Urban Martial Saint

After dinner, Ye Qing stood up to say goodbye. Under the deliberate arrangement of the women, Fang Tingyun saw Ye Qing downstairs.

Walking alone with Ye Qing, Fang Tingyun felt her cheeks burning hot and dared not look at Ye Qing. Ye Qing was also a man of few words. As the two walked in silence for a long time, Fang Tingyun could no longer bear the awkward silence and whispered, ”They are just like that, don’t take it to heart. Pingping may seem abrupt in her speech, but she actually has a good heart, don’t be mad at her.”

Ye Qing whispered softly, ”I know.”

Fang Tingyun glanced at Ye Qing and asked softly, ”How was work today? It was your first day on the job, was it a bit uncomfortable?”

”It was okay.” Ye Qing paused slightly and said, ”I’m just not very familiar with the company’s operations yet, that needs a process.”

”It’s always like that. You can’t expect to handle the company’s operations without half a month’s time,” Fang Tingyun chuckled, ”However, I believe you, Ye, will catch on very quickly.”

Ye Qing looked at Fang Tingyun and replied softly, ”Thank you.”

As Fang Tingyun and Ye Qing made eye contact, her heart unwittingly skipped a beat and her cheeks grew hotter. She waved her hands hurriedly, ”You don’t have to be so formal with me. If it hadn’t been for you, who knows what might have happened to us.”

Ye Qing said, ”You all need to be more careful recently, this matter might not be over yet!”

Fang Tingyun laughed, ”Don’t worry, the police station is so close by, I really don’t believe they’d dare to cause trouble in our house. Besides, with so many of us together, if they thought about retaliation, they’d have to weigh it carefully!”

Ye Qing nodded and said nothing more.

”By the way, have you found a place to rent?” Fang Tingyun asked.

Ye Qing: ”Still looking.”

”So where are you staying in the meantime?” Fang Tingyun inquired curiously.

”A friend’s place,” lied Ye Qing, not wanting to worry this kind-hearted girl.

”Oh,” Fang Tingyun seemed relieved by the answer.

As they left the community, Ye Qing stopped, ”Okay, this is far enough. I need to go over there to take the bus. Thank you for your hospitality.”

Fang Tingyun was slightly disappointed, wanting to continue walking with him. But she was too shy to voice it and could only nod her head, handing over the bag she was carrying to Ye Qing, ”This is for you.”

”What is it?” Ye Qing asked curiously.

Fang Tingyun smiled mysteriously, ”You’ll know once you get home and open it.”

Having said that, Fang Tingyun turned around and ran back to the community, not giving Ye Qing a chance to refuse.

Ye Qing held the bag, hesitating for a moment, but eventually, he left with it.

Fang Tingyun returned home joyfully, where everything was tidy already, and Mo Xiang had returned to her own room.

”Wow, someone seems pretty happy!” Huo Pingping lounged on the couch in skimpy attire, looking quite provocative.

Fang Tingyun’s face turned slightly red, ”Cutie?”

”That little crazy girl is crazier than you. Just to see that dream lover of hers a few more times, she even ran off to the hospital for a night shift,” Huo Pingping sneered. ”I tell you, she’s even more desperate than you. Right, boss?”

Mu Qingrong put down her book, glanced at Fang Tingyun, and said, ”I actually think Tingyun and Ye make a good match.”

”Match my foot!” Huo Pingping immediately sat up and said, ”Xiao Fang, don’t listen to the boss filling your head with nonsense. Let me tell you, a man can go without looks, height, or ability, but never without money. What is marriage? It’s two people partnering to live life together. Since it is about partnership, the man’s income will decide the quality of life.

Xiao Fang, you have the looks and the capability, there are plenty of diamond bachelors who would want to marry you. Look at Ye Qing, wearing that military outfit for who knows how many days, not even a decent set of clothes to his name, what kind of good life can you have with him? Take it from your sister, you can date him, but don’t give your heart to him.

Otherwise, you will definitely regret it for the rest of your life!”

Fang Tingyun widened her eyes at Huo Pingping and whispered, ”I think being capable is more important than being rich for a man!”

”I don’t disagree with you there, but does Ye Qing count as capable? If serving as a soldier is considered a capability, our country would be full of capable people!” Huo Pingping waved dismissively, ”In this era, knowledge changes your fate. He has some skills in detective work, but so what? Without knowledge, he is still just a laborer!”

Mu Qingrong said: ”Enough, Pingping. Stop confusing Tingyun with your own bitter experiences. Not every man is irresponsible. In love, the most important thing is mutual trust, not a foundation built on money!”

Huo Pingping retorted, ”That’s easy for you to say, yet you haven’t had a clean, pure love yourself, still hustling every day for money. Let me tell you what trust is, the only thing worth trusting in this world is the series of numbers in your bank account!”

Mu Qingrong shrugged helplessly, and after a moment of silence, Fang Tingyun shook her head, ”I still trust Ye!”

Huo Pingping covered her face with one hand, helplessly exclaiming, ”Oh my goodness, what exactly has he done to you to make you fall so deeply!”

Fang Tingyun did not answer but turned to close the door, fastening the small lock that Ye Qing had made.

