Urban Martial Saint

Just as these three were about to be struck by the Netherworld Scholar, Ye Qing suddenly charged forward, hurling himself at the Netherworld Scholar.

Hearing the noise behind, the Netherworld Scholar turned his head, only to find Ye Qing had already tackled him to the ground. Enraged, the Netherworld Scholar raised his hand and brought his Folding Fan crashing down onto Ye Qing’s head. Ye Qing, unable to dodge, could only raise his arms to block it; the Folding Fan slammed into his arm with such force that it almost broke Ye Qing’s arm.

Still, Ye Qing dared not let go, desperately clinging to the Netherworld Scholar to buy Black Bear some time.

”Seeking death!” the Netherworld Scholar roared furiously as his first hit failed to do the job, and he smashed down again, intent on crushing Ye Qing to death.

Ye Qing blocked this strike with his arm too, but he knew that passively taking hits like that was no good. As he saw the Netherworld Scholar raise his hand for the third time, Ye Qing let out a hoarse roar from his throat. Ignoring the severe pain in his arm, he grabbed the Netherworld Scholar’s wrist and with a fierce lunge forward, he bit into the Netherworld Scholar’s face.

The Netherworld Scholar had not expected Ye Qing to fight so desperately. Bitten in the face by Ye Qing, he howled in pain.

”Let go! Let go! Release me!” the Netherworld Scholar bellowed wildly, but Ye Qing, now completely berserk, would not release his grip, biting into the Scholar’s face, blood flowing everywhere.

”I’ll kill you!” the Netherworld Scholar screamed. Freeing his other hand, he grabbed Ye Qing’s neck, trying to pull him off. But Ye Qing stubbornly bit down on the flesh of his face and as the Scholar attempted to lift Ye Qing’s head, he was only tearing at his own flesh, pain making him involuntarily let go.

”Madman!” the Netherworld Scholar shouted. With his free hand, he struck Ye Qing hard. Ye Qing took several blows but never loosened his bite, fighting fiercely with a beast-like roar. Suddenly, he jerked his head and tore off a piece of the Netherworld Scholar’s face.

Even with the Netherworld Scholar’s formidable strength, he trembled with pain; after all, that was a piece of his flesh.

”I’ll kill you!” the Netherworld Scholar howled, flinging the Folding Fan into his other hand and bringing it crashing towards Ye Qing’s head with such force that had it landed, it would have surely cracked Ye Qing’s skull open.

Just as the Folding Fan was about to strike Ye Qing’s head, it was as if something had struck the Folding Fan itself. The Netherworld Scholar felt an immense force that caused his palm to go numb; he could not keep his grip, and the Folding Fan flew out of his hand, smashing into the wall behind him. The Fine Steel Folding Fan embedded itself into the wall as if it were a drill.

The Netherworld Scholar was stunned for a moment, not quite comprehending what had just happened. However, at that moment, the three people he was facing grabbed chairs and smashed them towards him, coming to Ye Qing’s rescue.

The Netherworld Scholar deflected the chair, knocking one of them to the ground. But then, several more people rushed in, frantically trying to save Ye Qing.

The Netherworld Scholar’s strength was terrifying, and these dozen people were no match for him. But, having been punched by Ye Qing, he had sustained a minor internal injury. Afterwards, being bitten in the face and losing a piece of flesh, he was somewhat dazed. Several more rushed at him and, chaotically, one managed to hit him with a chair, forcing the Netherworld Scholar to take a step back — a perfect case of an old master being overwhelmed by flailing newbies.

Having pushed the Netherworld Scholar back, Ye Qing broke free from his grasp. Immediately, two people came up to drag Ye Qing away; the Netherworld Scholar wanted to pursue, but at that moment, a group of police officers burst through the door.

”What’s the situation? What happened?” Zhao Chengshuang entered the room shouting. Seeing Ye Qing on the ground, face covered in blood, he roared in a rage, ”Who did this? Who did this? Damn it, who did it? I’ll kill him!”

”Him!” Ye Qing’s followers all pointed at the Netherworld Scholar simultaneously.

Zhao Chengshuang immediately drew his gun and turned around, causing the Netherworld Scholar’s expression to change. His strength was formidable, but Zhao Chengshuang had a gun in his hand. Moreover, in such close quarters, he wasn’t confident he could evade the guns of a dozen officers. Without hesitation, the Netherworld Scholar turned and ran to the window, kicked the window guard out, and leaped down.

”Chase him!” Zhao Chengshuang roared, ”Don’t let him get away! Damn it, shoot to kill if he resists arrest!”

There was already a swarm of police below, including armed police and special forces who had arrived in several vehicles. But catching a Netherworld Scholar was no easy task for them.

Zhao Chengshuang did not chase after him but quickly bent down to check on Ye Qing. Ye Qing, having been hit several times in the head by the Netherworld Scholar, was somewhat dazed, but overall, he was still okay. He still had a piece of flesh in his mouth — a part of the Netherworld Scholar’s face — from the fight where he had truly fought for his life.

