Urban Martial Saint

Li Chengxing had never seen such a bizarre situation before. Looking at Li Ruoyuan’s ghost-like face, he was so frightened that he almost peed himself, and the hand holding the dagger began to tremble uncontrollably.

”You...are you a human or a ghost...” Li Chengxing asked, his voice trembling.

”Hehehe...” Li Ruoyuan let out a string of strange laughs, and menacingly said, ”Guess...”

Li Chengxing’s eyes widened in terror as he stared at Li Ruoyuan, unable to speak for a long time. But Li Ruoyuan just continued to laugh wickedly, relishing the feeling of being feared by others.

Just as Li Ruoyuan was laughing, Cui Yulong, who was standing nearby, suddenly came over and punched Li Chengxing, sending him flying. Li Chengxing fell to the ground, vomiting several mouthfuls of blood. He didn’t even have the strength to struggle and went limp on the ground.

”Hey, what are you doing?” Li Ruoyuan stared furiously at Cui Yulong and said, ”We agreed that you’d take the others, and this one was mine!”

”Don’t waste time!” Cui Yulong left him with a cold remark and turned back to the car.

Li Ruoyuan was furious, but looking at the more than twenty people lying on the ground with missing arms and broken legs, he ultimately had to swallow his anger. Cui Yulong’s strength was terrifying, his actions were ruthless, and he also had the Ink Pattern Black Gold Blade in hand—Li Ruoyuan dare not provoke Cui Yulong!

”I thought I could have some fun for a bit, but it seems the game is over!” Li Ruoyuan walked over to Li Chengxing, squatted down, and looked at him with a resigned expression. ”Sigh, you really aren’t much fun. Oh well, I’ll be merciful and give you a quick end!”

As Li Ruoyuan spoke, he reached out, grabbed Li Chengxing’s neck, and slowly drew his hand down along his spine. When he got to where Li Chengxing’s neck and back joined, he suddenly turned his palm into a claw and dug it into Li Chengxing’s flesh, firmly grasping his spine. With one hard yank, there was a snap, Li Chengxing’s body froze for a moment, and then he collapsed heavily to the ground, dying without ever knowing who he had offended.

Ye Qing was watching all this from inside the car and frowned slightly. Li Ruoyuan talked about mercy, but his actions were vicious—this person was indeed terrifying!

However, Cui Yulong’s actions weren’t much better than Li Ruoyuan’s. All of those twenty or more people had their limbs chopped off by him, and the remaining dozen or so fled when they saw the situation turn sour, otherwise, they would probably all have become crippled tonight. But with Cui Yulong’s intervention, that was enough to deter everyone. Even those from the Xingyi School and the Ding Family must have realized that Ye Qing was protected by two Top-Level Masters. If they wanted to pursue Ye Qing, they would have to think twice!

After getting on the highway, Cui Yulong and Li Ruoyuan did not accompany Ye Qing, but got off the car around ten kilometers after they were on the highway. During that ten-kilometer trip, Cui Yulong kept an eye out for any tails. Seeing no car following, he was mostly assured of Ye Qing’s safety. As long as Ye Qing left Shenchuan City, there wouldn’t be much danger. Dongzhou was Poisonous Mantis’s territory, and no one dared to provoke Poisonous Mantis there!

Driving along the highway until dawn, Ye Qing finally arrived in Dongzhou. After getting off the highway, he was in complete darkness, as it was his first time in Dongzhou, and he didn’t know which way to go.

He stopped the car on the side of the road and dialed Old Wang Ba’s number on his phone, only to hear a recorded voice say, ”The number you have dialed has been disconnected! The number you have dialed has been disconnected!”

”Really out of money?” Ye Qing mumbled as he put the phone back in his pocket. Old Wang Ba had asked him to help recharge thirty yuan a while ago, and Ye Qing had almost forgotten about it. Now, trying to make a call, he just remembered. What kind of life was Old Wang Ba living that he knew so many significant figures and yet was so poor he couldn’t even pay his phone bill?

Early in the morning, there weren’t many shops open by the roadside. Unable to find a place to pay his phone bill, Ye Qing found a passerby to ask for directions, then drove into the city and checked into a hotel to stay first.

After having breakfast outside and waiting until seven or eight o’clock, a recharge shop finally opened. Ye Qing went in and paid thirty yuan for Old Wang Ba’s phone bill, then hurriedly left to call Old Wang Ba. However, the same recorded message played: ”The number you have dialed has been disconnected!”

”Damn it, how much does this Bastard owe?” Ye Qing was frustrated, went back into the recharge shop, and said, ”Boss, add another thirty!”

”Buddy, I think thirty probably won’t be enough!” The shop owner looked at Ye Qing and said, ”I just checked that mobile number, it still owes over a hundred!”

”What?” Ye Qing was stunned. ”Over a hundred in debt? You’ve got to be joking, how can it be over a hundred? Doesn’t it get cut off after just missing by like ten or something?”

”Who knows,” the shop owner replied. ”Only the person making the calls would know! It might be because he was calling out when his service got suspended, and if the call wasn’t hung up, the charges would continue to rack up. Plus, that number isn’t from the Eastern Province, so there are roaming and long-distance charges. More than a hundred in debt is normal!”

Ye Qing was baffled. Who on earth did Old Wang Ba call last night to rack up such a long bill? He paid two hundred yuan for Old Wang Ba’s phone bill, and this time the call finally went through.

