Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1399: Chapter 1384: Heitan Takes the Stage

Although Professor Xie speculated this way, he was only reasoning based on logic. When it came to pressing the mechanism, he was still a bit worried. He ordered the other experts to step back, and he himself found two wooden sticks, holding one in each hand, and pushed against the two tiles.

With a cracking sound, the two tiles were pushed into the wall by the wooden sticks and quickly pushed all the way in by Professor Xie, no longer able to go further.

Everyone stood several meters away from the tiles, and only Professor Xie kept a close watch on the surroundings, ready to run at any unusual movement.

No one dared to speak, each holding their breath, waiting for the tense moment that followed.

After the tiles were pressed, they waited for more than ten seconds. Suddenly, a strange sound came from overhead. Huo Sining was stunned and subconsciously looked towards the top. With the Heavenly Eye, she saw that there was actually a square mechanism above!

Huo Sining didn’t know what was inside the mechanism and had no time to look closely or think deeply. But seeing this thing, her face changed instantly, realizing something was wrong. Almost instinctively, she shouted, “Professor, be careful!”

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s warning, Professor Xie didn’t think much and quickly dropped the wooden stick to retreat. Just as he started to run, seven or eight objects flew out from above, landing directly where he had been standing.

Everyone was startled to see the seven or eight rusty triangular iron pieces stuck on the ground.

These triangular iron pieces looked very similar to the hidden weapons seen on TV from the Tang Sect, and no one knew if they were poisoned. Fortunately, Professor Xie was prepared and hadn’t planned to stand next to the tiles when pushing them, otherwise, he would have been riddled with holes by these things.

Professor Xie was also still fearful, looking at those iron pieces with a pale face, breathing heavily and only calming his emotion after a short pause.

After shooting down these seven or eight triangular hidden weapons, the mechanism became still.

Everyone felt disappointed, thinking that Professor Xie’s reasoning was wrong. It seemed that the tiles only triggered the hidden weapon mechanism and weren’t the key to opening the stone gate.

Everyone was deflated, and Professor Xie’s face didn’t look good either. He looked at the tiles and then at the stone gate, sighing:

“Xiao Ji, find a bag to pack these iron pieces and take them back for testing to see if they’re poisoned. Be careful with everything inside; try not to touch anything unnecessarily—”

“Crack—crack—”

Professor Xie wanted to study the stone gate further, but unexpectedly at this moment, a noise came from the stone gate, and everyone was stunned, looking towards where the sound came.

Professor Xie’s expression also froze, showing surprise and unexpectedness in his eyes.

The cracking sound continued, the gear mechanism turning. After several minutes, stone dust fell from the stone gate, and it finally opened slowly.

Huo Sining noticed that as the stone gate opened little by little, the two tiles on both sides of the passage also slowly bounced back, returning to their original position.

A few minutes later, the stone gate fully opened, and the group of experts were eager to rush in. After the previous incident with the hidden weapons, Professor Xie became more cautious and seeing everyone rushing in, immediately scolded:

“Don’t go in yet! No one has entered this tomb before, there might be other mechanisms inside!”

Simply within this drainage passage, there were hidden weapons installed. If entering the main burial chamber, who knows what dangers might lie within. Professor Xie was here to conduct an archaeological expedition and would not take any reckless actions without understanding the situation inside. If anyone died in the tomb due to negligence, he couldn’t bear the responsibility.

After hearing Professor Xie’s words, the other experts suppressed their urgency, each one looking solemnly at the opened stone gate.

After careful consideration, Professor Xie decided it was prudent to withdraw everyone, use fans to blow towards the passage, and completely remove any harmful gases inside. Additionally, he found the local village chief to buy a local dog, intending to let the dog go first to see if there were any hidden arrows, traps, or poison gas.

However, the dog was brought over, but it didn’t obey commands. After entering the tomb path, it started digging around randomly. Seeing this, Professor Xie felt it wouldn’t work; every artifact in the main burial chamber was extremely precious and couldn’t be allowed to be damaged by the dog.

Professor Xie frowned and had the village chief take the dog back.

Seeing this, Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh: “Professor, why not let Heitan try?”

Other dogs didn’t obey, but Heitan, the Tibetan Mastiff, was smarter and more agile than other dogs. Entrusting this task to Heitan would certainly complete the mission, and there was no worry about it damaging the artifacts inside.

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s suggestion, Professor Xie was momentarily stunned, then smiled.

He had seen Huo Sining’s Tibetan Mastiff named Heitan, whose performance at the Spring Festival Gala made it an overnight animal superstar, a sensation on the internet, with popularity surpassing Huo Sining.

Everyone had witnessed Heitan’s capabilities, knowing it was a very intelligent dog. If Heitan went in, there would be no worry about it causing trouble or damage.

Moreover, Heitan now weighed as much as an adult man. If there were mechanisms in the tomb, a local dog might not trigger them due to insufficient weight, but Heitan would certainly do so.

Professor Xie found the plan feasible, but he also knew the value of Huo Sining’s Tibetan Mastiff. Upon hearing her suggestion, he hesitated: “It’s very dangerous inside. Are you sure it’s okay to let Heitan go in?”

Huo Sining shook her head, laughing: “Don’t worry, Heitan is very capable. It’s the Tibetan Mastiff King; this is no challenge for it!”

Huo Sining was confident in Heitan and immediately called Su Jinyuan, asking him to help bring Heitan over from the villa.

Two hours later, Su Jinyuan brought Heitan over, along with Qibao, the tag-along.

As soon as Heitan saw Huo Sining, it eagerly rushed over, wrapping its legs around her thighs, drooling. Huo Sining didn’t delay and directly led Heitan into the tomb.

Upon entering the underground tomb, Huo Sining didn’t follow Professor Xie’s instructions to tether Heitan’s neck with a rope. Instead, she gave Heitan a command and then let it run freely inside the tomb, circling around wildly.
