Not Being a Trainer This Time

But to achieve victory, those two will surely give it their all to teach Kubfu.

Undoubtedly, this is a rare, great opportunity for Kubfu.

Let’s not mention Groudon for now, because Naoki doesn’t know what use it might have.

But Kyogre, the Sea God’s Mysteries of Water, is indeed a substantial assistance for Kubfu.

Originally, Kubfu took inspiration from the river’s sometimes rapid, sometimes calm waters, perfecting the Water Style and creating the move [Surging Strikes].

And now...

If Kubfu’s source of inspiration were to shift from the usual river water to the Sea God’s seawater, what kind of insights would it gain?

At a glance, seawater and river water don’t seem all that different.

But in essence, they are vastly different; the capacity and expanse of seawater far surpass those of an ordinary river.

When the sea is calm, when the sea becomes waves, boundless and everlasting...

Thinking this, Naoki posted a message in the Legendary Beast chat group.

[Wing King: Great, I’ll take my Pokemon to the World Tree tomorrow afternoon when I have time.]

Early the next morning, Dragonite flew to Levincia City and picked up Lono to the ranch.

As soon as Lono landed, Greavard excitedly rushed to meet her.

”Woof woof!”

”Alright, alright!” Lono gently patted Greavard’s head, then stood up and handed a bouquet of flowers to Naoki: ”Hehe, a gift for you!”

Naoki was stunned on the spot, trying hard to remember if today was a holiday, but after thinking for a long time, he realized it was just an ordinary day.

”Why did you suddenly think of giving me flowers?” he asked.

Lono greeted Koraidon, then crouched down, hugging Greavard as she explained:

”I noticed a flower shop on the street when I just went out, the flowers there were blooming beautifully, so I bought a bouquet on the spur of the moment!”

Upon hearing this, Naoki couldn’t help but lower his head to look at the bouquet in his hand.

Some guys might never receive a bouquet in their lifetime, and the only place where they might is at a funeral.

This was the first time he received such a gift.

Naoki was slightly moved, carrying the flowers into the house as he asked:

”Did the Lightning Steamed Bun I gave you last time work?”

During the previous New Year, Zapdos gifted him some feathers, and Naoki made many Lightning Steamed Buns. They couldn’t finish them, so he sent a few to Lono, letting her give them to Bellibolt and the others to eat.

”Yep, yep!” Lono nodded repeatedly, mentioning that incident, her face showed incredible expression: ”Your psychic powers are amazing!”

Naoki chuckled and said: ”I used special ingredients for that.”

”What do you plan to do today?” Lono asked.

Naoki originally intended to continue capturing Tablets of Ruin and Sword of Ruin, but since Lono came today, he postponed his plan to tomorrow.

After a short contemplation, Naoki thought of Kubfu, so he said:

”Yesterday I went to Fury Falls for some errands and captured a new Pokemon, I plan to build a Bamboo Forest for it on the ranch, and today I’m thinking of going to town to buy some bamboo shoots, do you want to come along?”

”Sure!” Lono nodded: ”Hehe, just right for me to experience what a rancher’s daily life is like!”

Naoki smiled warmly.

He placed the bouquet safely, then told his sister Indeedee and the others, started his pickup truck, and headed to Porto Marinada Town with a few Pokemon joining the fun and Lono.
