Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Maid Yiyi

Twin Martial Souls, in the Flame Dragon Continent, belonged to legend. They were rumored to exist, but no one had ever really seen them.

As for Purple Martial Souls, they were extremely rare as well.

Even the elders within the Xiao Family mostly possessed only Yellow Rank Martial Souls.

To possess a blue Martial Soul was to be a renowned genius Martial Artist throughout the continent, let alone the highest level of Purple Martial Soul.

”Let’s try out the effect,” Xiao Yi thought to himself.

Suddenly, a slight sound of footsteps came from outside the room.

”Hmm?” Xiao Yi’s ears twitched, as an assassin, he was extremely sensitive to changes in his surroundings.

”Someone is coming.” Xiao Yi immediately abandoned the idea of trying out his Martial Soul, laid down on the bed, and pretended to sleep.

If the visitor was an enemy, he could lower their guard and would have ample time and opportunity to deal with the enemy.

With a creak, the door opened.

Xiao Yi took a glance using his peripheral vision; a woman had entered the room.

The woman was dressed in simple clothes, her back to him, and she promptly closed the door.

He couldn’t see the woman’s face, but from her figure, the softness of her body, and her graceful steps, she must be beautiful.

”Oh, when will Young Master Xiao Yi wake up?”

The woman’s voice was pleasant, clear, and melodious like a silver bell, filled with worry and care.

She held a bowl of medicine in her hands and approached the bedside.

Xiao Yi realized she was not an enemy and slightly opened his eyes.

Almost the moment he opened his eyes, his eyes widened in shock.

”Holy shit, what ugly monster, daring to scare me,” Xiao Yi exclaimed as he caught sight of the woman’s ugly appearance, which startled him, nearly causing him to punch her instinctively.

It turned out the woman was not a beauty at all, rather plain, and somewhat ugly, with patches of blue and red on her face, looking quite frightening.

”Ah!” the woman cried out in shock, instinctively trying to dodge.

But she was holding medicine; she quickly reacted, did not dodge further but only turned her face away, timidly closing her eyes.

Xiao Yi’s reaction was also quick, immediately stopping his fist.

He was not a person who judged others based on their appearance, nor did he discriminate against others.

It was just the sudden discrepancy between his thoughts and the woman’s appearance that had almost led him to throw a punch.

”Why didn’t you dodge?” Xiao Yi pulled back his fist and asked in a deep voice.

Seeing that Xiao Yi hadn’t hit her, the woman finally opened her eyes, still showing fear on her face.

”This is the life-saving medicine for Young Master Xiao Yi; I couldn’t let it spill. Young Master Xiao Yi, you need to recover quickly,” the woman said timidly.

”Aren’t you afraid of getting hurt by me?” Xiao Yi frowned.

The woman shook her head, ”Yiyi’s life belongs to the young master, you have the right to strike if you wish.”

”You...” Xiao Yi was startled; at that moment, he saw the woman’s face clearly.

Actually, she was just a young girl, her features and face were very delicate, upon close observation, very good-looking.

If she hadn’t been so pale and thin, with patches of blue and red on her face, she would have been an absolute beauty.

”Ah,” the girl suddenly realized, saying, ”Young Master Xiao Yi, you finally woke up; I must quickly inform the Third Elder.”

With that, the girl carefully placed the bowl of medicine on the table and ran off.

Xiao Yi, recalling the memories in his mind, knew.

This girl was named Yiyi, 15 years old.

Having lost both parents in childhood, Xiao Yi’s father, feeling pity for her, had bought her to serve as Xiao Yi’s personal maid.

Yiyi, as a child, was very cute and had a gentle and sensible personality.

However, as Xiao Yi was typically useless, every time he was bullied outside, he would come back and vent his anger on Yiyi.

Yiyi was often abused by him, not getting enough to eat or warm clothes to wear, hence became pale and thin.

Moreover, just the day before Xiao Yi was pushed off a cliff, he had beaten her severely, hence the patches of blue and red on her face.

”Sigh,” Xiao Yi sighed, feeling regretful for his recent actions.

”I am a noble soul, how have I ended up in such a pathetic body?” Xiao Yi felt disgusted with this body for the first time.

Soon after, a middle-aged man hurried into the room.

Xiao Chong, the Third Elder of the Xiao Family, once a confidant of Xiao Yi’s father, now served as the Acting Patriarch.

”You’re awake, really awake, that’s great,” Xiao Chong said incoherently, his face unable to hide his joy.

”What would I have done if something had happened to you, Yii’er, how would I have explained to the Family Head?” Xiao Chong sat by the bed, looking seriously at Xiao Yi.

Seeing that Xiao Yi’s breath was steady, and he was in no great danger, the anxiety in his heart finally subsided.

Xiao Yi’s father had been missing for many years, but Xiao Chong always took care of Xiao Yi.

At this moment, Xiao Chong seemed to remember something, his face’s happiness suddenly turning into distress.

”Sigh, Yii’er, how could you be so careless? Wandering in the back mountain and even falling off the cliff. Sigh, during the days you were unconscious, many things happened in the family...”

