Not Being a Trainer This Time

The next afternoon, Naoki’s online order of a 3ds arrived.

After signing for it, he started teaming up with the Indeedee siblings to play a game.

”Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team,” this native Pokemon World game is also part of the rescue team series, but it is different from the rescue team Naoki is familiar with.

Here, a large map divides into several smaller dungeons, and players control a group of Pokemon to explore the dungeons.

The dungeons are filled with many dangers, including hostile Pokemon, dangerous traps, and terrain.

But danger and opportunity coexist, correspondingly, Pokemon can acquire various treasures and items while exploring.

Such as various Evolution Stones, held items that enhance Pokemon’s abilities, Berries with various effects, and Rare Candies that increase Pokemon’s level, etc.

Players can control Pokemon to use moves to fight enemies, and upon defeating enemies, they gain experience which can be used to level up.

When their level is sufficient, Pokemon can evolve into more powerful forms.

Naoki glanced over and found that there are ten Pokemon available for initial character selection.

Including Charmander, Eevee, Totodile, Squirtle, Chikorita, Meowth, and others.

The older Indeedee sibling said that after defeating the boss, new Pokemon character options can be unlocked.

The younger Indeedee sibling chose Eevee, the older one chose Charmander, and after understanding the gameplay, Naoki chose an Oddish.

Once the characters were confirmed, each person with their two Pokemon officially entered the dungeon to start their adventure.

Initially, the upper levels of the dungeon weren’t too dangerous, with only some low-level Pokemon and basic items scattered on the grass.

The younger Indeedee sibling, who loves collecting things, picked up some Berries for stamina recovery.

Meanwhile, Naoki and the older Indeedee sibling cleared the hostile Pokemon in the dungeon smoothly, leveling up to lv8.

Then, the three climbed up the stairs to the second level, where the Pokemon had stronger capabilities than those on the previous level.

However, with the cooperation of Oddish’s move [Acid] and Charmander’s [Ember], they thrillingly cleared away the wild Pokemon in this level.

Subsequently, Charmander leveled up to lv16 and evolved into Charmeleon.

The younger Indeedee sibling’s Eevee also evolved into Flareon using the Fire Stone.

In the third layer of the dungeon, some strong wild Pokemon started to appear.

The most troublesome of them was a Gyarados.

Charmeleon and Flareon of the Indeedee siblings were fully countered by Gyarados, taking heavy damage from two Hydro Pumps.

Frightened, the younger Indeedee sibling let out a panicked Growl, fumbling to grab an Oran Berry from the backpack to restore stamina.

Meanwhile, the older Indeedee sibling calmly managed Charmeleon to retreat, frowning as if wishing he could magically enter the game to face the Gyarados himself.

Luckily, at the critical moment, Naoki’s Oddish defeated some of the Magikarp followers around Gyarados and accumulated enough experience to evolve into Gloom.

Combining the use of [Poison Powder], [Sleep Powder], [Stun Spore], and [Giga Drain] moves, they successfully defeated Gyarados.

The fallen Gyarados dropped a pile of Rare Candies and held items.

”Indeed!”

Seeing this, the younger Indeedee sibling immediately looked at Naoki with an expression full of admiration.

The older Indeedee sibling also thought Naoki was amazing.

”Piece of cake, piece of cake,” Naoki grinned and said, ”After all, I’m a Trainer, I know how to counter Gyarados, c’mon, brother, eat all these Rare Candies.”

However, the older Indeedee sibling felt that Naoki, who was even more impressive, needed those Rare Candies more.

”No, Gloom doesn’t need level-up to evolve now, we just need to find a Leaf Stone and a Sun Stone to evolve into a stronger Pokemon,” Naoki shook his head and explained, ”Compared to Gloom, Charmeleon will see a great boost in strength after evolving into Charizard, we’ll rely on you in the next layer.”

The older Indeedee sibling understood.

He took those Rare Candies and fed them to Charmeleon.

In a flash of light, Charmeleon evolved into the majestic and handsome Charizard.

Continuing on, the younger Indeedee sibling’s Flareon found a Leaf Stone in a tree hollow.

Naoki’s Gloom used it to evolve into Vileplume, and learned the moves Toxic, Moonlight, Moonblast, and Substitute.

Using Naoki’s known Substitution Poison Pervert Strategy in addition to the Indeedee siblings’ assistance, they thrillingly reached the dungeon’s deepest level.

Next, they just need to defeat the boss Tyranitar to clear the level.

Naoki originally thought this would be easy, but didn’t expect that Tyranitar could use Alliances!

The battle started, and it immediately used [Screech], greatly reducing the defense of Vileplume, Charizard, and Flareon.

Naoki sensed trouble and retreated with Vileplume, while alerting the Indeedee siblings.

But before he could speak, the on-screen Gyarados used Earthquake.

The ground began to shake violently, causing the younger Indeedee sibling’s Flareon to immediately lose stamina to zero, losing its combat ability.

Fortunately, at a crucial moment, Naoki managed Vileplume to use Substitute, successfully resisting the attack.

After the move ended, he immediately started using Moonlight to restore health.
