Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 29: Chapter 28: Ice and Fire Qi Pill

Upon returning home and taking a brief rest, Xiao Yi left the Xiao Family to purchase materials for refining elixirs.

With the 5000 taels ”gifted” from the Fifth Elder, it would be foolish not to use them. By refining more elixirs, he could swiftly enhance his cultivation.

To others, the practice of martial arts might be monotonous, dull, and rigorous; but for Xiao Yi, it was a fascinating endeavor.

He possessed a Martial Arts Heart that others found difficult to attain, which was why back on Earth he managed to comprehend the True Intent of Xingyi Fist and became a grandmaster of the generation.

This so-called Martial Arts Heart might sound mystical; in reality, it represented a state or will—a relentless, unremitting pursuit and exploration of higher martial arts.

It was a quest, and also a manifestation of pure dedication.

True genius was never just about talent, but also about possessing a rare and resilient heart.

After purchasing the ingredients, Xiao Yi began his alchemy.

Refining elixirs was both time-consuming and labor-intensive.

Transforming the True Qi within his body into flames and then patiently controlling the temperature of these flames not only depleted his True Qi, but also his mental energy, resulting in significant fatigue.

However, once his True Qi was exhausted and he then continued to absorb the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy to replenish his True Qi, it, in fact, achieved the effect of cultivation.

And continuous, high-intensity refining like Xiao Yi’s was extremely beneficial for his cultivation.

Three days later, Xiao Yi finally stopped refining when all the ingredients were processed.

Given Xiao Yi’s flawless alchemy skills and speed, three days was relatively long.

He had purchased materials worth 3000 taels and had crafted nearly four hundred Nine Revolutions Body Refining Pills.

”Four hundred Nine Revolutions Body Refining Pills should be enough,” Xiao Yi murmured to himself after a moment of thought.

He was ready to condense the Qi Pill.

The three days of refining had somewhat stabilized his Mortal Realm Ninth Layer state.

Now, he could consider making a breakthrough.

There are nine major realms in martial arts cultivation: Mortal Realm, Postnatal, Innate, Mysterious Profundity, Mystic Breakthrough, Earth Origin, Heavenly Element, Earth Extreme, and Heavenly Extreme.

Each realm is subdivided into nine layers; reaching the Ninth Layer allows one to break through to the next great realm.

Each realm has different breakthrough requirements.

To transition from the Mortal Realm Ninth Layer to the Postnatal realm, one must temper the Dantian into a Qi Pill.

This is what is meant by condensing the Qi Pill.

Four hundred Nine Revolutions Body Refining Pills might seem a lot, but according to Xiao Yi’s estimate, it was just enough to condense his Qi Pill.

Condensing the Qi Pill was exceedingly difficult, requiring a vast amount of power.

Considering the vast Xiao Family, numbering in the thousands, but only having a few dozen Postnatal Deacons, it’s evident how difficult it is to condense the Qi Pill.

Many martial artists, even after training for most of their lives, could not break through to the Postnatal realm, illustrating the immense power required.

This was why Xiao Ruohan had sought to cultivate in the Purple Cloud Cave to help condense the Qi Pill.

The rich spiritual energy of the Purple Cloud Cave indeed greatly increased the chances of success.

Now that Xiao Yi was not in the Purple Cloud Cave, he had to rely on elixirs.

After making some preparations, Xiao Yi began to ingest the elixirs.

Pill by pill, the elixirs were ingested and, with the aid of the Ice Phoenix Sword, quickly transformed into pure spiritual energy that circulated through his limbs and organs.

A part of it continued to temper his body, while the remainder was absorbed by the Dantian.

The continual surge of spiritual energy relentlessly cleansed his Dantian, making it increasingly condensed, solidified, and flawless.

Quantitative change slowly led to qualitative change.

A misty glow emanated from the Dantian, extraordinarily beautiful.

This was a transformation.

After swallowing two hundred Nine Revolutions Body Refining Pills, his Dantian had transformed by half.

Xiao Yi nodded to himself in satisfaction, confirming that his estimate was correct.

When he had broken through to the Mortal Realm Fifth Layer, it took twenty Nine Revolutions Body Refining Pills. Considering that the required spiritual energy doubled with each advancement in a Mortal Realm Warrior’s cultivation, four hundred pills should be sufficient for condensing the Qi Pill.

The transformation process of the Dantian was marvelous; the faint misty glow was warm and comfortable.

