Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 2: Chapter 1: Twin Martial Souls_2

Coincidentally, this young man bore the same name as Xiao Yi.

He was the sole son of the current family head of the Xiao Family, one of the Three Great Families of Purple Cloud City.

However, he had lost his mother in childhood, and his father had mysteriously disappeared many years ago.

Raised by an elder in the family, the young man had grown up under his care.

Now sixteen, he possessed only the meager strength of a Mortal Realm First Layer, far beneath his peers. Bearing the title of Young Master, he was the shame of his entire family, constantly facing humiliation.

In everyone’s eyes, he was an utter failure.

”Same name as Xiao Yi, yet how miserably you’ve ended up!” Xiao Yi sneered.

As for why he died, Xiao Yi learned from the memories...

A few days earlier, his fiancée, Murong Jiao’er, had asked to meet him behind the mountain.

Naively, he thought it was a romantic tryst.

Only upon arriving did he discover waiting for him, apart from Murong Jiao’er, was his cousin, Xiao Ruohan.

And Xiao Ruohan had long harbored thoughts of getting rid of him.

In his gaze, a mix of disbelief, fear, and fury, Murong Jiao’er and Xiao Ruohan kissed each other.

Only at the brink of death did he realize that his cousin Xiao Ruohan had been secret lovers with his fiancée.

Xiao Ruohan was a renowned genius of the Xiao Family, a Mortal Realm Seventh Layer Martial Artist and the son of the Fifth Elder.

The outcome was predictable, Xiao Ruohan shattered his heart meridian with a palm strike and pushed him off a cliff.

When he was finally rescued from the foot of the cliff, he was on his last breath, unable to speak or open his eyes.

Severely injured, both physically and psychologically tormented, he barely lasted three days before he died in bed.

It was at this time that Xiao Yi transmigrated and possessed the body of this already deceased man.

”What a vicious woman, and what a malicious cousin.” Xiao Yi frowned, his eyes icy cold.

”Both dead due to plots, at least I made those bastards pay with their lives while you died in such a wretched way.” Xiao Yi sighed.

”Well, since I’ve taken over your body, allowing me to be reborn, I’ll avenge you.”

Xiao Yi didn’t like owing anyone, even if it was just a coincidence, even though the person was already dead.

Having made up his mind, Xiao Yi once again sorted through the unfamiliar memories in his mind.

Martial Artists in this world possess a special talent, Awakening Martial Souls.

The younger one awakens, the stronger the talent, and the more powerful the Martial Soul.

Martial Souls come in many types.

Artifact Martial Soul: knife, spear, sword, halberd, bow, axe...; Beast Martial Soul: lion, tiger, monkey, snake... including powerful demon beast Martial Souls; Plant Type Martial Soul: flower, grass, tree, wood... including rare and special-effect Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures.

Of course, there are other unimaginable unique Martial Souls.

In short, anything in this world could become a Martial Artist’s Martial Soul.

Martial Souls, from lowest to highest, are divided into seven ranks: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Purple.

The higher the rank, the stronger the Martial Soul naturally is.

Like a Red Rank Martial Soul, which mostly comprises ordinary things like standard knives, livestock like pigs and dogs, and random roadside flowers and grasses.

High-ranking Martial Souls, like the renowned genius Xiao Ruohan of the Xiao Family, have Yellow Rank Martial Souls like the Fire Cloud Python. Once activated, commanding the Fire Cloud Python unleashes towering flames, instantly devouring and burning enemies to ashes.

One could say, Martial Souls are the most crucial element for martial artists in this world.

They determine a martial artist’s future, cultivation speed, attacking methods, and strength.

In a nutshell, awakening a more powerful Martial Soul signifies a martial artist’s stronger innate talent, making it easier to become a powerhouse in the future.

”Martial Artists, Martial Souls.” Xiao Yi cracked a smile, ”Interesting, although I’ve died, coming to this world might turn out to be very exciting.”

However, the next second, his smile froze, and he was simply dumbstruck.

Because, he had just sensed the Martial Soul within his body.

Martial Soul, residing beside the Dantian in a Martial Artist’s body.

