Chapter 39: Chapter 38: Hundred Doses of Elixir

Inside the large Xiao Family mining vein, there were mansions, a Weapon Hall, a Council Hall, a Medicine Hall, and more—it had everything.

The clan members were also very busy, mining or standing guard, with two to three hundred clan members, two elders, and numerous deacons.

This place was simply a miniature version of the Xiao Family.

But considering the importance of the large mining vein, it was no wonder that the Xiao Family valued it highly and arranged for so many martial artists to be here.

In the Council Hall, Fourth Elder and Sixth Elder sat in the main seats, while Xiao Yi sat beside them, the three of them chatting over tea.

”Good tea,” Xiao Yi commented after taking a sip.

Xiao Yi distinctly felt that, upon the tea entering his stomach, a warmth spread through his body, seeming to also carry a subtle power that refreshed the spirit and mind.

”Hehe, if you like it, drink more,” Fourth Elder laughed. ”This Purple Leaf Spirit Tea is not available outside. It has the effect of warming the channels and body; long-term consumption can make one’s meridians more unimpeded, quite beneficial.”

Sixth Elder also said, ”This Purple Leaf Spirit Tea, grown around the Purple Cloud Iron Ore Vein, nourished by the Purple Cloud Iron Soil, carries some fire attribute spiritual energy, indeed it came to be by fate.”

Xiao Yi took another sip and thought to himself, ”This tea tastes good and has special effects; when I leave later, I should take some more for Yiyi to try.”

”Right,” Fourth Elder suddenly put down his teacup and said seriously, ”Xiao Yi, I heard you came to Meteorite Mountain Range this time to find that Murong Qianjun.”

”That guy, relying on those groundless rumors, has really slandered you horribly. It’s only right for you to settle accounts with him.”

Sixth Elder pushed the tealeaves with the lid and took another sip, saying, ”However, it’s said that Murong Qianjun has disappeared recently, no one knows where he’s gone. Later, I will have someone from the Xiao Family out there inquire around, to see if we can find his whereabouts.”

”That villain, while tarnishing our Xiao Family’s reputation, has also led the Murong Family youngsters to repeatedly target and injure our young members, truly going too far.”

Sixth Elder showed a furious expression.

Xiao Yi shrugged, saying, ”If we can find him, so be it; if not, it doesn’t matter.”

Xiao Yi’s main purpose in coming to the Meteorite Mountain Range wasn’t Murong Qianjun at all. He just wanted to see the outside world, to witness the so-called ferocious demon beasts, and experience the dangers of the Meteorite Mountain Range.

As for getting back the Xiao Family’s face and defeating Murong Qianjun, that was just incidental. If he encountered him, he would fight; if not, it didn’t matter.

Ultimately, Xiao Yi didn’t take Murong Qianjun seriously at all.

Just a Murong Qianjun wasn’t worth his while, wandering everywhere searching and making such great efforts.

He was more interested in challenging himself and gaining experiences in dangerous lands.

As a martial artist, elevating his cultivation and experiencing the higher marvels of martial arts realms was what Xiao Yi truly wanted to do.

Fourth Elder and Sixth Elder suddenly exchanged glances, both shrewd individuals, seemingly seeing through Xiao Yi’s thoughts.

From each other’s gazes, they understood, ”This young man is restless.”

”Xiao Yi, I must tell you, the Meteorite Mountain Range is very dangerous, don’t think about wandering everywhere,” Fourth Elder warned first.

Sixth Elder spoke earnestly, ”Xiao Yi, we’ll take care of things at the large mining vein. When you have time, go visit the smaller mining veins to inspect and look after the other, weaker youngsters.”

”Okay,” Xiao Yi nodded.

”That’s easy for you to say, scoundrel, don’t think we don’t know what you’re thinking,”

Fourth Elder said sternly, ”Over the years, we’ve seen many young members come to the Meteorite Mountain Range, all too reckless in their youth, and they’ve suffered not a little.”

Sixth Elder was about to give another piece of advice when a deacon hurried into the Council Hall, a look of concern on his face.

”Xiao Hu, what’s the matter?” Sixth Elder asked.

Xiao Yi knew this man; he was the Second Deacon of the Xiao Family, a Postnatal Nine-layered Martial Artist with considerable authority in the family, and a confidant of Fourth Elder.

”Reporting to Sixth Elder,” Xiao Hu spoke gravely, ”the young members who returned from the smaller mining vein are all injured, some seriously...”

”Haven’t their injuries stabilized already?” Fourth Elder interrupted.

”Stabilitization had been achieved before,” Xiao Hu said. ”However, we’ve run out of healing medicine. If the wounds were to flare up now, that would be troublesome. It’s also a hassle to have the clan send medicine over now. I wonder if we should escort them back to the clan for healing first?”

