Ning An's Wild Wish System

The sound was deliberately adjusted loud, so that the livestream audience could hear it clearly.

”Lawyer Wang, this is a small token of my appreciation, please do accept it.”

”Oh, please respect my professional ethics, I absolutely cannot accept this.”

”Lawyer Wang, you see, you are in a hurry again. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have gotten my mental illness certificate, which you deserve.”

”Well, then I graciously accept it, this is nothing to me. As long as you have the money, even if it’s the divine peaches from the heavens, I can find a way to pick them for you.”

”Lawyer Wang is indeed a gold-standard lawyer, thank you so much.”

”...”

The two-and-a-half-minute recording was distinct, as if it had just happened.

Anyone could tell that the voices in the recording were those of Zhang Xiaodan and the hue in her bathroom.

”Turns out the money donated by others to that crazy woman was all used here.”

Li Yang, sitting in the plaintiff’s seat, glanced thoughtfully at the other side.

No wonder Brother Gang couldn’t track the whereabouts of this money before, clearly, it was transferred directly by Zhang Xiaodan into the law firm, exchanging it for a get-out-of-jail-free card.

In a place like a law firm, the hidden relationships run deep, so it’s normal for Brother Gang to be unable to monitor them.

”I believe everyone heard it clearly. The two characters in this recording are Zhao Xiaodan and her lawyer.”

As Lawyer Gao finished speaking, Wang Yi suddenly felt a chill down his spine.

He didn’t have time to ponder the origin of this recording, clearing himself from any association was paramount.

”Your Honor, with today’s advanced network technology, as far as I know, current AI software can extract a person’s vocal tone and successfully simulate someone else’s speech.”

”Everyone might have come across, for instance, President Lei singing ’Are you ok,’ or some speaking fluent Dragon Country language online, which we can’t distinguish.”

”Furthermore, the origin of this recording file is unclear, so how can it be considered compelling evidence?”

Wang Yi stood up, and started with a barrage of arguments.

First, muddy the waters, then provide examples to diminish the file’s credibility, to achieve his objective.

Despite the arguments being somewhat tenuous, they weren’t entirely without merit.

In today’s society, AI developments are exceedingly swift, leading to transformative changes in many industries.

For instance, the evidence like this recording, due to AI, the cost of fabrication has greatly reduced, even to none,

resulting in many trials where recordings can only serve as auxiliary evidence rather than main evidence.

The female judge nodded her head, feeling somewhat relieved.

She was pleaded to take money from Zhang Xiaodan, but that didn’t mean she could arbitrarily influence the trial process.

For instance, just now, the plaintiff’s lawyer provided key evidence, and though reluctant, she could only convict Zhang Xiaodan.

Now, although Wang Yi’s arguments are somewhat far-fetched, they remain reasonable.

As long as they are reasonable, she can find ways to influence the final outcome.

”May I ask the plaintiff’s lawyer, is there more compelling evidence proving my client’s mental illness certificate is fake? If so, please continue.”

Seeing the scales tilt back in his favor, Wang Yi felt relieved and sarcastically mocked.

But before he could finish speaking, Li Yang stood up with a smile.

”We anticipated this situation long ago.”

”Since you say the recording proves nothing, let’s bring out the big guns!”

”Before this trial, we have contacted five renowned mental health experts both domestically and internationally, who can conduct comprehensive evaluations on Zhang Xiaodan to reach a final conclusion.”

Li Yang spoke calmly, but with great confidence.

And this confidence naturally came from his rich yet gossip-loving foster father, Brother Gang!

Upon hearing this, the female judge was shocked.

She couldn’t fathom how a mere slander case could escalate to this level.

Nor did she expect the plaintiff to prepare so extensively to win the case.

”Mental health experts... on-site evaluation...”

The originally delirious Zhang Xiaodan froze upon hearing these words.

She knew clearly in her heart that the recording was genuine.

The current situation she put herself in was entirely feigned, unable to withstand scrutiny.

Without waiting for Wang Yi to speak beside her, she twisted on the ground, saying painfully:

”That... that recording is real, my mental illness certificate was indeed bought.”

Her mental defenses were too fragile, having already been breached before, and now utterly defeated.

With these words, both her defense lawyer and the female judge’s expressions changed completely.

At the same time, this meant that the dramatic scene would now come to an end.

A few minutes later.

The jury and the presiding judge exchanged views.

Even unwillingly, the female judge could only grit her teeth and deliver the verdict:

”Plaintiff lawyer’s submitted evidence is valid.”

”Defendant Zhang Xiaodan is found guilty of slander, invasion of privacy, assault, and multiple other charges, with crimes clearly established.”

”According to the Criminal Law of our country, the court issues the following judgment against the defendant:”

”Slander and insult carry a sentence of one and a half years of imprisonment; invasion of privacy carries two years of imprisonment; assault carries one year of imprisonment; defamation carries one and a half years of imprisonment.”

”That’s all.”

”The aggregate sentence pronounced by the Z City Intermediate People’s Court is a total of six and a half years of imprisonment.”

”Given the severity of this case and its extensive social impact, the defendant is not eligible for probation!”
