Not Being a Trainer This Time

After Steven left, life at the ranch returned to its usual peaceful state.

With the number of Dragonite couriers increasing and the eradication of Team Magma and Team Aqua that plagued the Hoenn Region, Naoki finally launched Dragonite Delivery’s cross-regional service.

The distance between the Hoenn Region and the Paldea Region is not too far; a full-speed flight by Dragonite takes only three hours for a round trip.

Such a journey is not a big deal for Dragonite at all.

Initially, Naoki was worried that Dragonites would get tired flying such long distances.

But soon, he discovered that his Dragonite employees relished the task.

One Dragonite told Naoki that back on Dragonite Island, they wouldn’t stay on the island all day because it was too dull.

After evolving into Dragonite, most of them would fly over the ocean for a long time every day.

Fishing, exploring unknown sea areas, training amidst storms, sometimes even rescuing ships in distress and humans lost at sea.

Some Dragonites would even fly around the planet to explore just how vast the world truly is.

During their travels, they would stop on other lands to rest or do other things.

These Dragonites would occasionally encounter humans and be captured by Human Trainers.

After meeting a trainer they liked, some never returned to Dragonite Island, instead choosing to travel and live with their Human Trainer.

Hearing the Dragonites’ explanation, Naoki felt relieved.

The Dragonites happily went out to deliver every day, while he stayed at the ranch to care for Pokémon, manage the ranch, plant crops, package orders for customers, and finally entrust them to Dragonite for delivery.

During this time, some companies contacted Naoki specifically.

They wanted to partner with Naoki to establish a specialized Dragonite Delivery Company, taking over the entire Paldea’s delivery business and turning each Dragonite into a more professional courier.

But Naoki rejected this suggestion.

Because if it were done that way, Dragonites would become real ”working Dragonites,” always having endless work every day.

Instead of the current routine of starting work at six in the morning, finishing by five in the afternoon, handling the orders they wish to, and passing on the others to different Dragonites.

Even though it sounds tiring, in reality, each Dragonite only runs five or six errands a day.

This is because Naoki Ranch’s small shop limits its daily product quantity, unlike other shops, it closes right at five in the afternoon.

If there was too much cargo, the Dragonites wouldn’t keep up, possibly needing to work overtime for evening deliveries.

Moreover, Naoki doesn’t lack money now, so there’s no need to exploit the Dragonites like that.

Just seeing them fly happily every day, or lazing around on the ranch’s grass during their downtime, dozing with their chubby, round bellies exposed, makes Naoki content.

After Naoki’s refusal, those companies gave up their original plans and instead started training Pelippers and Pidgeottos as professional couriers.

In the calm and warm life, time marched on alongside the growth of Pokémon, reaching the 7th of June in the League Year 200.

This day was destined to be extraordinary for Naoki and the Pokémon at the ranch.

Because on this ordinary day, Calyrex would perform the final maturation of the World Tree.

Recalling the last commotion caused by the World Tree, Naoki felt that this time it would be quite a grand event.

Therefore, he deliberately scheduled it for midnight.

Paldea Region, Porto Marinada Town, 11:54 pm.

In the distant town, everything was dark; at this hour, the local residents were already in deep sleep, resting peacefully in their beds.

Yet, at Naoki Ranch, it was a scene of bright lights.

Koraidon, Cyclizar, Gogoat, Butterfree, Alcremie, Garganacl, Miltank, Dragonite, Calyrex, Ogerpon, Gholdengo...

A gathering of Pokémon had assembled, ready to witness the birth of the World Tree.

In the Reversed World, Mewtwo and Giratina had made their preparations.

The time spent together had given Mewtwo a new understanding of this Pokémon who enjoyed surfing the internet among humans.

At this moment, it understood well that it needed to cooperate with Giratina to elevate the tree to the sky.

Once Naoki and the Pokémon had gathered, Mewtwo turned to Giratina and said, ”Let’s begin.”

As long as Giratina can bring the World Tree into a special [Anti-gravity Floating] state, Mewtwo can use its Psychic power to elevate the entire tree into the sky.

Giratina hovered around the World Tree, a hint of excitement evident in its blood-red eyes.

”Understood!”

Accompanied by a deep roar, Giratina suddenly emitted a pitch-black light.

The light gradually enveloped both the World Tree and the massive Floating Island where it was located.

Moments later, the light completely merged into the World Tree.

Giratina returned to Mewtwo’s side, saying, ”It’s your turn!”

Mewtwo remained silent.

It calmly gazed at the giant World Tree before it, then raised its right hand, blue light emanating from its eyes.

Overwhelming Psychic power erupted from Mewtwo, quickly enveloping the entire World Tree and the Floating Island below in its grasp.