And now, beside his own Dantian, there was something like a dumb, silly sphere, emitting a faint red glow.

Red Rank Martial Soul, Fire Control Beast.

”Damn it, is this some kind of joke?” Xiao Yi almost cursed out loud.

Fire Control Beast, the name sounded impressive.

But in reality, it was one of the lowest demon beasts in the wilderness.

More precisely, it was considered the disgrace and waste among demon beasts because it probably couldn’t even defeat a common wild animal.

All day long, dumb and silly, feeding on small and weak animals like rabbits.

Even a slightly fierce wolf, tiger, or leopard could swallow it in one bite.

Even an ordinary adult without any cultivation could kick it flying with one foot.

”Damn it, bro, you actually awakened this thing, no wonder you were always called trash.” Xiao Yi was speechless.

The Fire Control Beast was known as the most garbage Martial Soul. Even among the lowest Red Rank Martial Souls, it was at the very bottom, even worse than those of domestic animals like pigs, dogs, cattle, and sheep.

At least those domestic Animal Martial Souls could still provide a certain enhancement of strength to a Martial Artist.

But the Fire Control Beast only granted its Martial Artist the skill of ’Fire Control’.

Xiao Yi tried it out immediately, manipulating the Martial Soul within his body, and a small flame suddenly burst out in his palm.

However, this tiny flame, as Xiao Yi would have put it in his past life, was even worse than a lighter, not to mention using it for attack, even using it for starting a fire would be bothersome.

Other Martial Artists, by the age of 16, would at least have the cultivation of Mortal Realm Third Layer, but he was only at the weakest Mortal Realm First Layer.

Other Martial Artists, like the descendants of the Xiao Family, generally had Orange-rank Martial Souls, and even the less talented ones had somewhat useful Red Rank Martial Souls.

He, however, had awakened the most useless Fire Control Beast.

No wonder he held the title of ’Young Master’ but was bullied by the clan’s descendants daily and despised by everyone.

Martial Soul almost determined a Martial Artist’s achievements in life.

”Fine, after all, when a mountain collapses, no support can hold; when people fall, no one can stand upright.” Xiao Yi wiped away the displeasure in his heart, his eyes full of pride, ”With my mastery in Xingyi Fist, even without relying on the Martial Soul, I can still carve out my own piece of sky in this world.”

Xiao Yi withdrew the ’pitiful’ flame in his palm and no longer wanted to afford another glance at the Martial Soul inside his body.

Just at that moment, he suddenly stiffened.

”Huh?” Xiao Yi furrowed his brow, and then his face dramatically changed.

Because, beside the Dantian in his body, apart from that weak Fire Control Beast Martial Soul, there was another mass.

That mass, shaped like a ’sword’, emitted dazzling purple light, and it was a deep purple color.

”This... this... this is the Ice Phoenix Sword, how... how did it become my Martial Soul, and a Purple Martial Soul at that.” Xiao Yi was ecstatic.

The Ice Phoenix Sword was not from this world but the very thing that had caused Xiao Yi’s death on Earth.

Indeed, the Huaxia relic that Xiao Yi originally wanted to retrieve was this Ice Phoenix Sword.

”How could this happen?” Even with Xiao Yi’s extraordinary experiences, he couldn’t make sense of it.

A few days ago, when Xiao Yi received the news and was about to act, he had investigated this relic.

However, even with his abilities as the Crownless King of the assassins, he couldn’t find out any information about the Ice Phoenix Sword.

He knew that the origins of this sword were extremely mysterious, with no historical records, only leaving behind some mythological tales.

It was said to be a treasure that countless immortals and deities from Ancient Times had desperately fought over.

At that time, Xiao Yi had scoffed at these mythological tales; but now, he changed his mind.

”It looks like, your origins are truly extraordinary. Also, my safe passage and rebirth in this world must definitely be credited to you,” Xiao Yi speculated, though in his heart he was already certain.

”Twin Martial Souls, one of them being the most powerful Purple Martial Soul, tsk tsk.” Xiao Yi’s previously gloomy mood turned into a hint of anticipation.

....

Sorry for the gap, if it jumped Chapters, it’s out of my control, apologies from Xiao Ba.
