Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 381: Chapter 253: An Old Husband and a Young Wife, a Wife-Doting Maniac

6:00 PM.

Amber Restaurant, a two-Michelin-star French restaurant.

Gao Haitao’s former boss was a fan of French cuisine, and this place was certainly upscale enough, so dinner was set here.

On the way over, Lin Chu experienced what it was like to be in a presidential motorcade for the first time. With escort vehicles in front, behind, and on both sides, he rode in a bulletproof Cadillac. This was security taken to its absolute extreme.

This was, naturally, all arranged by Gao Haitao.

Things had been chaotic the past couple of days. While Lin Chu didn’t have PTSD, he was pretty close to developing it.

After all, everyone is equal in the face of a dump truck.

’So fucking many lunatics!’

Lin Chu sat in the back seat, holding a file in his hands.

It contained some general information on the person he was meeting tonight. It hadn’t been dug up through ”special channels,” but rather through public sources.

After all, the man was already a very successful entrepreneur.

Yuan Fang, 56 years old, a native of the Capital City, founder of Shield Guardian. It was a fully-licensed private security firm, though not a publicly traded company.

Its operations already spanned the entire country.

Its overseas presence was concentrated mainly in the Middle East and Africa.

He had left the military to go into business. Yuan Fang had only one son.

After studying abroad, his son had stayed in Australia, showing no intention of returning home.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, Lin Chu saw Yuan Fang.

He was a well-built man with a refined, scholarly air. He wasn’t very tall, maybe five-foot-seven, but he appeared to have taken excellent care of himself. His hair was jet-black—and even if it was dyed, it made him look like a successful man in his forties.

Beside him stood a young beauty who looked to be a head taller, with the figure of a supermodel. She wore a long white dress and had a radiant smile, her eyes seeming to sparkle with little stars when they met yours.

To be honest...

This image took Lin Chu slightly by surprise.

It was hard to believe this was a 56-year-old man.

Of course, he wasn’t the least bit surprised by the girl at his side. An old man with a young wife—what could be more normal?

”President Lin, a pleasure. I’m Yuan Fang. And this is my wife, Liu Jing.”

Yuan Fang wore a gentle, scholarly smile, and his voice was equally soft. He didn’t seem at all like the head of a security company; he was more like a university professor, the kind who studies culture.

As for how he referred to her as his ”wife,” Lin Chu felt a slight jolt. He was, frankly, a little surprised.

Shaking hands with them in turn, Lin Chu smiled graciously. ”President Yuan, it’s good to see you. Ma’am, a pleasure.”

”Xiaogao, thank you for making the introduction,” Yuan Fang said, turning to Gao Haitao with a smile. ”You’ll have to have a few drinks with us tonight. You’re the man of the hour.” Then, like a true gentleman, he pulled out a chair for his wife and helped her sit down.

Gao Haitao smiled shyly. ”President Yuan, you’re too kind. You two are the bosses, I’m just a foot soldier. Please, have a seat.”

They all took their seats.

”I came to this restaurant once a few years ago, and it left a deep impression,” Yuan Fang began. ”Haha, it’s a bit embarrassing, but there was a gold leaf, caviar, and sea urchin dish that I still remember vividly. My mouth waters just thinking about it... so today, I specifically brought my wife to try it.”

Yuan Fang then rinsed a cup for his lovely young wife and poured her some tea, the very picture of a doting husband.

After his initial two bouts of surprise, Lin Chu was gradually getting used to this display. ’It takes all kinds to make a world,’ he thought. A faint curiosity even sparked within him, wondering about the story behind this couple.

Hearing Yuan Fang, Liu Jing gave him a coquettish look, as if they were the only two in the room. ”You... you’re such a foodie. Mwah...”

Lin Chu was speechless.

’What the hell? This whole vibe is a little off, isn’t it?’

’Are they serving me a heap of PDA right off the bat?’

An older husband with a young wife was certainly something to show off, but this couple... a man in his fifties acting like a teenager in love... it was making it a little hard for Lin Chu to keep a straight face.

’Should I just have them dragged out and executed?’

”Brother Yuan, you and your wife seem to have a wonderful relationship,” Lin Chu remarked with a laugh. ”It’s so sweet.”

Yuan Fang smiled and nodded gently. ”Love is supposed to be sweet. If it isn’t, what’s the point? Don’t you agree? President Lin, are you married?”

”Haha, not yet. I haven’t accomplished what I want in my career, so I’m not thinking about my personal life for now.”

’This is supposed to be a business dinner, but now we’re talking about this...’ Lin Chu felt a bit awkward.

’But, objectively speaking, I’m in the weaker position for tonight’s deal... I’ll just have to tolerate it for now and play along.’

”Hahaha, that’s right. Xiaogao told me about you—twenty-four years old, still so young! But you can’t say you haven’t accomplished anything in your career; you’re already a great success at a young age. But then again, the old saying goes, first you build a home, then you build a career. Family should come before work... Ah? My apologies, I’m rambling. I’ve overstepped.”

Yuan Fang was so ”refined” he was starting to seem long-winded, but he quickly caught himself and offered an apology.

Lin Chu was speechless again.

”Not at all, not at all. Brother Yuan, you’re my elder by almost two dozen years. Please, say whatever you’d like. I’m happy to listen.”

Lin Chu was complaining internally, but his face wore a rather insincere smile.

Yuan Fang just smiled faintly. He didn’t press the matter, instead changing the subject and reminiscing about old times, starting with Gao Haitao.

The wine had finished breathing.

The first course was served.

Compared to Ensue, another two-Michelin-star establishment, Amber Restaurant’s server ratio was a cut above: one sommelier, one food runner, and four waiters for the table.

Of course, this was all included in the service charge.

The arrival of the food broke Yuan Fang’s conversational rhythm, and he began to focus on enjoying the delicacy before him.

As he ate, Lin Chu studied the man, lost in thought.

’To be honest,’ he thought, ’it’s quite... a contrast.’

The head of a ten-thousand-person Security Group, yet his demeanor was so gentle. If it weren’t for his status, Lin Chu might have even found him effeminate.
