Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1384: Chapter 1369: Rescue

Approaching the giant whale was extremely difficult because it was constantly wailing in pain and frantically thrashing against the waves, while the whaling ship, though severely damaged, apparently did not intend to give up and planned to wear down the young whale to the end.

Huo Sining had no choice but to approach slowly from the other side of the whaling ship.

To avoid detection by the people on board, she first let Qibao slip into the storage ring, then recited the Invisibility Spell to hide both herself and the little dolphin, before allowing the dolphin to gradually approach the whaling ship.

As a result of this approach, she noticed several prominent Dongyang characters printed on the other side of the ship’s hull.

Upon seeing these characters, Huo Sining’s anger instantly surged.

She had initially assumed that this ship was a Huaxia fishing vessel departing from the East Sea, so although she was angry, she thought it best not to say anything considering they were all fellow Huaxians.

But unexpectedly, it was actually a Dongyang ship.

This immediately reminded Huo Sining of a very bloody scene she saw at the East Ocean Port one year ago.

Due to their giant size and the high value of various organs and even body fat, blue whales have been targets for early whalers since the 19th century, and were heavily hunted.

The number of blue whales hunted worldwide increased rapidly, yet their reproduction and growth rate was very slow, compounded by the worsening ocean pollution that deteriorated their habitat, causing their population to plummet and even approach extinction.

To protect the endangered whale resources, related countries signed the international whaling treaty in Washington, stipulating that besides Arctic and finback whales, gray whales, blue whales, humpback whales, fin whales, and bowhead whales were protected and prohibited from killing.

However, even after the so-called whaling treaty was signed, some countries, like Dongyang Country, continued to secretly fish, openly disregarding the treaty’s bans against nations, claiming their whaling was for scientific research.

When Huo Sining was an exchange student in Dongdu, she personally witnessed a whaling ship return to port, having killed nearly three hundred minke whales, over two hundred of which were pregnant mothers.

Such a large-scale killing of whales, even those pregnant, was unavoidably ruthless and even the typically bloodthirsty Europeans couldn’t stand it.

Yet the Dongyang side remained indifferent and obstinate, insisting they don’t catch whales, or this decade’s skill will be lost, and bizarrely arguing their whaling was to study at what age whales reached adulthood, claiming that such research necessitated killing whales.

If the previous red and horrifying scene at East Ocean Port made Huo Sining feel only cruelty and helplessness, now seeing a living young blue whale being killed before her eyes was truly outrage-inducing.

Huo Sining felt a surge of nameless fury rising within her, her blood rushing.

Weren’t these people supposed to be studying whales, claiming external criticism was interfering with their customs? Weren’t they studying when whales become adults? Well, she was going to help them with their research to the end!

Huo Sining guided the dolphin in the other direction, no longer forcing it to continue approaching the whaling ship, and while the dolphin swam away, Huo Sining’s hand reached into the seawater to channel the Spirit of Azure Pearl into her fingertips, turning the spiritual energy into threads that rapidly spread through the seawater, quickly swimming towards the sea area where the young whale was.

The young blue whale was still attacking the whaling ship with a determination not to stop until it had overturned the ship.

The whaling ship was hit, evidently enraging the sailors inside, many of whom gathered on the deck, checking the damage while continuously shooting at the giant whale.

Whale Harpoon Guns were fired at the small young whale like they were free, but in the chaos, the young whale was not hit by many more harpoons.

Just at this moment, the Spirit of Azure Pearl released by Huo Sining arrived silently, and Huo Sining controlled the spirit to slowly envelop the young whale.

Perhaps sensing something unusual in the spiritual energy, the whale that had been wailing in pain and attacking madly suddenly became quiet.

Often, people mistakenly equate whales with sharks, but in fact, whales are extremely gentle animals, much like elephants on land.

Although whales are huge creatures in the ocean, they are not fiercer because of their larger size.

They feed on tiny marine plankton, opening their massive mouths wide to let seawater and plankton rush in like a hundred rivers converging, then closing their mouths to let water escape through their baleen, filtering out the small animals that they swallow.

Blue whales, too, like most whales, are mild-mannered animals, usually very quiet.

Unless truly provoked, whales generally don’t initiate attacks.

Perhaps because the spiritual energy offered help to its body and wounds, the giant whale was quickly enchanted by it, and as Huo Sining gradually withdrew the spiritual energy, the young whale suddenly panicked and abandoned its attack on the Dongyang whaling ship, swiftly turning around to follow Huo Sining and the dolphin’s direction.

Huo Sining had been waiting for this moment; she brought Qibao out and whispered something into the little fellow’s ear.

The little one’s eyes lit up immediately, looking at Huo Sining mischievously: “Hehe, fun, Qibao will complete the task!”

Huo Sining nodded, patted the little dolphin’s body, and said, “Go ahead, be safe.”

After receiving the order, the dolphin quickly swam away with Qibao, while Huo Sining plunged into the sea, using the power of the Water-Repelling Pearl to swim swiftly and flexibly like a sea fish to the injured young whale.

Huo Sining deliberately enveloped herself entirely with the Spirit of Azure Pearl, and soon the mysterious aura she emitted attracted the young whale’s attention entirely to her.

The young whale sank to the sea bed, and when Huo Sining swam in front of it, the enormous creature’s head was right in front of Huo Sining, and its pair of deep blue eyes locked with Huo Sining’s gaze.

The whale’s eyes appeared larger than the lanterns hanging under the eaves of Huo Sining’s villa, as pure as a child’s, yet the pain and panic expressed in those eyes made Huo Sining feel a deep sense of discomfort.
