Urban Martial Saint

Mu Qingrong’s delicate brows furrowed slightly, the young man before her was none other than the company’s Sales Department Supervisor, Wang Xuan.

Having graduated from university just two years ago, Wang Xuan was considered one of the old-timers who followed Mu Qingrong from the start. Most of the original followers had switched jobs, leaving only Wang Xuan behind. And practically the entire business operations were single-handedly supported by him.

Mu Qingrong acknowledged that Wang Xuan was talented. However, the man was also notoriously arrogant due to his abilities. In the entire company, aside from Mu Qingrong herself, he never took anyone else seriously and was often harsh in his speech to the employees.

Mu Qingrong was aware of Wang Xuan’s feelings for her, but she was utterly repelled by his behavior. Yet, for the sake of the company’s development, she couldn’t reprimand Wang Xuan, as many customers were tied to the company through him.

Mu Qingrong glanced at Ye Qing, who remained expressionless and showed no sign of dissatisfaction at Wang Xuan’s words.

Mu Qingrong felt slightly relieved and said, ”Let me introduce you, this is Mr. Wang Xuan, the supervisor of our sales department, and this is our new salesman, Ye Qing.”

”Salesman?” Wang Xuan looked Ye Qing up and down and said, ”Mr. Ye, dressed like this, are you preparing to go to war or to conduct business? As an employee of the company, you represent the company’s image when you’re out running business. Going out looking like this, anyone who doesn’t know better would think we’re a security company!”

Mu Qingrong’s delicate brows creased as she said, ”Today is Ye Qing’s first day at work. He doesn’t know the rules yet, so please don’t be too concerned. Just explain the business matters to him.”

”Alright, leave it to me!” Wang Xuan smiled at Mu Qingrong and said, ”By the way, Feiyun called yesterday and asked us to bring a proposal over for them to look at.”

”Really?” Mu Qingrong was elated, they had been working on Feiyun Company’s business for over a month, and the total came to over three hundred thousand, making it the largest deal of the company this year.

”I’ve already prepared the proposal. Qingrong, why don’t you come and take a look too?” Wang Xuan offered graciously, his eyes burning with eagerness as he unabashedly gazed at Mu Qingrong.

Mu Qingrong avoided Wang Xuan’s fervent look and said softly, ”You can handle it, I still have to go to the factory this morning.”

Wang Xuan appeared somewhat disappointed but nodded and said, ”Alright, then I’ll head over in a bit.”

Before long, several employees of the company arrived in twos and threes, including the plump woman and the man from the recruitment fair the day before.

After Wang Xuan’s introduction, Ye Qing had already memorized the names of several employees.

The company wasn’t large, with only nine people in total. Apart from Boss Mu Qingrong, there were eight others. The plump woman and the man were part of the sales department; the woman was named Huang Yun, and the man was Cheng Feilong.

Upon seeing Ye Qing, their eyes rounded in shock.

After Ye Qing left the previous day, the two had been making fun of his remarks, laughing about it for the whole day. But who could have expected the man they treated as a joke to be sitting in their office today?

”What... What’s going on?” Cheng Feilong exclaimed in surprise.

Wang Xuan glanced at Ye Qing and said, ”Isn’t he the salesman you two brought in yesterday?”

”Really?” Cheng Feilong said, ”But he had no chance yesterday, he left right away, and the boss wasn’t pleased with him at all.”

”Is that so?” Wang Xuan initially didn’t pay much attention to Ye Qing, but Cheng Feilong’s words piqued his interest.

If Ye Qing wasn’t recruited at yesterday’s job fair, then how did he end up here?

The only person who could casually bring new people into the company was Mu Qingrong. Could it be that he was recruited by Mu Qingrong? But, what was his relationship with Mu Qingrong?

Thinking of the incident where Mu Qingrong stood by Ye Qing’s side that morning, Wang Xuan’s brows furrowed deeply. He was someone with a narrow mind, and this was especially obvious regarding Mu Qingrong. He couldn’t even bear others to glance at Mu Qingrong too much. Any factor that might threaten his relationship with Mu Qingrong needed to be eliminated immediately!

Ye Qing sat in front of his desk while Wang Xuan handed him the company’s product list to familiarize himself with the items listed. The company’s main products were surveillance equipment and construction materials, nothing particularly innovative. Many small businesses worked in this field in Shenchuan City, which made the competition extremely fierce.

In less than an hour, Ye Qing had thoroughly understood everything on the list. What concerned him most now was when he would be dispatched to run business outside, which would give him the opportunity to search the streets for his younger brother.

However, by almost noon, Wang Xuan still showed no intention of assigning him any other tasks. It wasn’t until close to the end of the workday that Wang Xuan came over, handed Ye Qing a file bag, and said, ”Take this to Das Company, they need it urgently. Go now, don’t delay.”