Gradually, Xiao Yi immersed himself in this comfort.

However, he didn’t know how long had passed when he suddenly felt a stab of pain in his body, originating from the Dantian.

”What’s going on?” Xiao Yi was startled and immediately performed introspection.

Upon inspection, he was immediately shocked.

The misty glow had, at some point, transformed into an intertwining power of red and blue.

The two powers alternated, weaving and surging like ice and fire colliding against each other.

Xiao Yi was initially puzzled, but then he understood.

A martial artist cultivates by absorbing the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy with their Martial Soul, which then transmits it to the Dantian.

Depending on the attribute of the Martial Soul, it would transform the Spiritual Energy into the same attribute power, eventually ’cleansing’ the Dantian.

If it were a Fire Attribute Martial Soul, the eventual condensed Dantian would become a fiery red Qi Pill.

The forming of a Qi Pill, also known as transformation, is because the Qi Pill mobilizes Spiritual Energy faster and more fiercely, enhancing the martial artist’s combat strength.

Only a Qi Pill that matches one’s own Martial Soul can allow a martial artist to exert their strongest power.

However, he had Twin Martial Souls.

Within the Dantian, the Fire Control Beast Martial Soul on the left and the Ice Phoenix Sword Soul on the right, both transforming powers of fire and ice, naturally led to two powers impacting and cleansing the Dantian.

It was because of these two different and opposing powers constantly intertwining that he was experiencing the current pain in his Dantian.

As the saying goes, water and fire are incompatible, the continuous colliding of two mutually restraining powers is extremely dangerous.

One careless move could completely destroy the Dantian.

”Damn it, to think that this would happen,” Xiao Yi clenched his teeth.

”This is bad. If I continue, once the two powers lose balance, the Dantian will definitely be damaged, even to the point of losing all my cultivation; but if I give up now, I must completely disperse the previously accumulated power.”

”I must persevere, fortune favors the bold. I’ve faced great storms before, and I refuse to believe I can’t overcome this one.”

If it were someone else, they would certainly panic.

But Xiao Yi immediately steadied his mind and made a decision without any hesitation.

A martial artist inherently needs a heart brave enough to boldly go forward.

”Let’s risk it all,” Xiao Yi shouted in his heart and continued swallowing Elixir Pills.

Another wave of pure power entered his stomach, transforming into ice and fire power cleansing the Dantian.

Xiao Yi nervously controlled the absorption speed, not daring to slack in the slightest.

As time ticked by, Xiao Yi did not know how much time had passed, until, when he had completely swallowed four hundred Nine Revolutions Body Refining Pills, he was already drenched in sweat with his clothes completely soaked.

”Finally, it’s done,” Xiao Yi sighed in relief and gave a faint smile.

In that highly tense situation, fraught with great danger, he still managed to stabilize his mind without any negligence and finally completed the Qi Pill condensation.

It was lucky that Xiao Yi had exceptional willpower, or else the consequences would have been unpredictable.

Xiao Yi did a quick introspection and saw that his Dantian had now turned into a Qi Pill with alternating red and blue.

The left half red, and the right half blue.

For now, he would name this unique Qi Pill the Ice and Fire Qi Pill.

On both sides of the Ice and Fire Qi Pill, the Fire Control Beast Martial Soul stood on the left, and the Ice Phoenix Sword Soul on the right, silently stationed.

”Ha!” Xiao Yi stood up, then threw a punch to test its power.

Utilizing the Qi Pill to mobilize the internal Spiritual Energy, his punch vibrated the air, demonstrating formidable power.

”It’s incredibly strong; the speed and fierceness of mobilizing Spiritual Energy are more than ten times stronger than my previous Dantian,” Xiao Yi was secretly astonished.

Before condensing the Qi Pill, Xiao Yi had consulted the Third Elder regarding important precautions.

Condensing a Qi Pill is a significant barrier for a Mortal Realm Warrior and of utmost priority, so it was natural for Xiao Yi to thoroughly understand the circumstances beforehand.

According to the Third Elder, after the Qi Pill is formed, its power is about five times that of the Dantian.

Of course, that was for a normal Qi Pill.

But the Ice and Fire Qi Pill was more than ten times stronger than the Dantian.

That meant that the foundation Xiao Yi built now was much stronger compared to other martial artists of the same level; his power would also be evidently stronger, and not just by a little bit.
