Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 28: Chapter 27: The Curtain Falls

Nobody expected that, under the watchful eyes of the public, with the nine elders of the Xiao Family assembled, Xiao Ruokuang would still dare to be so arrogant, launching a surprise attack on Xiao Yi.

This sudden ambush startled everyone.

Without employing Rising Dragon, Xiao Yi was merely at the Mortal Realm Ninth Layer, a whole Great Realm lower than the Postnatal First Layer. If he were hit, he would undoubtedly be severely injured, if not fatally.

Fortunately, Xiao Yi, in his past life as a top assassin, always maintained a high level of caution.

”Hmm?” Almost before the Great Elder’s outcry, Xiao Yi had already sensed an intense sense of danger approaching from behind.

”Hmph, you wastrel, without using those strange moves, I’d like to see how you fend off this palm of mine; once I kill you, I want to see who can do anything to me!”

Xiao Ruokuang was desperate to kill Xiao Yi, confidently believing in the success of his sneak attack.

”If you want to play dirty, then don’t blame me for being ruthless.” Xiao Yi’s gaze sharpened, filled with murderous intent. Instead of turning around to block the palm, he simply titled his head slightly.

His seemingly inadvertent tilt let Xiao Ruokuang’s palm pass by, missing his ear by a fraction.

”Dodged it? Impossible!” Xiao Ruokuang was instantly shocked, as he had intended to crush Xiao Yi’s skull with that palm and never expected Xiao Yi to dodge.

”Hmph, there’s nothing impossible about it.” Xiao Yi snorted coldly, and in an instant, employed Rising Dragon, then seized Xiao Ruokuang’s hand with a Tiger Form grasp.

With a backward throw, he flung Xiao Ruokuang, the assailant, in front of himself.

Crack.

With a forceful squeeze of Xiao Yi’s Tiger Claw, he effortlessly crippled Xiao Ruokuang’s arm.

”Ah.” Xiao Ruokuang screamed in pain. Now that his ambush had failed, in a head-to-head fight, he could only be crushed by Xiao Yi.

”You wastrel, get the hell away from me.” Xiao Ruokuang roared in anger.

Xiao Yi turned a deaf ear, his expression cold. With another crack, he crippled Xiao Ruokuang’s other arm.

”You wastrel, what are you trying to do, I am a disciple of the Mystic Fire Sect, you...”

He couldn’t finish his words before feeling a sharp pain in his abdomen and suddenly lost the strength to curse.

”You... you want to cripple me?” Xiao Ruokuang suddenly realized Xiao Yi’s intention and was instantly terrified.

He distinctly felt that the punch Xiao Yi aimed at his abdomen was targeted at his Dantian.

The Dantian, where martial artists store and mobilize their True Qi, is the most critical point; once destroyed, one would lose all their cultivation.

”Xiao Yi, stop right there.” The Fifth Elder shouted, ready to rescue Xiao Ruokuang.

The Third Elder, quick-witted and swift in action, blocked his path and said coldly, ”Fifth Elder, you’d better just watch quietly.”

The actions of Xiao Ruokuang, who had just tried to ambush and kill Xiao Yi, had already infuriated the Third Elder. If the Fifth Elder dared to interfere, he would erupt in rage.

On the Elders’ Seat, the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Elders, who always looked to the Fifth Elder for guidance, became anxious upon seeing him stopped, prepared to step forward to support the Fifth Elder.

At that moment, the Great Elder slightly coughed twice, ”Cough, cough.”

To the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Elders, these simple coughs struck like thunder, causing them not to dare to move, and they stood in place obediently.

The way the Great Elder looked at Xiao Yi couldn’t just be described as satisfied but rather as extremely appreciative.

Even the Second Elder exclaimed, ”Good lad, such keen reactions. Truly a remarkable martial artist.”

The Great Elder also smiled and said, ”Quick reflexes, unfazed by danger, and a genius in alchemy, this young man will certainly achieve greatness in the future.”

On the Martial Arts Arena, Xiao Yi continued to pummel with a series of punches, preparing to destroy Xiao Ruokuang’s Dantian and strip him of his cultivation completely.

Suddenly, three fiery red figures darted onto the Martial Arts Arena at a high speed, moving so swiftly that they snatched Xiao Ruokuang from Xiao Yi’s grasp just in time.

Three figures appeared, the Mystic Fire Sect deacons who had accompanied Xiao Ruokuang back to the Xiao Family. All of them were strong Postnatal Realm warriors, their strength immense.

Xiao Ruokuang, as a direct disciple of the Sect Leader, was a well-known genius within the Mystic Fire Sect, naturally accompanied and protected by the sect’s powerhouses.