Das Company was located in East City District, while Ye Qing’s company was in Xicheng District. This meant that Ye Qing had to rush from the west to the east side of Shenchuan City to deliver the documents. And with lunchtime approaching, Wang Xuan’s actions clearly indicated he didn’t want Ye Qing to have lunch.

Yet, Ye Qing said nothing, simply picking up the file bag and heading out. He had waited all morning for a chance to go out, and now that the opportunity had come, it suited him perfectly.

After boarding a bus, Ye Qing stood by the window, closely observing the streetscape, scanning the streets for any disabled beggars.

```
However, Boss Lin seemed to have completely held back in the past few days, and those people were nowhere to be seen on the streets. From the West City District to the East City District, Ye Qing didn’t even see any beggars along the way.
Ye Qing felt helpless. It looked like he would have to wait a few more days to continue the search. Without Boss Lin letting those disabled people out, Ye Qing had no leads to follow.
Of course, Ye Qing had a plan in mind. If push came to shove, he would take a risk and go directly to Boss Lin. To save his brother, he didn’t mind risking his life!
It took Ye Qing nearly two hours to finally reach Das Company, but it was quitting time, and there weren’t many people left in the company.
Unable to find the person receiving the case files, Ye Qing went downstairs, found a food stall, and ordered a bowl of noodles for lunch.
Below the company there was a small plaza, connected to several other companies nearby. Therefore, the few food stalls in the plaza were doing quite well. The one where Ye Qing sat was already packed, surrounded by city office workers. Ye Qing’s military attire stood out glaringly among the crowd.
”Ye!”
Just as Ye Qing bowed his head to eat, a surprised voice suddenly reached him.
Looking up, Ye Qing saw Fang Tingyun looking at him from a distance, her face full of surprise. The girls nearby were looking at Ye Qing curiously, whispering among themselves as if discussing the relationship between Ye Qing and Fang Tingyun.
”Ye, what brings you here?” Fang Tingyun walked over, her heart filled with joy at the sight of Ye Qing.
”Delivering materials,” Ye Qing lifted the file bag he was carrying.
”Delivering materials?” Fang Tingyun was taken aback, then smiled and said, ”Oh, you’re delivering materials for Ms. Mu’s company, right?”
Ye Qing nodded and asked, ”You work here?”
”Yeah, I work up in the Developer Company on that side.” Fang Tingyun sat down next to Ye Qing and smiled, ”How is it going? Getting used to the job?”
Ye Qing nodded, ”It’s okay, a bit easier than before.”
The other girls who had come with Fang Tingyun also sat down, and one of them couldn’t help but ask, ”Tingyun, are you here to eat or to meet a friend? At least order something, you might not be hungry but we are!”
That reminded Fang Tingyun of the girls beside her. She blushed slightly and said with an embarrassed laugh, ”These are my colleagues, sorry, I’ll go order some food first.”
Fang Tingyun stood up and left. The girls stared at Ye Qing, examining him as if he were undergoing a medical check-up, scanning him from head to toe. Finally, one of the girls asked, ”Big brother, what do you do exactly? Can soldiers just roam around freely now?”
”I’m a salesman,” Ye Qing answered earnestly.
”Salesman?” The girls were startled and then burst into laughter. These days, salesmen are the most image-conscious; which one isn’t dressed in a suit? Ye Qing’s outfit didn’t look like that of a salesman at all.
Scratching his head, Ye Qing said, ”I really am a salesman.”
”Big brother, stop joking, what kind of salesman dresses like you?” one of the girls couldn’t help saying, ”At least you should wear a suit.”
Ye Qing looked at his military uniform. This was already the second time someone had mentioned this today. Should he really take some of his limited money to buy clothes?
Another girl laughed, ”Big brother, are you wearing this because you like it, or is there some other reason?”
Ye Qing replied, ”I just got out of the service not long ago.”
”Big brother, come on, how do you become a salesman after being discharged? You’d be better off as a security guard, the pay would be much higher than what you’re earning now. Not to criticize, but looking at your outfit, being a salesman doesn’t suit you. You’d better honestly stick with the promising career of a security guard!”
The girl teased, without any malice, merely feeling that Fang Tingyun’s attitude towards Ye Qing was different. They all had a good relationship with Fang Tingyun, and naturally didn’t want her to be deceived by someone incompetent.
And to them, Ye Qing, in his military attire, looking as if he couldn’t even afford a decent set of clothes and having to resort to eating a bowl of plain noodles on the street, was just that kind of incompetent person. Hence, they couldn’t help but feel some antipathy towards Ye Qing!
Ye Qing looked down and said nothing. His silence did not mean he was foolish, he could hear the hostility in the girls’ voices.
Ye Qing was not in the habit of quarreling with others, especially not with women. Arguing with women is one of the least wise things to do in the world.
While the girls chattered on, a girl at a nearby table suddenly stood up, grabbed a man next to her, and shouted loudly, ”Thief!”