Many of the over one hundred Xiao Family disciples who came to the Meteorite Mountain Range had been injured early on, during a clash with the Murong Family disciples over a small ore vein, and had come to the Xiao Family camp to recover.

Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Zimu, along with Xiao Yi who arrived just in time, had prevented them from sustaining severe injuries.

The Fourth Elder furrowed his brow and said, ”They are here to train. If they return now, only a few days into their training, how am I going to explain this to the Third Elder?”

Xiao Yi also furrowed his brow and asked, ”Aren’t there any other alchemists around the ore vein?”

”Heh.” The Sixth Elder waved his hand dismissively. ”Those alchemists all pride themselves on their distinguished status; none of them would want to suffer here. Besides, each of them is treasured by their families, who wouldn’t dare risk sending them here.”

”Wait, that’s wrong.” The Sixth Elder suddenly brightened up. ”Xiao Yi, aren’t you a First-grade Alchemist?”

”That won’t work.” The Fourth Elder shook his head, ”With seventy to eighty disciples needing healing medicine, the quantity required is too large. Xiao Yi is just a First-grade Alchemist and has limited speed. It’s too late to start refining now, although the clan does have enough elixir stock.”

”Xiao Hu, prepare to send the injured disciples back to the clan first thing tomorrow,” instructed the Fourth Elder.

”Ah.” The Sixth Elder sighed. ”They’ve only been out here a little over ten days, and now they’re returning already. I fear it might damage their self-esteem. Moreover, a great opportunity for experience might be significantly delayed.”

”Our young generation in the Xiao Family is already weaker overall compared to the Murong and Jiang Families. If there’s a slip-up now, in a decade or so, our disciples might fall far behind those of the other families.”

As Elders of the Xiao Family, the two elders frequently worried about the younger generation.

After all, it would be the younger generation who would eventually lead the Xiao Family. These elder deacons would also step down in the future.

”Wait,” Xiao Yi stopped Xiao Hu, who was about to leave.

”What instruction do you have, Young Master?” Xiao Hu paused and asked.

Xiao Yi looked at the Fourth Elder and asked, ”Fourth Elder, do we have sufficient refining materials here by the ore vein?”

The Fourth Elder nodded. ”Of course, we do. Aside from Purple Cloud Iron, the Meteorite Mountain Range also boasts Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures growing in various perilous locations.”

”Some of our clansmen here mine Purple Cloud Iron; others collect Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures to send back to the clan periodically. Over half of the materials for the clan are provided by us.”

”That’s good to hear,” Xiao Yi nodded, then looked at Xiao Hu. ”There’s no need to arrange for those disciples to go back to the clan. Prepare healing medicine materials for a hundred people and Body Tempering Pill materials for a hundred people, and send them to my room.”

”What are you planning to do?” the Sixth Elder asked in surprise.

”Ha.” Xiao Yi gave a slight smile. ”Tomorrow morning, you’ll see enough healing medicine.”

Having said this, Xiao Yi got up and left the Council Hall.

”This young man, is he confident he can refine such a large amount of elixirs overnight?” the Sixth Elder asked in astonishment.

The Fourth Elder instructed Xiao Hu, ”Do as Xiao Yi says, prepare the materials for him immediately. Even if he fails, it’s still not too late to send the clan’s disciples back to the Xiao Family tomorrow.”

...

As the Young Master, a comfortable mansion had been specially prepared for Xiao Yi here by the ore vein for his residence.

In his room, Xiao Yi took out the Qiankun Bag given to him earlier by the Third Elder, which contained a Three-Spiral Furnace prepared in advance by the Third Elder.

The Three-Spiral Furnace, standard equipment for a First-grade Alchemist, was expensive and considered one of the best Alchemy Furnaces in Purple Cloud City.

Looking at the room full of materials, Xiao Yi did not hesitate and immediately started refining.

His Alchemy Technique was nearly perfect among First-grade Elixirs. Therefore, his speed in refining various elixirs was extremely fast, and he had refined hundreds of Nine Revolutions Body Tempering Pills in just three days.

Now, having read the Alchemy Experience given to him by the Great Elder, he was fully capable of producing Second-grade Elixirs, which meant he was a Quasi Second-grade Alchemist.

The healing medicine and the Body Tempering Pills were merely First-grade Elixirs.

With the capability of a Second-grade Alchemist, the speed of refining First-grade Elixirs was naturally much faster.

Additionally, his Fire Control Beast Martial Soul had evolved from Orange-rank to Yellow-rank, enhancing his Fire Control ability considerably, making the elixir refining process even more comfortable.

Now, for him, refining a hundred doses of First-grade Elixirs overnight was a piece of cake.