Xiao Chong looked distressed, wanting to say something, but upon seeing Xiao Yi’s condition, he suddenly stopped.

”Never mind, you just woke up, you should rest more. The other elders are waiting for me to preside over the family meeting.”

Having said that, Xiao Chong took out a bag of something from his bosom, placed it on the table, took a deep look at Xiao Yi, then slowly left.

Xiao Yi clearly noticed that Xiao Chong’s gaze was complex, filled with concern and affection, but more so with worry.

After Xiao Chong left, Xiao Yi then turned to Yiyi who was beside him and asked, ”Yiyi, what happened?”

Yiyi had come back with Xiao Chong and was currently carefully blowing on the medicine which had become too hot, to cool it down a bit before giving it to Xiao Yi.

Hearing Xiao Yi’s question, Yiyi lifted her head, her expression hesitant and faltering.

”What exactly happened?” Xiao Yi frowned and asked.

Hesitating, Yiyi said softly with concern, ”Young Master, you just woke up and your body is still weak. Drink the medicine and rest for now. The matters of the family, the Third Elder will handle well.”

”Tell me,” Xiao Yi said.

”This...” Yiyi lowered her head, twisting her clothes troubledly.

”Speak!” Xiao Yi rebuked her.

Startled, Yiyi shuddered and couldn’t defy Xiao Yi, so she had to tell the truth, ”Young Master, during the days you were unconscious, Lady Jiao’er came to visit and called off your engagement.”

Afraid Xiao Yi couldn’t cope with the shock, Yiyi hastily added, ”Young Master, during the days you were unconscious, everyone thought you were beyond rescue, and Lady Jiao’er was just considering her own happiness. Now that you are awake, just inform Lady Jiao’er, and she will definitely change her mind.”

”Oh.” Xiao Yi chuckled, indifferently saying, ”I thought it was something serious. She will not change her mind. Moreover, such a malicious woman, it’s better that our engagement is off.”

”Eh?” Yiyi was taken aback, inwardly thinking, Could the Young Master have hurt his brain in the fall? Lady Jiao’er is the most beautiful woman in the entire city, the daughter of the Murong Family; which man would not be smitten?

Purple Cloud City, the Three Great Families, Xiao Family, Murong Family, Jiang Family.

”Any other matters?” Xiao Yi continued.

Yiyi replied, ”There’s also the elders in the family, saying they want to strip you of your position as Young Master.”

Xiao Yi suddenly understood.

The former Xiao Yi, with low talent and a cowardly nature, was simply not fit for the position of Young Master. All the elders looked down on him and were very dissatisfied.

This time, to wander aimlessly in the back mountain and fall off a cliff, was truly the ultimate failure, bringing shame to the entire Xiao Family.

The elders naturally wouldn’t allow him to continue sitting in the position of Young Master.

”So-called ’no smoke without fire’, surely someone is behind this.” Xiao Yi scoffed coldly.

He knew that even if he spoke out the truth, that he was pushed down the cliff by Xiao Ruohan, no one in the Xiao Family would believe him.

After all, one was a disgrace to the family.

While the other was a family’s genius whose future was promising.

”Young Master, the medicine is ready.” Yiyi took the medicine, preparing to administer it to Xiao Yi.

Just then, hurried footsteps and noisy voices could be heard outside.

”That waste, Xiao Yi, is really lucky to survive falling down from the back mountain.”

”It’s better he didn’t die. That trash dying would deprive us of so much fun.”

”...”

A series of mocking and disdainful comments reached their ears.

With a ”bang”, the door was kicked open violently, and two youths walked in.

”Xiao Jie, Xiao Shi.” Xiao Yi frowned.

Xiao Jie, son of the Seventh Elder; Xiao Shi, son of the Eighth Elder.

In theory, both were Xiao Yi’s cousins.

However, they never regarded Xiao Yi as a cousin, always bullying him and seizing his cultivation resources.

Previously, they would at least incessantly mock and play tricks on him; at worst, they would beat him up, leaving Xiao Yi’s body covered in bruises.

”Indeed, the Third Elder gave this waste the cultivation resources.” Xiao Jie noticed the bag on the table at a glance.

The Xiao Family Disciples, every month, were allotted silver taels and Elixir Elixirs by the family to assist them in their cultivation.

”Get out immediately,” Xiao Yi said coldly, staring at the two.

”Oh, look, the little trash has grown a temper.”

”Ha ha, maybe that trash has hurt his brain after the fall.”

Xiao Jie and Xiao Shi scornfully mocked as they arrogantly approached Xiao Yi.

They were accustomed to seizing Xiao Yi’s cultivation resources, accustomed to bullying Xiao Yi.

”You two big bullies, don’t think about harming Young Master Xiao Yi.” Yiyi stepped in front of the bed.

Yiyi grabbed a stick by the bedside and swung it wildly, trying to scare Xiao Jie and Xiao Shi away, and to protect the ’weak’ Xiao Yi.
