Ning An's Wild Wish System

Then, ”He” turned around and left, disappearing without a trace in just a few breaths.

Even though Ning An had opened the Dharma Eye, he couldn’t find ”His” silhouette.

”This is really strange.”

Ning An shook his head, suppressing his doubts, and continued wandering through the temple fair.

After the temple fair, he began to wander around aimlessly. When the sky darkened, Ning An returned to Changchun Temple.

...

The next day.

Ning An got up early and started a new day.

After washing up and tidying the Daoist Temple a bit more, Ning An opened the main door of the temple.

As if knowing he would open the door at this time, the sound of a honk came from the foot of the mountain.

In the blink of an eye, Officer Xiaoli arrived at the temple’s entrance.

”Eh? Officer Xiaoli, are you here to burn incense?” Upon seeing Officer Xiaoli, Ning An was somewhat surprised.

In his understanding, Officer Xiaoli didn’t seem like someone who would worship gods and burn incense.

As expected, Officer Xiaoli shook his head: ”I want to ask the Daoist Master for a favor, to let two elderly folks make a wish.”

”Hmm? Can you explain more?”

”The son of those two elderly people was a good friend of mine.” Officer Xiaoli sat down and spoke slowly.

The good friend Officer Xiaoli spoke of was Zhang Yuan, an ordinary worker.

The only thing noteworthy about him was probably that he was a team leader of the Blue Sky Rescue.

He lived in the same district as Officer Xiaoli, having grown up together, and they had been classmates from kindergarten to high school, truly good brothers.

Zhang Yuan’s father was originally a maintenance worker in a state-owned enterprise, and his mother was a textile factory worker.

Later, due to national policies, both spouses were laid off, but fortunately, they were skillful and rented a storefront in the district to run a noodle shop.

Officer Xiaoli’s parents were police officers, often out in the wind and rain, coming home late was routine.

Whenever they came home late, they would go to Zhang Yuan’s parents’ noodle shop to eat a warm bowl of ramen, and gradually, the two families became close.

During his schooling, Zhang Yuan’s grades were never good, not because he wasn’t smart, but because he didn’t focus on his studies, often skipping class to play online or sleeping soundly during lessons, leading to poor academic performance.

After the college entrance examination, his score was only enough to attend an ordinary second-tier university, but at least it was a university education.

However, even in university, he continued to stick to his own ways, which his father couldn’t tolerate, so he was sent into the military for three years of training.

After being discharged, he seemed like a changed person, not completely transformed, but at least he knew how to strive for progress.

He directly joined the local Blue Sky Rescue, and with unique charisma and solid skills, he quickly became a locally well-known figure.

Originally, according to the script, this might have been a unique journey, but an unexpected event turned everything into an illusory bubble.

Zhang Yuan was only twenty-six years old when he sacrificed himself, dying in a voluntary rescue mission.

That day was a Friday, and after working overtime at the company, he contacted a few good brothers for some enjoyable gaming.

Unexpectedly, he encountered a drowning incident.

The call from the Blue Sky Rescue team was urgent, and he couldn’t think too much, asking the team to bring the equipment while he went ahead.

It was at an abandoned reservoir where a university student, in despair, jumped in and was struggling for life in the water.

A growing crowd gathered around, but no one dared to jump in and save her.

Seeing the girl about to succumb, Zhang Yuan didn’t hesitate and jumped in to save her.

He often joked about being a water monkey, a Loach Spirit by the Dragon King, claiming no water could trap him.

If not for the girl’s frantic struggles, pushing Zhang Yuan further into the depths, perhaps he would still have been fine.

In the end, it turned into just another cliché story, the girl was saved without a word of thanks, and for her privacy, her face was blurred in all public appearances.

But the boy’s sacrifice caused no ripple, as if his life was a bloom with no trace, a fleeting blossom.

Thinking about this, Ning An had some impression, as this incident had caused quite a stir online.

Later, due to intense public opinion, the girl was forced to come forward and apologize, and the matter was buried after that.

”They heard the incense at Changchun Temple is effective, but due to health reasons, they can’t come here.” Officer Xiaoli continued.

”No problem, we can do it via video, and I can burn incense on behalf of the elderly,” Ning An nodded, providing a suitable solution.

Officer Xiaoli awkwardly scratched his head: ”That’s where the issue is, they’re quite stubborn, wanting to personally worship, saying that sincerity is most effective.”

”Hiss...”

Ning An felt a headache, as they couldn’t come to the temple and wouldn’t accept video incense burning.

He couldn’t possibly move the temple to them so that they could burn incense?

”The two elderly said that if it succeeds, they would contribute thirty thousand incense money to the Ancestor.”

”Are the elders in a hurry? If not, we can leave now.”

Ning An instantly thought this matter wasn’t unnegotiable after all.

Burning incense for the Ancestor, a surefire spiritual response, is nothing but a facade covering up for the system.

The real wish granter is the system attached to him.

As long as others burn incense and make a wish, once the system knows, that wish can be fulfilled.

According to the swindler’s rhetoric: sincerity leads to effectiveness, wish sincerely, the Ancestor in the heavens can see it.
