Urban Martial Saint

The next morning at half past eight, the people of the Shen Family got up on time and had breakfast with Zhen Nan. However, everyone from the Shen Family had a sleepless night, so one could imagine their state of mind.

Seeing them in such a state, Zhen Nan felt a sense of relief, but he still politely said, ”Last night, there was a funeral procession outside that disturbed everyone’s rest, and I am truly sorry. Seeing that everyone appears to be exhausted, why don’t we postpone today’s visit to the tea house until tomorrow so that you all can rest up?”

”Hmph, once we Shen Family members decide on something, we never change our plans. Since we decided to confront them today, it must be today, and we will absolutely not postpone it!” Anyun glared coldly at Zhen Nan and said, ”Saying this to you is useless; you simply do not understand what the martial spirit means. You business folks are used to working regular hours and wouldn’t understand!”

Zhen Nan’s face showed a slight change. Anyun had always been dismissive of him, and now, she even criticized him in front of so many people, which made him lose face completely.

Actually, Anyun was just overly angry about last night’s incident, so her words were quite blunt. She publicly reprimanded Zhen Nan, making the situation extremely awkward.

Fortunately, Brother Jiu was sitting next to Anyun and saw that the situation was off. He quickly said, ”What Anyun means is that we had already made a prior appointment, and it would be inconvenient to change it now. Mr. Lin, we appreciate your kind offer, and on behalf of everyone, I thank you, Mr. Lin!”

Although Brother Jiu spoke to Zhen Nan politely, he only referred to him as Mr. Lin, not acknowledging him as a brother-in-law. In fact, the people of the Shen Family basically did not recognize Zhen Nan’s status as a brother-in-law at all nor did they acknowledge any relation to the Lin family, which was evident from their interactions.

Zhen Nan, although furious inside, couldn’t really show his anger towards the people of the Shen Family, and could only suppress his feelings, saying, ”Since that’s the case, I won’t stop you all. You may not be familiar with the roads in Shenchuan City. Would you like me to send someone to guide you there?”

”No need,” said Brother Jiu. ”Qianyue has lived in Shenchuan City for a few days before and knows the area somewhat; he can lead us there!”

”That’s good!” Zhen Nan nodded and said, ”In that case, I won’t disturb you any further. If there’s anything you need, feel free to contact me!”

”Thank you, Mr. Lin,” Brother Jiu replied with a faint smile, but the others from the Shen Family largely ignored Zhen Nan. Among them, only Brother Jiu made some superficial gestures; the rest were hardly willing to exchange even a few words.

After breakfast, Zhen Nan left first, and the people of the Shen Family drove directly to the tea house. Qianyue led the group, but Baichuan did not go with them. His strength was not sufficient to confront people at Sha Men, so he stayed at the Lin family’s home with a few younger members.

Baichuan had been quiet from last night until breakfast. Once most of the Shen Family had left, he immediately seemed energized and rushed to find the few young people.

These young men were all about the same age as Baichuan and had grown up together in the Xihang Shen Family, so their relationships were quite good.

Once the elders had left, these young men became much more lively. One tall young man grabbed Baichuan’s arm and said, ”Baichuan, you’ve been in Shenchuan City for so long, is there any interesting place around? Take us out to see!”

Another young man quickly waved his hand and said, ”Feilin, Uncle Jiu and Aunt Er are fighting it out with the people from Sha Men. It’s not really the right time to go sightseeing. Baichuan, you should first tell us about the situation over at Sha Men. We don’t know how much of a chance Uncle Jiu and Aunt Er have!”

That tall Shen Feilin immediately said, ”Xiao Ke, you’re being overly worried. Don’t you know Uncle Jiu’s strength? Any one of the Shen Family’s Ten Outstanding Members can defeat the Invincible Under the Heavens. How can those people from Sha Men compare to Uncle Jiu? Besides, our family has brought so many masters this time; dealing with those from Sha Men is just a matter of time till victory. I say we should take advantage of the elders not being back yet and go out to explore Shenchuan City!”

Xiao Ke thought for a moment and shook his head, ”Although that’s true, Uncle Jiu and the others are fighting it out. It doesn’t seem appropriate for us to just go out for fun. I think we should just wait at home!”

”You, you worry too much. We’ve already won for sure, so what’s the use of staying at home?” Feilin scoffed and, putting his arm around Baichuan’s shoulder, said, ”Right, Baichuan!”

Baichuan smiled and said, ”Actually, Xiao Ke makes a good point...”

”Damn, we grew up together, and now you’re turning your elbow outwards!” Feilin immediately pushed Baichuan’s shoulder and said, ”If he’s right, am I wrong?”