However, not content with just rescuing Xiao Ruokuang, one of them even attempted to take advantage of the situation to attack and severely injure Xiao Yi.

”Hmph,” a growl of anger resounded.

The Great Elder, well-prepared, was not about to let them succeed.

”Boom, boom, boom”

Still seated at the Elder’s Seat, without any visible movement, the three Mystic Fire Sect deacons including Xiao Ruokuang suddenly spat blood and were sent flying.

The strength of Great Elder Xiao Lihuo was as fierce as this.

”So strong,” Xiao Yi was also shocked and thought to himself, ”In terms of strength, the Great Elder is probably even stronger than the Third Elder and Second Elder.”

Very few had seen the Great Elder take action, but he was, in fact, the current strongest member of the Xiao Family.

”Pfft.” Xiao Ruokuang violently spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, then stood up with an incredulous face and angrily asked, ”Great Elder, you actually hit me? Have you gone mad?”

Xiao Ruokuang, acting like a madman, shouted angrily, ”In terms of talent, I am the most outstanding genius in Purple Cloud City; in terms of status, my father is the Fifth Elder of the Xiao Family, my master is the Sect Leader of the Mystic Fire Sect; given time, I will most likely become the Sect Leader of the Mystic Fire Sect, even possibly an excellent alchemist.”

”I am going to be the pride of the entire Xiao Family, and you, Great Elder, you actually hit me for the sake of Xiao Yi, this little piece of trash?”

Beside him, Xiao Yi couldn’t help but roll his eyes and thought to himself, Xiao Ruokuang is indeed arrogant and so to an idiotic extent.

Growing up under countless praises and the halo of a genius, Xiao Ruokuang, pampered by all the elders, had long developed a character that looked down on everything.

Now, Xiao Yi not only surpassed him in martial arts cultivation but also in alchemy talent, and even the clan’s elders were on Xiao Yi’s side, which made him extremely angry.

”Great Elder, you better think this through. When my cultivation succeeds in the future, the benefits the Xiao Family will receive are far beyond what that waste Xiao Yi could offer,” Xiao Ruokuang dared to directly question the Great Elder.

”Insolence,” the Second Elder shouted angrily, ”Xiao Ruokuang, when did it become your turn to question the Great Elder?”

The Great Elder waved his hand, indicating that the Second Elder need not say more, and then looked directly at Xiao Ruokuang, ”Xiao Ruokuang, you think you are very impressive, and that the Xiao Family should be proud of you.”

”But, have you ever thought, if it weren’t for the family’s help in the past, how could you have displayed your talent and become a cultivation genius.”

”Have you also thought, if the Mystic Fire Sect was not looking out for the Xiao Family’s interests, how could you have gained the favor and help of Mystic Fire Sect elders, let alone the Sect Leader.”

”Enough,” the Great Elder sighed and said, ”Such an ungrateful person does not deserve to be a member of the Xiao Family’s disciples. From now on, without permission, you are not to set foot in the Xiao Family again.”

Great Elder was extremely disappointed with Xiao Ruokuang but upon glancing at Xiao Yi, he suddenly felt immensely satisfied and consoled.

”You... you will regret this,” Xiao Ruokuang yelled, ”You old coot, just wait until I report back to the sect leader about how you injured us today, and brace yourself for the Mystic Fire Sect’s revenge.”

”Nonsense.” The Great Elder became furious in an instant, unable to believe Xiao Ruokuang was still so unrepentant. He struck with a slap that sent Xiao Ruokuang flying several meters, his mouth spewing fresh blood.

The Great Elder said authoritatively, ”Xiao Ruokuang, go back and ask your so-called Sect Leader, what was he when Old Xiao became famous back in the day? Also, tell him, from now on, he need not come to Old Xiao for alchemy. Now, get out.”

”Pfft.” Xiao Ruokuang spit out another mouthful of blood and completely fainted.

The three Mystic Fire Sect deacons hurriedly picked up Xiao Ruokuang and fled far away.

The Xiao Family’s Steward was about to give chase, but the Great Elder waved his hand, ”No need to chase.”

...

The martial arts competition this time ended in such an unexpected manner.

Originally, the Fifth Elder had made things difficult for Xiao Yi, intending for Ruohan to take his place, yet, it had instead solidified Xiao Yi’s position. With Ruohan severely injured, Xiao Ruokuang was indirectly expelled from the Xiao Family.

Under the starry-eyed gaze of the clan members, Xiao Yi left the Martial Arts Arena and returned home.
