And the opponent they faced was none other than a Calyrex beyond its prime...

Pikachu: I’m gonna fight Calyrex?

How could I possibly win?

But thinking it’s Ash, Naoki found it quite normal.

After all, Ash had just set out on his journey and, after completing the Rainbow Hero’s trial, challenged Ho-oh.

Eager to battle, Ash ate his lunch very quickly.

Seeing this, May was at a loss for words: ”This guy Ash is really something...”

Brock, who had traveled with Ash for years, crossed his arms and nodded with a smile: ”That’s Ash’s style!”

After lunch, the group went to the battle field in the pasture.

Calyrex floated to the battle site, while Naoki stood with May and the others.

”Huh? Aren’t you going to command, Mr. Naoki?” May asked.

Naoki shook his head: ”Calyrex knows what to do.”

On the field, as expected, Ash sent out Pikachu to fight.

”It’s decided, go! Pikachu!” Ash pointed forward.

Pikachu, standing on his shoulder, jumped down immediately and charged towards Calyrex.

”Pika Pika!”

The battle officially began.

Even though Calyrex didn’t move, Pikachu still felt a tangible psychic power from it.

This made Pikachu’s expression turn serious.

But it didn’t retreat; instead, it courageously faced forward.

”Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!”

”Pika—chee!”

With the command given, powerful electricity burst from Pikachu’s body.

The intense electric light transformed into countless streaks of lightning rushing toward Calyrex.

Seeing this, Calyrex didn’t dodge. Its thoughts flickered, and a transparent Light Screen appeared before it, completely blocking Pikachu’s Thunderbolt.

”Pika Pika?!” Pikachu was shocked.

And then Calyrex launched its attack.

Its psychic power materialized and fiercely struck Pikachu.

The move was so swift that Pikachu couldn’t react and was blasted away.

”Pikachu!” Ash shouted hastily: ”Hang in there!”

Upon hearing this, Pikachu persisted.

Injured but determined, it looked at Calyrex on the opposite side.

Seeing this, Ash’s mind raced, and he swiftly changed strategy: ”Pikachu, use Quick Attack!”

”Pika Pika!”

With the command issued, Pikachu began to run swiftly, eventually turning into a blur of white light rushing at Calyrex.

However, facing this, Calyrex simply raised its hand lightly, instantly conjuring a ball of psychic energy and sending it flying at Pikachu.

The next moment, Pikachu collided with this Psychic attack.

With a violent explosion, Ash’s Pikachu was once again knocked away, collapsing on the ground, unable to continue the battle.

Thus, the battle ended.

”As expected of a Legendary Pokemon!” Brock couldn’t help but marvel at the sight.

May and Max were also astonished by Calyrex’s immense power.

From the sheer strength Calyrex displayed earlier, Ash’s Pikachu stood no chance.

However, Ash wasn’t discouraged by the loss; instead, he sincerely thanked Calyrex.

Calyrex nodded slightly and then used Heal Pulse on Pikachu before disappearing, heading over to the Glass Greenhouse to play on the phone.

”How do you feel?” Naoki stepped up and asked with a smile.

Ash nodded vigorously: ”Yeah, Calyrex is truly amazing!”

Saying this, he turned his head, looking at Naoki’s other Pokemon, speaking with spirited determination:

”Mr. Naoki, let’s continue battling! Treecko and Corphish can still battle!”

Naoki: ”...”

Alright then! He had promised Ash earlier that morning, and Ash couldn’t go back on his word now.

Thus, Naoki casually called upon a few Pokemon and battled with Ash in one match after another.

By the time they finished, it was already five in the afternoon.

Naoki went to tend to the pasture work and prepared today’s goods to sell to Zack.

Meanwhile, Ash took Pikachu and the others to help Vigoroth expend its energy.

The young ones are always full of energy; Ash seemed tireless, and Naoki felt like his stamina could rival Vigoroth’s.

Brock and Max began observing the Pokemon ecosystem in the pasture.

Witnessing so many Pokemon in the pasture, Max was extremely envious.

He wished he could grow up quickly, have his own Pokemon, and set out on a journey with them!

After seeing Zack off, Naoki returned to the pasture and saw Ash and Vigoroth lying on the grass, panting heavily.

Naoki noticed that Vigoroth seemed to have a fondness for the boy willing to go wild with it.

Seeing this, Naoki nodded silently, getting a general idea.

After dinner, Mew, Teddiursa, and Jirachi returned to the pasture.

Because today was the second day of the Millennial Comet.

Though the spectacle of the Millennial Comet streaking across the sky couldn’t be seen from Porto Marinada Town, the night sky at the pasture was equally filled with stars.

When it got dark, Naoki took Ash and the others to stargaze in the pasture.

Jirachi and Mew also sat quietly on the grass, joining everyone in gazing at the summer night sky.
