Not Being a Trainer This Time

Farfetch’d held its leek high, looking around the bamboo forest and the massive waterfall with high spirits.

”Farfetch’d, how about testing the fruits of your training over the past year here?” Naoki asked, ”Use your leek to cut through this waterfall!”

”Quack!”

Upon hearing this, Farfetch’d carried its leek and walked beneath the waterfall.

Naoki’s words piqued its interest. It also wanted to test the level of its sword technique.

”Then let’s give it a try!” Naoki encouraged.

”Quack!”

Farfetch’d walked beneath the waterfall.

It focused its mind and held its breath, carefully feeling the flow of the waterfall before it.

In the next moment, it gripped its leek tightly.

A flash of white light streaked by as the hefty leek slashed across the cascading waterfall.

The water flowing down from above hesitated slightly but soon resumed its flow.

”Hmm, although the power of this move looks quite impressive, it’s clearly still a long way from slicing through the waterfall,” Naoki thought to himself.

After a brief contemplation, he remembered that Farfetch’d had learned Psyblade after eating the Berry Platter.

That’s a move where telekinesis wraps around the blade to launch a swift attack with powerful spiritual power.

Perhaps with the help of psychic power, it might be able to cut through the waterfall...

Naoki said, ”Farfetch’d, use that move, Psyblade, and use your spiritual power to split the waterfall in front of you!”

”Quack!”

Farfetch’d also remembered that move.

A blue glow immediately appeared in its eyes.

An invisible psychic power enveloped its leek.

Farfetch’d focused its mind, then swung its leek powerfully.

A strong psychic power spread out instantly, blocking the falling water above, successfully splitting the waterfall in two.

The waterfall was cut, it worked!

Farfetch’d stared in disbelief, widening its eyes: ”Quack?!”

”Whoosh!”

The energy of Psyblade gradually dissipated, and the waterfall returned to its original state.

”Congratulations, it seems you’ve done it,” Naoki nodded with satisfaction.

This was Farfetch’d’s original dream when it came to the pasture, and now, it seemed Naoki had helped it achieve it!

”Quack!”

Farfetch’d let out a joyful cry.

The surrounding Pokemon, seeing its success, felt a twinge of envy.

Farfetch’d’s display sparked a training craze; Cyclizar and Pawmo, among others, told Naoki they wanted to give it a try too!

”Hmm? You guys also want to cut through the waterfall?” Naoki was taken aback and asked.

Both Pokemon nodded vigorously.

”Pamo!”

”Quack Ow!”

”But you’re skilled in different areas compared to Farfetch’d?” Naoki couldn’t help but remind them.

Pawmo excels at using its speed and powerful electrical current to attack foes.

While Cyclizar’s all-out speed is even faster than Pawmo’s...

But seeing the eager looks on the two Pokemon’s faces, Naoki couldn’t say much, and could only let them try it at the waterfall’s base.

In the end, Pawmo and Cyclizar tried for a long time but couldn’t cut through the waterfall like Farfetch’d.

Naoki: ”...”

Seeing the two Pokemon look dejected, Naoki couldn’t help but say:

”Don’t be disheartened, each Pokemon has its areas of expertise! And I have good news for you, even if you can’t cut through the waterfall, you can still use it for practice!”

”Quack Ow?” Upon hearing this, Cyclizar quickly looked over.

Naoki nodded: ”That’s the Waterfall Training Method. In the human world, some martial artists and fighting masters train their bodies with Pokemon by using waterfalls.”

”They sit beneath the waterfall and let the cascading water wash over them continuously as a form of training.”

”If combined with proper training methods, this can make the body stronger and also hone the spirit and Guts, it’s a very effective special training method.”

”Want to give it a try?” Naoki asked with a smile.

”Quack Ow!”

Three minutes later, Cyclizar, Pawmo, Dragonite, Ogerpon, and Flutter Mane all lined up on a big rock beneath the waterfall, closed their eyes, and started feeling the impact of the waterfall with focus.

