Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 35: Chapter 34: Advancing to Yellow Martial Soul

”Fire... Devouring... Hundred... Blades...”

As the Elite Deacon from the Murong Family threw a punch with all his might towards Xiao Yi, a deep voice suddenly echoed in his ears.

This heavy voice, as it reached his ears, felt as heavy as a thousand weights.

The sheer weight of it stemmed merely from the meaning these four words conveyed.

And that meaning was known as ’Xuan Rank Martial Technique.’

Fire Devouring Hundred Blades, the most famous martial technique of the Xiao Family, known to all in Purple Cloud City.

As he heard the words Fire Devouring Hundred Blades, he immediately thought of ’Xuan Rank Martial Technique.’

For a Postnatal martial artist, this was describable only as terror.

His face, which had been twisted into a sneer of disdain, swiftly turned to panic.

However, this panic was instantly frozen, as he had already died.

With a ”boom.”

The Fire Devouring Hundred Blades suddenly lashed out from Xiao Yi’s hand, heavily slashing the Elite Deacon of the Murong Family.

The fire blade, emitting blistering high temperatures, first slashed a huge wound across his body, then exploded violently, blasting him into a bloodied mess.

By the time he hit the ground, he had already become a lifeless corpse.

”Murong Xian, the Elite Deacon... he... he was killed instantly...” another Postnatal Third Layer Deacon’s face drastically changed.

Murong Hua’s expression darkened even more, ”Xiao Yi, he actually mastered the Xiao Family’s strongest martial technique, the Fire Devouring Hundred Blades. The information was wrong; we need to be cautious.”

Xiao Yi looked at the corpse on the ground and silently nodded his head, ”Xuan Rank Martial Technique, indeed powerful.”

Although the Fire Devouring Hundred Blades was only a low-level Xuan Rank, it was still employed by Innate Martial Artists who had yet to achieve great mastery.

The difficulty was high, hence its power was naturally formidable.

Desite it being only one fire blade, because Murong Xian had no guard up and was hit at such close range, he was naturally killed instantly.

Of course, the most crucial reason was Xiao Yi’s cultivation; he was at the Postnatal First Layer, which was only two layers below Murong Xian’s.

However, because the Ice and Fire Qi Pill inside him allows True Qi to be summoned much faster than other Postnatal Pills, it indirectly made his combat ability comparable to someone of the Postnatal Second Layer.

That is to say, the real gap between him and Murong Xian was only one layer.

And this mere one-layer difference in cultivation could not offset the power of the Fire Devouring Hundred Blades.

”Dammit, we must kill Xiao Yi to avenge Elite Deacon Murong Xian,” the remaining Postnatal Third Layer Deacon angrily declared.

”We can’t be careless, let’s use martial techniques, join forces, and quickly slay Xiao Yi,” Murong Hua ordered.

As soon as their words fell, they moved together toward Xiao Yi.

”Joining forces, huh? Hmph.” Xiao Yi was unafraid, with a leap, he jumped off the horse.

”Leopard Form.” Xiao Yi called out in his mind, as fast as the wind, and instantly disappeared from the spot.

Murong Hua was startled, ”A mere Postnatal First Layer, and his speed is comparable to mine?”

Xiao Yi suddenly appeared behind the other Postnatal Third Layer Deacon, striking him with a punch, his hands in the form of a tiger.

”Be careful,” Murong Hua called out, but it was too late.

The other Deacon was heavily pounded by Xiao Yi’s punch, spitting blood as he was sent flying.

”What fierce power, what’s going on with this kid?” the Deacon said incredulously.

Although Xiao Yi was only at the Postnatal First Layer, under the amplification of the Ice and Fire Qi Pill, his speed and fierceness in summoning spiritual energy were not inferior to those of the Postnatal Second Layer. Additionally, incorporating the Xingyi Five Extremes, his combat power had reached above a Postnatal Third Layer, only slightly below a Postnatal Fourth Layer.

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, Xiao Yi kept shifting and dodging, avoiding Murong Hua and focusing his attacks on the other Deacon.

Spit, spit, spit, the Deacon violently spat out mouthfuls of fresh blood. He felt every punch from Xiao Yi heavy and powerful, causing his Qi-Blood to churn inside him.

”Xiao Yi, if you dare, fight me in an open battle. What kind of hero uses such underhanded tactics?” Murong Hua, seeing the other Deacon continually getting injured, was enraged.

”Underhanded?” Xiao Yi coldly laughed, ”All three of you are well-known Postnatal martial artists, joining forces to ambush and kill a young man like me. Talking about being underhanded, I think I’m far behind you.”

Though he spoke so, Xiao Yi still ceased his attack on the other Deacon and turned his assault towards Murong Hua.

”Hmph.” Murong Hua sneered, feeling a stab of delight, thinking, ”Just a youth, easily provoked by my words into attacking me.”

”Smack, smack...”

The two exchanged a strike.

Murong Hua stood firm, while Xiao Yi was forced back several meters.

”Xiao Yi, you are no match for me, you’re as good as dead,” Murong Hua, seeing his own palm repel Xiao Yi, suddenly brimmed with confidence.

”Heh.” Xiao Yi steadied himself, then smiled lightly, ”Alright, I guess I know what level my strength is at now, it’s time to end this fight.”

”What?” Murong Hua was immediately shocked, ”You... you actually dared to use us as your test subjects?”

