Not Being a Trainer This Time

Naoki went to the glass greenhouse to find Calyrex, asking it to use telekinesis to crush this feather into powder form.

Soon, he returned home with a jar of Zapdos’s feather powder.

Naoki took some of it to make Lightning Steamed Buns, reserving the rest for future use.

Mix the dough, ferment, knead the dough, add the feather powder, then shape into buns, and finally, place them in the pot to steam.

With that, five Lightning Steamed Buns were completed.

This whole process took quite some time, and by the time the buns were done steaming, the Pokémon sleeping in the room had awakened.

When Naoki placed these five yellow, round buns in front of them, both Zapdos and Mew were incredibly shocked.

Because they could feel a powerful energy emanating from these buns!

Zapdos was full of astonishment and shock.

This was food made from its feathers?

[Lightning Steamed Bun (S+): Legendary Cuisine, made from the feather powder of legendary Pokémon, said to bestow control over lightning upon consumption.

Cooking Effect: Thunder God, upon consumption allows the Pokémon to gain the Power of Thunder and Lightning, enabling control over thunder and lightning at will like the feather’s owner, capable of summoning massive lightning with a flick of a finger, exclusive to Electric Type Pokémon, and only once per Pokémon.

Evaluation: A unique delicacy in the world, feed it to your Electric Type Pokémon! Warning, do not consume indoors!]

Naoki looked at the information on the buns with a smile, then turned to look at Zapdos, and asked:

”How is it? Want to try one? Eating it will make you more powerful!”

His tone was full of temptation.

Instantly, Zapdos showed a hesitant expression.

It wanted to get stronger, but the thought of the dish being made from its own feathers made it feel a bit queasy.

”Can we get stronger too if we eat it?” Teddiursa beside him couldn’t help but ask.

Naoki shook his head: ”No, this dish only works for Electric Type Pokémon like Zapdos, but if you want, you can try the taste.”

Upon hearing this, Teddiursa shook his head: ”Nah! There are only a few buns, better to leave them for the Electric Pokémon who need them!”

Mew and Jirachi shared this sentiment.

Naoki was very gratified towards these understanding Pokémon.

He patted their heads, then looked at Zapdos.

”Want to give it a try?”

Zapdos: ”...”

This proud Bird-type Pokémon eventually could not resist the temptation.

No matter what, it wanted to try!

”Great, then let’s head outside!”

Right now, it’s still snowing outside, everyone is staying indoors, and with the farm being remote, Naoki wasn’t worried about the commotion being noticed by others.

The group went outside, where Zapdos stood in the snow and ate the Lightning Steamed Bun.

At first, there was no reaction on its body.

But once Zapdos finished the entire bun, a clap of thunder suddenly boomed in the sky.

The previously gray sky was suddenly filled with a cloud, and then, a massive bolt of lightning fell straight from the cloud, landing on Zapdos.

A strong airflow surged from Zapdos’s body in all directions, and Zapdos, in the midst of it, was filled with excitement.

Because it could clearly feel the power of thunder and lightning inside its body undergoing a transformation!

Its power became stronger!

”Chirp!”

Suddenly, Zapdos raised its head and let out a sharp cry.

A dense electric energy was released from its body towards the sky.

As the electric energy entered the thundercloud, in the next second, the gathered thundercloud was shattered by Zapdos.

The change stopped, and everything around returned to silence.

The world was white once more.

Zapdos’s aura became even stronger.

”Congratulations, Zapdos.” Naoki said.

Looking at Zapdos, it seemed to have gained a significant boost.

In this world, there are many Zapdos, and the most powerful among them is the one on Shamouti Island, known as the Thunder God.

All the other Zapdos are just regular Zapdos.

”I wonder how this Zapdos now compares to that Thunder God...” Naoki murmured to himself.

Zapdos, on the other hand, was full of excitement.

When the group returned to the living room, they saw Zapdos staring sharply at the four remaining buns on the plate.

Naoki: ”...”

Who was it that found eating its own feathers gross just now?

Zapdos seemed to have forgotten what it had just said.

Naoki could only explain: ”Each Pokémon can only eat once, the second time won’t be effective.”

Upon hearing this, Zapdos immediately showed a look of regret.

At that moment, it even considered giving Naoki more feathers to make more buns.

”Chirp...” What a pity...

But soon, a new thought emerged in Zapdos’s mind.

If its feathers could be made into a dish, then what about the other two birds?

Moltres and Articuno.

Thinking of this, Zapdos asked out loud.

”Chirp?” (Do Moltres and Articuno’s feathers have effects?)

Naoki was slightly stunned, quickly understanding Zapdos’s meaning.

”If I’m not mistaken, they probably do. Moltres’s feathers can be made into Flame Steamed Buns, and Articuno’s feathers can be made into Frozen Steamed Buns.” he explained.