”Hello hello hello, is this Ye Zi? It’s Ye Zi, right?” As soon as the call connected, Old Wang Ba’s eager voice came through, sounding as if he had been waiting for Ye Qing’s call all along.

”Bullshit, if it’s not me, then who would it be!” Talking to this old hooligan, Ye Qing felt a headache coming on and said, ”Didn’t you tell me to come to find you? I’m in Dongzhou now. Where are you?”

Old Wang Ba said, ”Come pick me up at the Zhongtian Hotel in Jiulong Shun!”

”Pick up my ass, it’s my first time in Dongzhou. I don’t even know the place, how would I know where the hell your Jiulong Shun is!” Ye Qing said, ”I’ll give you my address, you come find me!”

”I can’t, I’m stuck here!” Old Wang Ba replied anxiously.

Ye Qing said, ”What do you mean, stuck? Are you trying to con me again? What are you doing exactly?”

”I’m not conning you, I really can’t leave this time!” Old Wang Ba said dejectedly, ”I’m being held here!”

Ye Qing furrowed his brows and asked, ”What do you mean you’re being held? When you asked me to come to Dongzhou, it wouldn’t be because you got caught and want me to come and bail you out, would it?”

Thinking of how much Cui Yulong and Cui Yu trusted Old Wang Ba, Ye Qing felt somewhat frustrated. Can this old scoundrel be trusted?

”Damn it, when I asked you to come, it was for serious matters. Being caught is a separate issue!” Old Wang Ba exclaimed, ”Stop the nonsense and come quickly, or the boss will call the cops soon!”

”What the hell did you do to piss off Heaven and Earth?” Ye Qing asked, while secretly suspecting whether this guy was involved in some sleazy business at the hotel and got reported by a girl for being too sleazy-looking.

Old Wang Ba said, ”I didn’t do anything! I just ran out of money to pay for the room, so come quickly and save me!”

”I don’t believe you!” Ye Qing replied bluntly, ”With your personality, if it was just a matter of not having money to pay for the room, you would have run away by now. Do you need me to bail you out? Come clean, what sleazy thing did you really do!”

”That’s unjust!” Old Wang Ba cried out in grievance, ”Believe me, I really didn’t do anything sleazy. I... I didn’t dare to run away, the boss of this hotel is Huangfu Ziyu, and if she found out I stayed at her hotel without paying, she would flay me alive!”

Ye Qing was speechless for a moment. Old Wang Ba, the champion of courting death, had the audacity to mess with Huangfu Ziyu. Was he really sick of living?

Ye Qing tentatively believed Old Wang Ba, took a taxi and rushed to Jiulong Shun where, sure enough, he found the Zhongtian Hotel right next to it. The hotel looked incredibly majestic from the outside, and the interior was even more luxurious than many of the hotels Ye Qing had seen in Shenchuan City. But thinking that it was Huangfu Ziyu’s property, Ye Qing got over it. Opening a few such hotels in Dongzhou for someone like Huangfu Ziyu was just like child’s play.

Standing in the lobby, Ye Qing called Old Wang Ba, who told him to go to the security room to find him, which indicated that the guy was probably already nabbed by security.

When Ye Qing got to the security room, he could hear Old Wang Ba’s sleazy voice from afar: ”Ah young man, this is a classic case of a peach blossom calamity. Plenty of peach blossoms aren’t a good sign, but disasters of a beautiful woman. But, if you believe in me, I’ll teach you a trick that will definitely turn your peach blossom calamity into fortune, and the disaster of a beautiful woman into a wealthy lady. Not only will you gain both fame and wealth, but you’ll also step onto the path of success and become a person of high society. Look at this, this turning luck jade bracelet was specially consecrated by high monks from Mount Wutai, something ordinary people couldn’t even dream of. But I see a connection between us, so I’ll grudgingly part with it, for three thousand eight hundred and eighty yuan, it’s yours!”

Walking into the security room, Ye Qing saw Old Wang Ba brandishing a pendant jade bracelet and spouting a fountain of boasts at a security guard with a face full of acne and an edgy hairstyle. The acne-faced guard looked full of longing, all his pimples glowing red, completely taken in by Old Wang Ba’s spiel, transfixed by the so-called turning luck jade bracelet in his hand.

Seeing Ye Qing enter, Old Wang Ba made a hushing gesture to him, signaling to wait a minute and let him finish this deal first before discussing any other matter.

Knowing Old Wang Ba was scamming, and seeing the security guard nearly falling for it, Ye Qing went straight in to interrupt the scene, saying, ”Let’s go!”

”What are you doing?” The acne-faced guard immediately stood up, looking puzzled at Ye Qing, and asked, ”Who are you?”

”I’m here to take him away!” Ye Qing said.

Acne-face said, ”He incurred expenses of three thousand eight hundred here and hasn’t settled the bill. He can’t leave; the manager asked me to keep an eye on him.”

”How much?” Ye Qing’s eyes widened. He had thought it was just a small sum of a few hundred yuan, but to his surprise, this old scoundrel had run up a tab of three thousand eight hundred here. Adding the previous two hundred for phone credit, did that mean that upon arriving in Dongzhou and just meeting Old Wang Ba’s face, Ye Qing had to fork out four thousand yuan for this damn swindler?
