Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1396: Chapter 1381: Entering the Ancient Tomb

After refusing the request of the He sisters, Huo Sining originally thought that the matter had passed. However, what she didn’t expect was that she still couldn’t escape this international competition in the end.

The excavation of the underwater ancient tomb continued, and within a short week, the outline of the underground tomb began to emerge.

This was a massive underwater burial complex. Fortunately, being hidden underwater, it had remained unvisited by tomb robbers until now.

This was evident from the intact preservation of the ancient tomb. If tomb robbers had entered, they would have left tunnels nearby, but clearly, there were no traces of such tunnels.

Apparently, due to the deep water levels of this reservoir, even if the tomb robbers discovered the underground tomb, they were helpless. Not everyone possessed the ability to maneuver effortlessly underwater like Huo Sining. Tomb robbers couldn’t possibly drain the water to commit their crimes, thus, the tomb had successfully escaped a disaster.

With dozens of machines working in unison and the reservoir water being drained, the entire water body had been thoroughly cleared, and the silt excavated. Now, in the nearly 300 square kilometers area, it appeared empty. At the center of the reservoir, rows of tombstones and stone statues were unveiled.

Because Huo Sining had been involved in the excavation of the Xianyang Yunling Ancient Tomb, and her Kanyu capabilities, akin to Dragon Vein Seeking, earned Professor Xie’s trust, so when it came to the outdoor excavation on the archaeological site, Professor Xie immediately sent Huo Sining down, instructing her to quickly find the true entrance of the ancient tomb.

As it turned out, after the river’s silt was cleared, Professor Xie discovered a problem right away. The tombstones and stone statue forest in plain sight were merely for show. The actual ancient tomb was hidden beneath them. But the exact location of its true entrance remained unknown.

It was in such a scenario that Assistant Huo Sining finally proved her value.

Ji Kun and several other experts from the Imperial Capital were present. They had all heard about how Huo Sining had mapped the Yunling Ancient Tomb’s structural diagram solely with her hands in Xianyang. These experts were filled with curiosity and admiration for this seemingly unassuming expert, thus, there was no opposition to Professor Xie’s decision.

Several students accompanying the experts, upon seeing Huo Sining, displayed looks of admiration one by one.

It wasn’t because they were well-versed in Huo Sining’s deeds at Yunling but because Huo Sining had shone brightly at the international treasure appraisal conference in New York earlier. They all had watched the live broadcast at that time.

These students were young and, seeing a female peer close to their age, actually defeating seasoned and senior domestic treasure appraisal experts with such poise on the international stage, bringing great pride to the nation.

This made the students admire Huo Sining deeply, almost treating her as an idol and a goal to surpass, while some already started quietly plotting to use this opportunity to build a good rapport with Huo Sining.

Huo Sining was unaware of these students’ thoughts. After taking on Professor Xie’s task, she didn’t refuse and straightforwardly jumped into the reservoir, heading toward the center of the ancient tomb.

Soon, Huo Sining agilely discerned the actual location of the tomb’s entrance.

Professor Xie, without unnecessary words, showed full trust in Huo Sining, promptly instructing the archaeological team to start handling it on site.

Without large-scale excavation, the staff cautiously broke open a very small entrance. Once opened, someone immediately used specialized survey equipment to explore inside. After confirming precision, the formal excavation began.

“Professor Xie, no mistake, this is the entrance to the tomb!”

The archaeological team swiftly started digging. Even though the tomb was underwater, the excavation was not as easy as imagined. In fact, both sides of the tomb’s entrance passage were piled with hard rocks, making it extremely challenging to dig through.

Unlike other work, archaeology doesn’t allow the use of explosives for brute force, as doing so could damage artifacts inside the ancient tomb. Therefore, only the most basic tools were used, slowly carving by hand.

Thus, from discovering the tomb entrance to finally opening the passage wide enough for an adult to enter, it took about five to six hours.

With the passage open, Professor Xie was the first to wield an emergency light and move inside the passage, followed by Ji Kun and other experts.

Having participated in the excavation of the Xianyang Yunling Ancient Tomb, Huo Sining knew the rules. Almost instinctively, she retrieved a high-definition camera from her backpack (Space), after which she signaled to Su Qingqing, urging her to follow closely and enter the passage behind Senior Brother Ji Kun.

The other students wanted to enter as well, but, firstly, they didn’t have Huo Sining’s skills, lacking confidence, and secondly, they were there to learn with the professor, and without his directive, they dared not act rashly. So, they could only stand outside the passage helplessly, watching as Su Qingqing and Huo Sining entered the passage.

Outside the passage, only an entrance just big enough for an adult had been carved, but after entering, it widened. The square passage was built with bluish stones, able to accommodate several people walking side by side.

The passage wasn’t straight; it was a curved path. After walking about dozens of meters, they came before a stone door.

Professor Xie signaled the experts to halt, then he walked forward to examine the stone door closely.

Huo Sining timely raised the camera, zooming in to capture the exquisite stone door in the frame.

A stone door about three meters high and four meters wide was carved with two Beast Heads. They looked neither like lions nor tigers, but their eyes were terrifyingly bulging, glaring at the group. Each Beast Head held a stone ring in its mouth, carved with exquisite skill. The heads seemed so lifelike, as if ready to leap out from the stone door anytime.

While the experts marveled at the craftsmanship of the stone door, Huo Sining noticed at the base of the beast heads a square protrusion, appearing to have some engravings that looked like a string of characters.
