Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 372: Chapter 251: Comrades-in-Arms Are More Reliable Than Spouses

A little later, Lin Chu saw Jackie Chan striding over, his steps hurried. He had changed into a full suit, and his expression was grim. He walked over to the band, stopped the music, and picked up the microphone.

”Everyone, my apologies, but something unexpected has come up. Tonight’s party is now over. I’m sorry, I’m truly sorry.”

His voice was filled with regret as he pressed his palms together and gave a slight bow.

This sudden development left the party, which had been filled with laughter and cheerful chatter, in a stunned silence. Everyone was taken aback.

”What’s wrong? What happened?”

Someone asked.

Jackie Chan frowned but still explained in a low, somber voice, ”Zhuang Yingcheng and Zhuang Fajing were each in a car accident on their way home. This must have been premeditated. I’m heading to the police station now.”

His words caused an uproar, and some people gasped aloud.

The Zhuang Family’s inheritance dispute had certainly reached a vicious point, but no one ever imagined that both brothers would get into car accidents on the same day.

As the host of the party, both men had just left from his house.

Moreover, it seemed he had recently tried to act as a mediator in the Zhuang Family’s affairs.

Given the situation, he had no choice but to get involved.

”Zhuang Meirui, you’re coming with me!”

Just then, Jackie Chan’s tone turned serious as he called out the Zhuang Family’s second son by name.

As a direct competitor for the inheritance, with both his older and younger brother now in accidents, he was, apart from their two uncles, a prime suspect.

At the same time, taking him along was also a form of protection.

If the culprit behind this wanted to wipe out all three brothers, the situation would be even worse.

A case of this severity... how many years had it been since Xiangjiang had seen something like this?

Inheritance disputes were common enough; they happened practically every year.

Overt, covert, fought in the courts, waged through business warfare... over the years, Jackie Chan had seen it all countless times.

Especially in recent years... with larger families and more illegitimate children, these things were bound to happen.

But direct violence had long since fallen out of fashion.

For something like this to happen now... it was truly... retro.

Hearing Jackie Chan call his name, Zhuang Meirui hurried over to him. He grabbed Jackie Chan’s arm and asked anxiously, ”Uncle, is it true? My older brother and third brother... were they really in car accidents?”

Jackie Chan gave him a calm look, nodded, and patted his shoulder comfortingly. Without another word, he excused himself once more and left the party with a few old friends and his bodyguards.

Seeing him leave, the guests, though disappointed, also began to make their own departures.

Lin Chu pursed his lips.

’So Zhuang Yingcheng also got hit by a dump truck?’

’I hadn’t heard about that. I only just found out from Jackie Chan. After all, I didn’t have anyone tailing Zhuang Yingcheng.’

Taking a deep breath, Lin Chu looked at Gao Haitao and shook his head.

Gao Haitao let out a long sigh, a thoughtful look in his eyes. He naturally had his own theories about the matter, but with so many people around, the walls had ears. There was no need to discuss it with Lin Chu just yet.

”Mr. Lin, my father and I are heading home now.”

Mo Xiaorou hurried over to say goodbye.

Lin Chu smiled. ”Alright. Bye, drive safe on your way home.”

”Mm, I know. It’ll be fine,” she said softly, glancing around. ”I’m not the heir to some great fortune. What’s a small fry like me got to worry about? Bye.”

She let out a faint sigh.

It was still quite unnerving.

But having practiced martial arts since childhood, she wasn’t easily scared.

After watching her leave, Lin Chu looked over at Gao Haitao. They said their goodbyes to a few new acquaintances and then started walking home.

”Damn, now I’m scared to even walk in the middle of the street.”

Lin Chu couldn’t help but grumble as they walked home. It wasn’t that he felt a sense of kinship with the victims, nor was it full-blown PTSD. Plenty of people died in car accidents every year, after all. But when it happened this close to home, it was hard not to feel a complex mix of emotions.

Besides, these weren’t ordinary car accidents.

They were part of a deadly grab for wealth.

Gao Haitao nodded, his expression grave. ”How are things going with President Peng and establishing the corporate headquarters?”

He abruptly changed the subject.

When Lin Chu heard this, he couldn’t help but chuckle. He knew exactly what Gao Haitao was getting at.

’Let’s get out of here first.’ 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

’Get away from this hornet’s nest, just in case.’

’He was just being extremely tactful about it.’

”Don’t worry about that for now. Focus on setting up the security company. The emphasis will be on overseas operations, starting from Xiangjiang and expanding into Southeast Asia, and then to other parts of the world. As for mainland China... that won’t be necessary.”

”Xiangjiang is our window to the world, and this security company will be the public face for the entire group.”

Lin Chu didn’t take the bait, instead speaking in a rather formal tone.

”Alright, I understand.”

Gao Haitao nodded. ”I’ll have someone keep digging for information,” he added. ”See how badly the two of them are hurt.”

”Go ahead.”

Lin Chu waved a hand dismissively. He hopped onto the curb and started walking along it like a balance beam, looking surprisingly carefree.

’This business with the Zhuang Family really has nothing to do with me.’

’After all, I have no personal stake in it.’

’I’m just a bystander.’

However, from his perspective as an observer, watching all of this unfold was proving to be quite enlightening for Lin Chu. It even stirred up his patriotic sentiments.