”Oh wow, you really are afraid someone will come in at night and mess with you!” Huo Pingping frowned, ”I tell you, that gadget is just show. After such a big incident, those people would be too busy escaping to dare trouble us. Ye Qing is just showing off, misleading you all.”

Fang Tingyun couldn’t help but say, ”Pingping, why are you so dissatisfied with Ye Qing?”

Mu Qingrong laughed, ”It’s not that she is dissatisfied with Ye Qing, she is dissatisfied with poor people!”

”Wrong!” Huo Pingping tossed back her head, ”To be precise, I am dissatisfied with poor men!”

Mu Qingrong and Fang Tingyun looked at each other and, without a word, turned and returned to their room.

Huo Pingping stood in the doorway, urgently saying, ”Hey, listen to me, I have a lot of theories. Dealing with men is not as simple as you think, you...”

Through the door, Fang Tingyun shouted loudly, ”Ms. Ping, no matter what you say, I still believe in Ye!”

”Doomed fate! Doomed fate!” Huo Pingping said in distress, but no one paid attention to her, and she could only boredly return to her room in the end.

At midnight, all the women had been asleep for a while. Suddenly, a loud noise came from the living room, as if something had fallen to the floor.

The closest to the living room, Mu Qingrong was the first to react. She rushed to the door in a hurry and locked it.

Right then, someone tried to open her door from the outside. Since it was locked, they couldn’t open it. It was good that she had acted swiftly, otherwise, the door would have been opened straight away.

Mu Qingrong, always sharp, quickly pushed a cabinet in front of the door, blocking it, and then hurriedly grabbed her phone to call the police.

Right at that moment, a scream suddenly came from another room—it was Huo Pingping’s voice. However, the sound quickly stopped, as if someone had covered her mouth.

Mu Qingrong’s heart raced, she knew something bad had happened outside. But the police wouldn’t arrive so soon, and she had no idea what the situation outside was, leaving her extremely anxious.

Fortunately, only Huo Pingping screamed. Fang Tingyun and Mo Xiang did not, which indicated that those two were unharmed.

However, before she could decide what to do next, a loud bang suddenly came from the door—it was someone trying to kick it open.

Luckily, Mu Qingrong had the cabinet blocking the door, or it would have been kicked open in just a few tries. It was for that reason that she had gained some time.

But Fang Tingyun and Mo Xiang weren’t as fortunate as she was. Mu Qingrong clearly heard the door next door being kicked open and heard the sound of a struggle, mixed with the screams of Fang Tingyun and Mo Xiang.

”Fuck, who are you calling?” an angry roar came from outside, in a man’s voice.

Mu Qingrong was even more terrified; she couldn’t help but recall Ye’s words. Could it really be those people coming back for revenge?

Mu Qingrong’s mind went blank for half a second, then she suddenly turned around, opened the window, and shouted at the top of her lungs, ”Help! Help! There’s a thief!”

In the stillness of the night, Mu Qingrong’s shouts instantly made several nearby buildings light up, clearly with several people looking in her direction.

”Eldest Brother, there’s another bitch here!” a man rushed to say.

”Fuck, I can’t hear you, huh?” another man shouted angrily: ”Damn it, why won’t this door open?”

”She must be blocking it from inside!”

”These bitches really do have some skills, ah, knowing how to put up mechanisms at the door to stop us. Fuck, if it weren’t for this damned mechanism, we would have taken them all away by now!”

”Quit your yapping, and let’s just take these three away first. These bitches, we’ll show them tonight, I want back the money I lost from these three!”

The footsteps outside were chaotic, and Mu Qingrong listened, her heart pounding with fear. Hesitating for a moment, she suddenly pulled the cabinet away from the door and flung the door open.

In the living room, five men in masks and black clothes were about to carry off the three women. Fang Tingyun, Mo Xiang, and Huo Pingping were all gagged with duct tape and bound. Of them, Huo Pingping looked the worst; with disheveled hair, half-undressed, and blood at the corner of her mouth, it appeared she had suffered greatly.

Just as the five men were preparing to take the three women away, they were startled when the door suddenly opened.

The three women’s expressions changed drastically as they signaled frantically to Mu Qingrong, urging her to run away quickly.

”Fuck, you’re quite loyal, huh. Good, I’ll take you with me too!” one of the men charged straight at Mu Qingrong, reaching out to grab her.

He had barely gotten within a meter of Mu Qingrong when she suddenly extended her right hand from behind her back, holding a bottle of Mosquito Repellent, and sprayed it in his face.

The man screamed in pain, frantically scraping at his face. Although Mosquito Repellent isn’t very harmful to the human body, it’s very painful when it gets into the eyes.

Mu Qingrong took this opportunity to hurriedly run out of the house, shouting loudly as she ran downstairs, ”Help! Someone help! Help! There’s a robbery!”

This was a method taught to her by Ye, and she hadn’t expected to have to use it so soon. However, the method was indeed effective. The Mosquito Repellent had bought her a moment of time, and as she ran out of the house, shouting loudly, lights in many surrounding rooms had already turned on, people looking her way.

”Fuck, let’s see if you can run to the heavens!”

One man was about to chase after her, but was held back by someone behind him.

”Third Brother, stop chasing, let’s quickly take these three babes away!”