”Eldest Brother! Eldest Brother!” several followers anxiously paced around; Ye Qing had risked his life to save them so their gratitude to Ye Qing was immeasurable.

”It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay!” Zhao Chengshuang waved his hands, saying, ”Hurry, take him down, the ambulance is downstairs!”

The underlings finally reacted, hastily carrying Ye Qing downstairs. The brothers who had been injured earlier were also taken out. Zhao Chengshuang wanted to follow, but a burst of wailing suddenly came from the room next door. Zhao Chengshuang went in with his men and discovered that Zhao Qingyue had also been there.

Zhao Chengshuang made arrangements for Zhao Qingyue and hurried downstairs to find Ye Qing. By that time, Ye Qing had already been placed in an ambulance, with Lin Huayu crying miserably beside him, refusing to leave under any circumstances.

Lin Huayu was okay, having not been hurt badly; she had only suffered a minor knock when Black Bear carried her out. But this, compared to the others, was already fortunate. The ones who were most seriously injured were the two brothers hit in the head with the folding fan by the Netherworld Scholar; the power of the folding fan was just too great.

Ye Qing had regained some strength by now and immediately asked upon seeing Zhao Chengshuang coming down, ”How is it? Those... those two, how are they?”

”Which two?” Zhao Chengshuang asked in surprise.

”My two brothers!” Ye Qing urgently said, ”They were hit in the head, are they... are they okay now?”

”They’ve been taken to the hospital already. I’ve called Lin Tianyou, and he will handle it personally,” Zhao Chengshuang reassured Ye Qing, pressing down on his arm, ”You shouldn’t be worrying about these things. As an Eldest Brother, there aren’t many who are as self-sacrificing as you are. Look at the state you’re in, are you trying to throw away your life?”

Ye Qing sighed and said, ”As their Eldest Brother, how could I possibly watch them die. Cheng Shuang, do me a favor and ask Tian You to do his best to save their lives. This time, it’s my fault; I didn’t know the enemy was so strong. They shouldn’t have to face these things!”

”Damn!” Zhao Chengshuang snorted, ”You’re like this, yet you’re still thinking about others. Stop talking nonsense, and let’s quickly get to the hospital!”

The ambulance, escorted by several police cars, left for the hospital. Of course, many policemen remained behind, conducting a thorough search for the Netherworld Scholar. As one might expect, the Netherworld Scholar had long since gone far away and was beyond their reach.

The room on the second floor had been sealed off, and several policemen were inside collecting evidence. One officer was examining the Folding Fan on the wall; another spoke, ”Old Wang, can you hurry it up? You’ve been staring at that fan hanging on the wall for ages, what’s so interesting about it?”

Old Wang waved his hand, ”Come take a look. I’ve been a police officer for many years and have never seen anything like this, isn’t it incredible?”

”What is it?” the other officer approached and looked closely, his expression changing.

The Folding Fan wasn’t merely hanging on the wall; it was embedded into the wall, half of the fan having entered into it as though it had been forcefully inlaid.

”This... This must have been a hole chiseled earlier, and then the fan was forcibly stuffed into it, huh?” the officer exclaimed in shock.

”No!” Old Wang shook his head and touched the powdered brick next to him, ”Look at this powder from the bricks, it’s all fresh. This means it was inserted not long ago. The key point is, you can see that the fan is obviously bent and deformed, meaning it was directly inserted, not put into a pre-existing hole!”

”You must be kidding!” the officer immediately waved his hand, ”Do you think that’s possible?”

Old Wang thought for a moment, and although he was very certain, he also didn’t think such a thing was possible. After all, to forcefully insert the fan into the wall would require an immense amount of strength, right?

If the Netherworld Scholar had still been there, he would undoubtedly have been shocked. Because when he tried to smash Ye Qing’s head with the Folding Fan, it was hit by something unknown, causing the fan to fly out of his hand and get embedded in the wall. Meaning, after being struck, the fan flew out with such residual force; one could imagine how terrifying the strength of the object that struck it was.

Upon reflection, if the object had hit not the Folding Fan but the Netherworld Scholar’s head, it might very well have shattered his skull. The force of that impact surely was comparable to a bullet fired from a large-caliber gun!

At the same time, in a room across from this building, an old man stood by the window, watching all this. Not far behind him sat a girl who seemed otherworldly and flawless, except for her eyes, which lacked light - she was blind.

This old man and this girl were the same two people Ye Qing had seen before Li Changqing.

As the old man stood by the window, he quietly observed a distant building. Atop this building, there was a man also looking this way. This man’s location was quite secluded, and it would be difficult to spot him if one isn’t attentive. This man was none other than the Netherworld Scholar.

The Netherworld Scholar’s face was still dripping with blood, his eyes flickering with resentment and madness. What he was most proud of was his face, and now that Ye Qing had ruined it, one could only imagine the hatred in his heart!
