The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Xie Kun was very nervous.

Xiao Yuan looked at him for a while: ”I have to see your family’s people to know, but if you’re not at ease, I can have my daughter take a look at you.”

”Your daughter?”

Xie Kun was taken aback.

He had investigated the Xiao Family’s matters, knowing Xiao Yuan had three daughters, one adopted and two biological. The daughter Xiao Yuan mentioned should be his eldest, Xiao Lu. This Xiao Lu recently started delving into mysticism; she’s probably just a novice. What could she possibly see?

Anning saw through Xie Kun’s thoughts: ”Our Lulu has a natural pair of discerning eyes and a naturally endowed Daoist bone. Things others can’t see, she might be able to perceive.”

Xie Kun understood, it’s similar to cultivation, with Xiao Lu having a solid foundation since birth, she naturally excels over others who struggle for years to hone their skills.

He nodded, and Xiao Yuan called Xiao Lu.

Today was Sunday, and Xiao Lu was resting at home. When Xiao Yuan called, she was doing exercises and upon receiving the call, she asked the four: ”Mom and Dad are having lunch at Grandma’s today; do you want to go over?”

Anning and Xiao Yuan didn’t like cooking or eating out, so eating at the Qin house was certainly preferable.

Thus, the five siblings rode their bicycles to the Qin house.

When Xiao Lu and the rest arrived, Mr. Qin had just returned, and Mrs. Qin had just placed the food on the table. Seeing the five kids come in, she smiled and said, ”Finally, hurry up and wash your hands for dinner.”

To entertain Xie Kun, Mrs. Qin had prepared a lavish meal with eight dishes and a soup, filling the table.

The five kids were hungry, instantly delighted at the sight of the table full of dishes.

Zhao Xiaocong washed his hands and picked up the chopsticks to grab some food: ”Wow, so much meat.”

Mrs. Qin glared at him: ”The guest hasn’t touched the food yet, why are you in such a hurry?”

Even though Xie Kun had concerns on his mind, he quickly waved his hand, saying: ”No problem, no problem, we’re all familiar here, no need for formalities, kids go ahead and eat if you’re hungry.”

He was still thinking these are all his nephews, who should call him uncle. As an elder, how could he quibble with the younger generation?

Mrs. Qin called Mr. Qin, joining Xie Kun, ten people in total, around the table.

After the meal, Xiao Yuan invited Xie Kun and Xiao Lu to a separate room.

Xiao Yuan closed the door and pointed at Xie Kun, asking Xiao Lu: ”Take a good look at him, see if there’s anything wrong with him, and also see if you can calculate if his family is in any danger.”

Xiao Lu furrowed her brow.

She scrutinized Xie Kun: ”Are you from the Xie Family in the capital?”

Xie Kun nodded.

A great surge of waves rose in Xiao Lu’s mind.

The Xie Family, the unfortunate Xie Family in her memory.

In Xiao Lu’s memory, before she died, the Xie Family had already completely fallen, not because the descendants were incompetent but because almost everyone in the Xie Family had died.

She scrutinized Xie Kun further, frowning deeper: ”Are you cursed?”

Xiao Yuan nodded: ”I just helped relieve him, but there’s still some Evil Qi in his body.”

Xiao Lu looked at Xiao Yuan: ”Dad, please give him one of the Evil Extinguishing Talismans you made.”

Xiao Yuan took out a talisman and gave it to Xie Kun: ”Keep it with you. Don’t part with it even when you shower.”

Xie Kun took it solemnly and then hid it securely.

Xiao Lu circled Xie Kun a few times: ”Judging by your appearance, there might be a major incident in your family soon... someone close to you is going to pass away.”

Xie Kun was so scared that he could hardly stand: ”Who is it?”

Xiao Lu shook her head: ”I can’t see, but it should be someone especially close to you, and it’s an elder. Judging by this, it seems your family is also cursed.”

Xie Kun turned pale: ”What should I do then?”

He tightly grabbed Xiao Yuan: ”Master, you have to save me, our whole family has always been kind, never done anything atrocious, you can’t just leave us to die.”

Xiao Yuan didn’t look well either.

He glanced at Xiao Lu, then told her: ”Go outside and find your mom, tell her everything honestly if she asks.”

Xiao Lu nodded and went out.

Only then did Xiao Yuan say to Xie Kun: ”Here’s what we’ll do, I’ll go to the capital with you soon. We need to see the situation to deal with it. If your family is truly cursed, we need to lift it as soon as possible, so you won’t be constantly on edge.”

”Okay, okay.”

Xie Kun quickly pulled a card out of his pocket and handed it to Xiao Yuan: ”This is my savings, Master, take it. I’ll give you more once we get to the capital.”

Xiao Yuan accepted the card: ”You book the plane tickets, we’ll depart tomorrow.”

After sorting everything out, Xiao Yuan and Xie Kun emerged from the room.

Mrs. Qin had been worrying; seeing the two come out, she quickly asked: ”Is everything okay?”

Xiao Yuan softly said: ”Lulu said the whole family is cursed, and if we don’t find a way to lift it, none of them will live long.”

”Who would be so heartless.”

Mrs. Qin angrily began to curse: ”This is simply insane, how can anyone be so vicious? This is truly devoid of conscience, deserves to be struck by lightning.”

After a good scold, Mrs. Qin said to Xiao Yuan: ”Do take a good look when you get there, be careful too. I’ve heard those Heavenly Masters can kill without a trace, sometimes you don’t even know how you got hurt, we have to be cautious.”

Xiao Yuan nodded: ”Mom, don’t worry, I have it all in mind.”

After returning from the Qin house, Anning let the kids play on their own while she and Xiao Yuan went to the study to talk.

”The curse on Xie Kun and the sealing technique on Lulu seem the same, probably done by the same person.”

Closing the door to the study, Anning told Xiao Yuan her thoughts.

Xiao Yuan’s expression was somber: ”I also think it’s from the same person.”

Anning was genuinely puzzled: ”If it’s Sun Hong, I understand why he’d curse my parents, me, and An Ping, and why he wants the Xie Family dead, considering my mother is the Xie Family’s own daughter. Cursing us is to eradicate us, erasing any chances to expose this matter. If we hadn’t come, this body would’ve long been dead, and the Qin Family too. As for the Xie Family, it’d be about inheriting their wealth and connections. But why target Lulu, a child who neither provoked nor offended him?”

Xiao Yuan hugged Anning: ”Don’t worry, I’ll go to the capital and get to the bottom of this.”

”Be careful.” Anning reminded.

Xiao Yuan nodded: ”Take care of the kids at home. If anything changes, take them and find a place to hide.”

Anning looked steadily at Xiao Yuan, and after a while, she nodded: ”I understand.”
