb, and I...”

”Shut up, just do as I say,” Xiao Yi scolded, knowing Yiyi wasn’t dumb; she just didn’t want to cultivate, preferring to devote all her time to looking after him.

”Firstly, Martial Artists must absorb Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy into their bodies, and then direct it to the Dantian,” Xiao Yi patiently instructed.

Yiyi had not yet had an Awakening of her Martial Soul, but this did not mean she couldn’t cultivate; only that the speed of absorbing Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy would be very slow.

Awakening the Martial Soul primarily depended on talent.

Xiao Yi couldn’t understand it; by his observation, Yiyi should be considered clever and certainly not lacking in talent, but she had never had an Awakening, and he didn’t know why.

”Where is the Dantian, ah?” Yiyi pretended not to know, staunchly averse to learning about cultivation.

Xiao Yi rolled his eyes and said impatiently, ”An inch below the abdomen, at the edge of the navel.”

”I don’t understand,” Yiyi shook her head.

”Stop pretending,” Xiao Yi became annoyed and pressed his hand directly to the location of Yiyi’s Dantian, ”It’s here, remember it clearly.”

”Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy enters the body and travels through the limbs and every part during a complete Grand Circulation, eventually making its way to the Dantian.”

”During the circulation, the Spiritual Energy is automatically used up to temper the body, strengthening the physical form.”

”And only the remaining Spiritual Energy that finally reaches the Dantian is absorbed by it, used for advancing one’s cultivation level.”
