Chapter 31: Chapter 30: Martial Technique

”So I’m asking you, what do you think?” the Great Elder said, his words hinting at something deeper.

”You little brat, what the Great Elder means is, have you really committed such an outrageous act, is the rumor true or not?” the Second Elder asked directly, obviously impatient.

Xiao Yi’s tone remained the same as he countered, ”What do you think? If the rumors are true, are you going to hand me over?”

”Nonsense.” The Second Elder snapped coldly, ”If you truly are that heartless and mad, would we still protect you?”

”Heh,” Xiao Yi suddenly laughed out loud.

”You little brat, you can still laugh?” The Second Elder was instantly furious.

He was a Martial Arts Fool and a rough man. His angry, bushy appearance did indeed look intimidating.

Xiao Yi spread his hands and said, ”Alright, I admit, the rumors are true, go ahead and hand me over.”

”You little miscreant, you...” the Second Elder glared with wide eyes.

”Yii’er, don’t talk nonsense,” the Third Elder quickly tugged at Xiao Yi.

”Enough.” The Great Elder gestured with his hand for the Second and Third Elders to hold their tongues.

Despite this, the Second Elder still seethed, ”Great Elder, look at this little brat Xiao Yi, acting like a dead pig that’s not afraid of boiling water, I really want to peel his skin and give him a good beating.”

The Great Elder signaled for the Second Elder to be calm and turned towards Xiao Yi, asking, ”Are you really not afraid we will hand you over?”

Xiao Yi didn’t answer but instead asked, ”So, will you hand me over?”

The Great Elder looked Xiao Yi over seriously, then smiled, ”Of course not, as the Young Master of the Xiao Family, you represent the Xiao Family. It’s not the place of the Murong Family to deal with you.”

Xiao Yi smiled, ”There you have it.”

The Second Elder erupted again, ”Whether we hand you over or not is one thing, but what about your tone and attitude?”

”Let it be,” the Great Elder interjected, ”This kid knew all along that we wouldn’t hand you over; he’s just trying to play you, to anger you on purpose.”

The Second Elder was startled and asked, ”What do you mean?”

Xiao Yi laughed, ”You’ve already had the answer in your minds; there was no need to ask me.”

The Second Elder still looked puzzled, ”What’s that supposed to mean?”

”Idiot,” the Great Elder cursed.

Xiao Yi explained, ”Does the Second Elder think that other Young Masters are as miserable as I am? Which of them doesn’t have a strong protector? Murong Jiao’er is the precious daughter of the current Family Head of the Murong Family. She’s usually protected by at least three Postnatal Realm Martial Artists. With my modest Cultivation, it would be strange if I could overpower her.”

Xiao Yi continued, ”As for what the Great Elder asked me earlier, I fear it wasn’t about Murong Jiao’er, but rather about Murong Qianjun.”

”Smart,” the Great Elder praised, sounding satisfied, ”Anyone with a bit of sense wouldn’t believe such rumors.”

With that, the Great Elder glanced at the Second Elder.

The Second Elder’s face turned embarrassed, pretending not to see the Great Elder’s look.

The Great Elder went on, ”It’s clear that the Murong Family is just looking for trouble, but since it was Murong Qianjun causing the disturbance, we older generation don’t have the right to confront him.”

Xiao Yi picked up the conversation, ”Don’t worry, if Murong Qianjun dares to run wild in the Xiao Family, I, Xiao Yi, will not be afraid of him and will naturally retrieve our honor.”

”Very good, that’s the spirit,” the Great Elder praised again.

”However,” the Great Elder immediately turned serious, ”Murong Qianjun is strong, his talent surpasses even Xiao Ruokuang’s, and he became famous earlier. Three years ago, he was already a renowned talent, a Postnatal First Layer Martial Artist, and by now he must be at least Postnatal Fifth Layer or higher in Cultivation.”

”Even a regular Deacon within our family is no match for him, are you confident you can retrieve our honor?”

Xiao Yi nodded, ”Yes, just pick a date, and I will personally go to the Murong Family to find him.”

Just at that moment, a family member ran in with an urgent look on his face, apparently looking for the Third Elder.

”Uh,” this person hesitated upon seeing the Great Elder and Second Elder were present.

Seeing this, the Third Elder scolded, ”What’s got you so flustered?”

The family member then came to his senses, tried to say something, but seeing Xiao Yi present, he suddenly stammered.

”What’s the matter, speak frankly,” the Third Elder said.

”Reporting to the Third Elder,” the family member finally spoke, ”News has come from our people at the Meteorite Mountain Range that, because of the recent rumors about our Young Master, the younger generation of the Murong Family has started to aggressively target the Xiao Family’s youth.”