”That’s not what I meant...” Baichuan waved his hands and said, ”You’re right, since we’ve come all the way to Shenchuan City, we obviously can’t just stay in all the time. But with the elders out fighting at Sha Men, it really doesn’t seem right for us to go wandering about!”

”So we can’t stay in, and we can’t go out, what do you really mean?” Feilin asked.

”Hehe...” Shen Baichuan chuckled and said, ”Actually, we can undertake a task that will benefit our family! This way, not only are we not cooped up at home, but we also help alleviate our elders’ worries. When the elders return, who knows, they might even praise us?”

”A task that benefits the family?” Several youths immediately looked his way, Xiao Ke anxiously asked, ”What task?”

Shen Baichuan glanced at everyone and said, ”Before you came to Shenchuan City, had you heard of someone named Ye Qing?”

”Ye Qing?” The group looked at each other in confusion as most of them had never heard the name, only Shen Feilin said, ”I think I’ve heard cousin Hua Yu mention him. Why, is he from Shenchuan City?”

Shen Baichuan said, ”He is not from Shenchuan City, but he is doing quite well in Shenchuan City now!”

”Oh,” the group nodded, Xiao Ke said, ”So what does that have to do with us? You mentioned something beneficial for the family just now, what exactly is it? Don’t change the subject!”

”The matter I mentioned is related to this Ye Qing!” Shen Baichuan replied with a cold smile, ”Do you know what martial arts Ye Qing practices?”

”What martial arts?” the crowd asked.

Shen Baichuan took a breath and said gravely, ”Li Style Bajiquan!”

”What?” The group collectively gasped, being members of the Shen Family, they very well understood the implications of Li Style Bajiquan.

After the battle between the Northern Fist King and the Southern Fist King, the Northern Fist King was defeated, and the Southern Fist King disappeared. Although the Shen Family won, the Northern Li Family and the Shen Family of Xihang became archenemies, having clashed several times before. For the Shen Family, the Northern Li Family was the true nemesis. Descendants of the Li Style Bajiquan never set foot in the Southern Six Provinces, yet suddenly a descendant appeared in Shenchuan City, and this was a big deal!

”Is that true? Who told you that?” Shen Feilin asked urgently.

”Of course, it’s true. I’ve fought him myself; I know best!” Shen Baichuan replied gravely.

”Really?” Shen Feilin was still doubtful, ”Descendants of the Li Style Bajiquan don’t dare enter the Southern Six Provinces, how could they be in Shenchuan City? Are you sure you weren’t seeing things? If he really is a descendant of the Li Style Bajiquan, he should know the grudge we have with the Northern Li Family. Would he dare display Bajiquan in front of you?”

”I have fought him personally, there’s no mistake!” Shen Baichuan paused for a moment then added gravely, ”Moreover, this person is also the prime suspect in the murder of Senior Tie Yongwen. Previously, the Ding Family and Xingyi School, even the police were after him. But somehow, he managed to establish connections with several high-ranking officials in the province, and now no one dares touch him, not even the people from Xingyi School dare seek revenge for Senior Tie!”

What Shen Baichuan said was purely slanderous, but to these young members of the Shen Family, it filled them with righteous indignation. They were unaware of the situation in Shenchuan City, so they essentially believed what Shen Baichuan said. Their first task upon arriving in Shenchuan City was addressing the feud with Sha Men, and the second was investigating the murder of Tie Yongwen. After all, Tie Yongwen had a good relationship with the Xihang Shen Family, and Old Madame Shen had already personally ordered the family to thoroughly investigate the murder and seek revenge for Tie Yongwen!

Now, having learned from Shen Baichuan that Ye Qing was the prime suspect in the murder, everyone instantly became agitated. If Ye Qing truly was the murderer, and they could kill him to avenge Tie Yongwen, upon their return, they would surely be commended by the family.

Moreover, Ye Qing was also a descendant of the Li Style Bajiquan, inherently an enemy of the Shen Family. Combining the two, everyone exchanged glances, each feeling stirred. If all this was true, and they managed to kill Ye Qing, that indeed would be a great achievement, truly a beneficial act for the Shen Family!

”There’s actually such a thing!” Shen Feilin frowned, said sternly, ”Where is this Ye Qing now? I will go see for myself if he really is a descendant of the Li Style Bajiquan!”

”Exactly, let’s all go have a look, and see clearly!”

”The most crucial thing is to not let him escape. If he really is a descendant of the Li Style Bajiquan, we must deal with him no matter what!”

”And settle the matter of Senior Tie at the same time!”

The crowd clamored, but nobody noticed that Shen Baichuan was smirking secretly. The reason he shared this information with these few was precisely to unite their strength against Ye Qing.