”Only realizing it now?” Xiao Yi sneered coldly.

”Arrogant.” Murong Hua shouted angrily, ”Don’t think you are great just because you have mastered Fire Devouring Hundred Blades. A mere Fire Blade is far from comparable to my small-achieved Green Wave Water Singing Arrow.”

With a wave of his hand, dozens of blue water arrows fell from the sky, densely flying towards Xiao Yi.

”Fire Devouring Hundred Blades.” Xiao Yi shouted softly, condensing a fire blade in his hand and releasing it.

A fire blade met with dozens of water arrows.

The scorching red glow collided with the cold blue light.

In an instant, ice and fire melded together. Ultimately, the fire blade disappeared, and the dozens of water arrows also vanished without a trace.

Although Xiao Yi’s Fire Devouring Hundred Blades had just been mastered and consisted of only one blade, whereas Murong Hua’s Green Wave Water Singing Arrow had been practiced for decades and was close to being greatly achieved.

But the gap between a Xuan Rank Martial Technique and a Yellow Rank Martial Technique was too vast.

In the Flame Dragon Continent, there are countless martial techniques, but they are only divided into four ranks: Heaven, Earth, Xuan, and Huang. It is clear that the gap between each rank is extremely huge.

A Xuan Rank Martial Technique, even at low-level, is much stronger than a peak Yellow Rank Martial Technique. The difference between the two can be described as heaven and earth.

This is why the only low-level Xuan Rank Martial Technique each of the Three Great Families possessed is their greatest asset, never to be imparted externally.

Only clan elders and some elite deacons could learn it.

While the peak Yellow Rank Martial Techniques could be learned by ordinary clan members.

The two are simply not on the same level.

If Xiao Yi’s Fire Devouring Hundred Blades had been small-achieved, capable of launching dozens of fire blades, he could have instantly killed Murong Hua of the Postnatal Fourth Layer.

”This boy is strong, we should join forces,” Murong Hua said gravely to another deacon.

”Hmm.” The other deacon heavily nodded.

”Green Wave Water Singing Arrow.” Both unleashed their combat techniques simultaneously.

Xiao Yi remained unafraid, having tested his current combat strength, ready to end the battle.

In his heart, Xiao Yi softly shouted, ”Rising Dragon.”

His momentum surged instantly, his realm ascending from Postnatal First Layer to Postnatal Third Layer.

Murong Hua and the other suddenly changed their expressions, ”How is this possible, this boy’s realm has increased out of nowhere. This isn’t right, he’s at Postnatal Third Layer now, we can’t match him, run.”

Even at Postnatal First Layer, Xiao Yi could fight them to a draw, now at Postnatal Third Layer, they wouldn’t even be able to parry.

Realizing this, they immediately retracted their martial techniques and turned to flee.

”Think you can run?” Xiao Yi’s eyes burst with a terrifying killing intent, ”Murong family’s officials, you have always sought my death, this time I’ll start by killing you three deacons to settle some interest.”

As his words fell, the Fire Devouring Hundred Blades were released, striking at Murong Hua and his companion with incredible speed.

With a whoosh, the fire blade cleaved through the fleeing pair from behind. A thunderous explosion followed, and the two were blasted into a bloody mess, falling to the ground lifeless.

With the boost from Rising Dragon, having reached the Postnatal Third Layer, and the enhancement from the Ice and Fire Qi Pill, the power of his Fire Devouring Hundred Blades had greatly increased, instantly killing the two men.

Indeed, if Murong Hua had been one of those elite deacons who practiced the Murong family’s low-level Xuan Rank Martial Technique, the situation would have been different.

Even if Xiao Yi could kill them, it would certainly have been difficult, not as easy as it was now.

Xiao Yi searched the bodies of the three, finding three Qiankun Bags.

For martial artists, it’s common to carry one’s possessions. After all, there is no safer place than one’s own person.

Opening the three Qiankun Bags, the contents were roughly the same, all materials, several Postnatal Pills, and about a thousand Silver Taels.

”Murong family’s deacons, you do have a decent heritage,” Xiao Yi chuckled, unhesitatingly accepting the ’contributions’ of the three.

Following that, Xiao Yi’s eyes transformed, the Taiyin and Taiyang Eyes appeared.

Two invisible whirlpools materialized out of thin air.

Appearing above the bodies of the three, the whirlpools absorbed all their Martial Soul Power.

It is worth mentioning, the two Postnatal Third Layer deacons only had Orange-rank Martial Souls; whereas Murong Hua, surprisingly, had a Yellow Rank Martial Soul.

No wonder the other two deacons’ words towards Murong Hua seemed quite respectful.

The power from the three Martial Souls was infused into the Fire Control Beast and Ice Phoenix Sword Souls.

Then, Xiao Yi also absorbed the Martial Souls of about forty mountain bandits. Although those were merely low-end Red Martial Souls, their quantity was not negligible.

Once all the Martial Souls had been absorbed, the Fire Control Beast Soul barely advanced to a Yellow Martial Soul; as for the Ice Phoenix Sword Soul, there was no change.

Xiao Yi remounted his steed, his gaze icy, ”I just left Purple Cloud City and immediately fell into an ambush from the Murong family. Fifth Elder, you must have played a big part in this, I’ll settle this account with you slowly when I return to the Xiao Family.”

With that thought, Xiao Yi cracked his whip and sped away.