”According to the message, under the leadership of Murong Qianjun, many of our Xiao Family’s disciples were injured, although there were no casualties, but many were seriously injured.”

In the Meteorite Mountain Range, located outside of Purple Cloud City, there exists a large number of Purple Cloud Iron Ore Veins.

Purple Cloud Iron is a valuable type of iron ore, widely used in the creation of weapons and commanding a high price.

Legend has it that at sunset, the Purple Cloud Iron Mines emit a dazzling purple light that turns the entire skyline purple, an exceedingly beautiful sight.

Purple Cloud City got its name from this phenomenon and has since become the most famous city in the vicinity.

The Xiao Family, as one of the Three Great Families in Purple Cloud City, possesses a large territory within the Meteorite Mountain Range and several large Purple Cloud Iron Ore Veins.

Furthermore, the Meteorite Mountain Range is home to innumerable demon beasts and perilous places, making it incredibly dangerous. Therefore, the family always has strong Martial Artists stationed there year-round.

The young disciples of the family also mostly train there.

The clan members continued reporting, ”After our Xiao Family’s disciples were injured, they were forcibly driven away, and several small Purple Cloud Iron Ore Veins were forcefully taken by people from the Murong Family.”

”Dammit,” the temperamental Second Elder exclaimed in rage.

The Great Elder’s expression turned dark, ”The Murong Family has been ambitious for years, attempting to dominate Purple Cloud City. The baseless slander against Xiao Yi and the seizure of the Purple Cloud Iron Ore Veins are probably just the beginning.”

The Third Elder immediately said, ”Great Elder, you need not worry, I will lead our family’s Martial Artists to the Meteorite Mountain Range right now to put pressure on them.”

”That won’t do,” the Great Elder shook his head and said, ”After all, it is a matter among the younger generation. If we as their seniors go there, we will only break the rules and essentially declare hostility with the Murong Family. There is no need to escalate the situation.”

”I’ll go,” Xiao Yi said indifferently.

”Since Murong Qianjun is in the Meteorite Mountain Range, it saves me the trouble of going to the Murong Family.”

”Are you confident?” the Great Elder asked gravely.

”Yes.”

”When will you leave?”

”Tomorrow.”

”So soon?” the Great Elder frowned.

A cold light flashed in Xiao Yi’s eyes as he said, ”Since they always like to plot against me, I don’t mind repaying them tenfold.”

The Great Elder, Second Elder, and Third Elder felt the overwhelming chill and were taken aback, wondering where Xiao Yi’s confidence came from.

After all, Murong Qianjun’s reputation and skill were well known.

Suddenly, the Second Elder spoke, ”Kid, your confidence stems from those unusual moves of yours, doesn’t it?”

”Is there a problem?” Xiao Yi retorted.

”Of course, there is,” the Second Elder said, ”You underestimate Postnatal Realm Martial Artists too much. Don’t think that just because you defeated Xiao Ruokuang, you can be complacent. I’m telling you, there’s a huge gap between you at Mortal Realm Ninth Layer and Murong Qianjun.”

”Enough about that,” the Second Elder continued, ”Kid, do you know why the Great Elder and I are here today?”

”Isn’t it about Murong Qianjun’s issue?” asked Xiao Yi, puzzled.

”That’s just one reason,” the Second Elder said.

”Oh?” Xiao Yi showed a puzzled expression.

The Great Elder then asked, ”Xiao Yi, who taught you the Alchemy Technique?”

Xiao Yi shrugged and said, ”No one. I just refined again and again, and suddenly I got the hang of it.”

”What about your Cultivation?” the Great Elder continued, ”How did it improve so quickly, and those weird moves?”

Xiao Yi still replied, ”I just trained and trained, and suddenly I made a breakthrough and came to understand those moves.”

”Just trained and trained, you’re fooling ghosts,” the Second Elder accused with disbelief.

”I have no need to lie to you,” Xiao Yi spread his hands.

The Great Elder laughed and said, ”Fine, we won’t force you if you don’t want to tell us. This time, our main purpose is to give you something.”

With that, the Great Elder took out a book from his chest and said, ”This is the sum of my lifetime’s experience in refining medicine, along with some pill recipes. Take it and have a look. If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can always ask me.”

The Second Elder also took out two books from his chest and said, ”These are the two most profound Martial Techniques of our Xiao Family. Likewise, if there’s anything you don’t understand, you can come to me.”

”Martial Techniques?” Xiao Yi’s eyes lit up. He had little interest in alchemy knowledge, but he was extremely enthusiastic about martial arts.
