Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 376: Chapter 252: You Really Are a Bad Person

It was late.

While Lin Chu slept soundly, many people in the city were destined for a sleepless night.

Kowloon, 105 Kai Tak Coordination Road.

In an office at the police headquarters, Jackie Chan was drinking coffee and chatting with the man across from him.

He had already explained his connection to the Zhuang Family in detail in his official statement.

Jackie Chan had insisted on giving the statement himself to prevent any misunderstandings and to ensure all information pertaining to him in this incident was clearly understood.

Given his status and standing, the authenticity of his statement was naturally beyond question.

Age was an asset.

Reputation was an asset.

And wealth was an asset.

A seventy-year-old man, highly respected, globally renowned, and successful in both politics and entertainment—his word alone was a guarantee.

After he had finished speaking about himself, the conversation naturally turned to the incident itself.

”What’s the story with the two drivers?”

Jackie Chan asked quietly. His eyes were bloodshot, and his face looked weary.

”The first was a truck driver from Malaysia who came here to work a year ago. He had AIDS, was a junkie, and was high at the time.”

”The second was a senior manager at a shipping company owned by the Zhuang Family. He was married with no children. According to the information we have, his wife had been Zhuang Yingcheng’s mistress for some time. Last night, he killed his wife before staging the car crash. We don’t yet know who provided him with the route information. He’s on the run and we haven’t caught him yet.”

The officer’s tone was calm, his brow slightly furrowed.

It was a frustrating situation.

Typically, a suspect on the run would have already left the city, or even altered their appearance.

Of course, there was another possibility: he was already at the bottom of the ocean, feeding the fish.

It was hard to say.

”’Gambling leads to theft, and adultery to murder.’ It seems the driver certainly had motive... All right, I think I understand. I’ll keep this confidential. Is there anything else you need from me?”

Jackie Chan murmured.

As someone who’d come up in a rougher era, he’d seen far too many things like this. Technology, the economy, and public safety had all improved, but human nature never changed. It was always the same.

This was undoubtedly a setup, but as for whose hand was pulling the strings, he couldn’t begin to guess.

After all, this was a matter for the police.

The officer shook his head. ”Thank you for your time. Go home and get some rest. Tomorrow morning, we may need to bother you again. We’d like you to ask Mr. Lin to come in so we can ask him a few questions.”

”According to Zhuang Yingcheng’s other driver, Lin Chu got into a fight with Zhuang Yingcheng two days ago in the underground garage of a karaoke bar. The bodyguards got involved, and Lin Chu put a knife to Zhuang Yingcheng’s neck. But... afterward, the two went drinking at the karaoke bar, and Zhuang Yingcheng went home that night. We don’t know the specifics of their dispute.”

”Then, at the party, he slapped Zhuang Fajing.”

At this point, the officer looked both exasperated and amused. ”What kind of guy is this? A walking jinx? Does everyone who gets into an argument with him end up getting hit by a truck?”

Jackie Chan: ...

He was rendered speechless and could only let out a dry laugh.

He was completely unaware of the conflict between Lin Chu and Zhuang Yingcheng.

”The drivers definitely have nothing to do with him.”

”He’s just an outsider. He’s only been in Xiangjiang for a few days to buy a house. He met Zhuang Yingcheng once at my home for tea. If I’m not mistaken, Zhuang Yingcheng must have found some way to contact him, probably hoping to bring in some outside help.”

Jackie Chan considered this for a moment before speaking in a serious tone.

”I know.”

”We’ve been through Zhuang Yingcheng’s message history. He was indeed the one who reached out first.”

”It’s just a formality.”

The officer explained with a smile.

”All right, then that’s it. What time tomorrow?”

Jackie Chan stood up, preparing to take his leave.

The officer said, ”Let’s do lunch. It’s more relaxed, and it’ll save me from eating another boxed lunch.”

”Alright...”

Jackie Chan smiled, waved, and walked out.

...

The next morning, Lin Chu woke up to a message from Jackie Chan. He was invited to lunch. The message also mentioned that the police would be stopping by to ask some questions about his conflict with Zhuang Yingcheng from a couple of days ago, but that it was nothing to worry about—just a routine inquiry.

The message snapped Lin Chu out of his morning grogginess. He was instantly wide awake.

’They work fast.’

’He had a feeling this wasn’t a trap. If it were, the meeting place definitely wouldn’t be Jackie Chan’s home.’

’In any case, he had nothing to hide.’

’So, a meal it is.’

’The rules of this society were simple: don’t cross the hard lines. Things like murder, arson, and anything else in the criminal code were absolute no-gos. Everything else was just a flexible game of negotiation between people. And with his current net worth, there was no way he could be framed.’

He got out of bed and washed up.

In the living room, Gao Haitao was already awake, lying fully clothed on the sofa. He was looking at his phone, his fingers flying across the screen.

The moment he heard the bedroom door open, he sat up immediately.

”Brother Chu, there’s some news.”

”My old boss asked if you have time today. He wants to come to Xiangjiang to talk with you.”

”I gave him a rough idea of what happened last night. I told him the pressure was on and that we needed more people. He teased me a little, said I was riding high—not just jumping ship myself, but also trying to poach from my old company. But then he said he was open to talking.”

Gao Haitao had taken the initiative on this, but he had a good read on Lin Chu’s intentions. Developing the security company was a key priority, and Lin Chu himself had planned to meet with Gao Haitao’s old boss for a meal. They just hadn’t found the time yet.