Koraidon didn’t go, because it had no effect on it anymore.

Ting-Lu stood aside, chuckling at the scene, and said: ”Moo-moo!” (Ho-ho-ho! Such a bunch of hardworking little ones!)

However, just as it finished speaking, Naoki saw Ogerpon start using its hands to prop up its coat, shielding itself from the water flow and lazily slacking off.

Naoki: ”...”

Upon realizing it was caught, Ogerpon didn’t panic. It quickly stood up and ran out, happily hopping twice on the spot: ”Bo-ni～”

”Alright, alright, if you don’t want to train, just go over there and eat some Poffins!”

Naoki didn’t have many demands for the Pokemon; if they wanted to become stronger, he would help them with special training.

If they just wanted to live happily, then he would make delicious Poffins and Pokeblocks for them, allowing them to replenish their energy after playing.

”Bo-ni～”

Ogerpon happily ran around Naoki and Koraidon.

And just at this moment, a Swablu chirped and flew over, landing on Naoki’s shoulder, and said to him: ”Chirp-chirp!”

”Huh? You found a glowing stake too?” Naoki quickly asked.

Swablu gently nodded its little head.

”Take me to see it!” Naoki called over a few Pokemon who were training under the waterfall.

”Chirp-chirp!”

Swablu flapped its wings and started leading the way ahead.

And after they left, an off-white figure suddenly jumped down from the top of the cliff.

Shortly after, Naoki indeed found a glowing stake in a patch of grass.

He stepped forward and pulled out the stake.

Now, the eight stakes sealing Chi-Yu were down to just six left!

What they needed to do next was return to Fury Falls and continue waiting.

However, when Naoki arrived at Fury Falls, he caught a small shadow under the waterfall with the corner of his eye.

It was a small off-white Bear-type Pokemon.

At this moment, the Pokemon was sitting under Fury Falls, maintaining a cross-legged meditation posture, seemingly using this method to train.

”Gaghisshh!” Koraidon also noticed the Pokemon’s action.

Naoki: !!!

He immediately widened his eyes incredulously.

Wasn’t this Bear-type Pokemon the first stage of the Galar Region’s Legendary Pokemon, Kubfu?!

No, not right! How could there be a Kubfu residing near Fury Falls?

Naoki looked at the Kubfu in disbelief.

Was it a wild Kubfu? Or did Trainers bring it here for training?

And just then, Kubfu sitting under the waterfall suddenly opened its eyes and looked towards the human not far away, seeming to sense something.

It’s been discovered!

Naoki saw that the Kubfu seemed startled by their arrival.

But Kubfu didn’t run away; it continued sitting under the waterfall, training.

After a brief shock, Naoki grew interested in this Legendary Pokemon from the Galar Region.

He was worried Kubfu would be scared and flee, so he didn’t approach immediately, instead maintaining a respectful distance to observe.

Kubfu also opened its eyes and looked at the human over there.

Since their entrance into the Bamboo Forest, Kubfu had already noticed them.

Having originally lived here, Kubfu began secretly observing this human’s actions.

Initially, nothing seemed amiss; Kubfu didn’t find this human different from previous people visiting Fury Falls.

But later, it heard the human explaining training methods and directing his Pokemon to train their bodies under the waterfall.

Kubfu was very interested in this training method.

So, when it saw the human leave, it couldn’t wait to go under the waterfall to try it.

And unexpectedly, it found this special training method very effective for it!

Using its organs capable of generating ”Fighting Energy” and the unique breathing technique it had previously mastered, Kubfu carefully sensed the invisible force of the water impact, causing an extraordinary and mystical sensation within its body...

At this moment, its gaze met the human’s mid-air.

Kubfu felt a bit flustered.

But the human merely stood there watching it.

Naoki looked at the Kubfu whose fur was wetted by the rushing water, opened his mouth, and asked:

”Are you training too?”
