Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1354: Chapter 1349: Not Glass Jade

Huo Sining cut a few more times, revealing a polyhedron with seven or eight faces, resembling a honeycomb.

However, the rough stone did not reveal jadeite as everyone had imagined.

“Is this white fog?”

Seeing the dense white fog emerging from those faces, Li Jun leaned closer and frowned deeply.

He had gambled on rough stones for so many years and was very familiar with fog layers.

This rough stone was originally cut from the center, and after being split in half, a concentrated white fog layer appeared in the middle. Such a situation was indeed difficult to assess.

Generally speaking, fog layers appear on the edge of the surface, and once a fog layer is wiped from a rough stone, its price increases.

But seeing a fog layer appear after being cut in the middle was a first for Li Jun.

Logically, this situation suggests either the rough stone has mutated or the surface layer is too deep and the fog layer appears in the middle.

But Huo Sining’s rough stone was neither of these cases; the appearance of a fog layer at this time was ultimately a bad sign.

“Haha, dreaming of cutting a rise on a scrap piece! Must be crazy! Under that white fog, it’s definitely all white cotton, not worth a damn!”

Upon seeing the white fog layer on the rough stone, Sakai Ichiro laughed and called out to Huo Sining with glee.

He apparently saw the problem with the white fog; although he didn’t have much experience in stone gambling, he knew quite a bit of theory.

No matter how you explain it, the white fog cut from this rough stone made no sense. The color was too dense and had never been recorded in any stone gambling books he’d read; it was clearly a bad omen.

As soon as Sakai Ichiro spoke, Watanabe Yasu mumbled something in Dongyang, causing the four Dongyang people to laugh maliciously, looking at Huo Sining with mocking and malicious eyes.

Although Huo Sining stayed in Dongyang for more than three months, she couldn’t understand some Dongyang dialects or slang, but seeing the expressions on Watanabe Yasu and Hattori Keiko’s faces, she knew they weren’t saying anything good.

Coldly glancing at the four fools, a faint smile suddenly appeared on Huo Sining’s face:

“Sorry, Mr. Sakai, but I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. This is a fog layer, and a very good white fog layer at that. The jadeite underneath is not worthless, but High Jade.”

After saying this, Huo Sining couldn’t be bothered to waste words with these irrelevant people and instead turned to ask Li Jun:

“Young Director Li, do you happen to have sandpaper on your estate?”

Before resolving the stone, the reason Huo Sining looked at the rough stone with a tense expression and hesitated was not due to the fog layer.

She had long known what kind of jadeite lay beneath the white fog and wouldn’t assume it was a sign of failure in stone gambling.

The reason she found this rough stone tricky was because the jadeite under the fog layer was immensely valuable, and she dared not recklessly use a grinder for fear of grinding away even a tiny piece of the precious jadeite.

So for safety’s sake, she chose the safer approach: wiping the stone.

Li Jun didn’t know why Huo Sining needed sandpaper, but since she asked, he didn’t question it and quickly ordered the estate’s steward to fetch some.

Meanwhile, Huo Sining began her work, carefully bringing the jadeite near the grinder, gently rubbing away the outermost white fog bit by bit.

Once she determined no more could be removed, she stopped to move on to another face.

After nearly half an hour, Huo Sining’s arms were sore, having removed most of the white fog from the whole jadeite, leaving only a thin layer resembling white gauze on every face of the rough piece.

By this point, the greenness within the rough stone was visible to the naked eye.

“It’s really turning green!”

The piece of jadeite in Huo Sining’s hand was smaller than an adult’s fist, but indeed, a vibrant green emerged from beneath the white fog.

Su Qingqing was so excited that she couldn’t help but exclaim.

By now, the steward had arrived with a large stack of sandpaper, and Huo Sining began polishing it right away.

Sakai Ichiro and the Watanabe father-son duo, who were waiting to laugh at her, were now silent, their expressions ominously dark.

Although the jadeite’s type couldn’t be discerned through the white fog, the fact that the green color remained so transparent through the fog layer proved the jadeite was of quality.

This also meant that Sakai Ichiro had missed out on a treasure during his prior stone gambling!

Within just an hour, Sakai Ichiro’s earlier mockery was swiftly contradicted by Huo Sining, leaving their faces grim.

Over ten minutes later, a pile of discarded sandpaper lay at Huo Sining’s feet, and the top of the rough stone was covered in fine white grain; its original appearance was obscured.

Yet everyone knew that the jadeite in Huo Sining’s hand was by no means ordinary.

Li Jun was almost certain that Huo Sining’s jadeite was top-grade, possibly glass type, and maybe even imperial green.

In Li Jun’s intuition, the chance of this rough piece producing imperial green even surpassed glass type.

For during the polishing process, Huo Sining appeared very serious, her eyes showing an uncontrollable excitement that was hard to hide.

However, the final result would only be known once the jadeite was fully exposed.

For some reason, while Huo Sining was resolving the stone, Li Jun had an eerie sense that this rough piece might yield an unexpected outcome.

This feeling amused Li Jun himself; after all, with top-grade emeralds and imperial green already surfacing, what more surprise could there be?

At most, another top-grade imperial green might appear, which would actually be great. In that case, he wouldn’t hesitate to shamelessly plead with Huo Sining to sell the jadeite to him, securing a flagship piece for Li’s Jewelry.

After using up over a hundred sheets of sandpaper, the jadeite was finally revealed.

Huo Sining washed the jadeite clean with water, a jadeite the size of an egg nestled in her palm.

“Imperial green, it’s truly imperial green, and glass type too!”

Li Jun grinned widely; the jadeite was now fully uncovered, its color bright and clear, lush with green, lying in Huo Sining’s palm like glass, where even the lines on her palm could be seen clearly.

The egg-sized jadeite resembled a giant drop of water, moving as if water flowed within.

Water flowing?

Li Jun’s expression suddenly froze, staring at the jadeite in Huo Sining’s palm.

His face quickly changed, his eyes widened in disbelief at the jadeite, and he suddenly exclaimed, “No, this isn’t glass type!”
