Urban Martial Saint

After Ye Qing left, Fang Tingyun and her friends also fell into a heated discussion. Naturally, the topic was about Ye Qing and the events that had happened that evening.

”I have to say, this Soldier Brother does have some skills,” Huo Pingping genuinely sighed.

”Of course!” Fang Tingyun said with a delighted face. She hadn’t even mentioned what happened on the train. She still remembered how Ye Qing fought the fraud and rescued people on the train, and she couldn’t help but admire him more and more.

Huo Pingping glanced at Fang Tingyun and said, ”Actually, it’d be okay to invite him over to co-rent with us.”

”Right, right,” Fang Tingyun happily agreed, as Huo Pingping had hit the nail on the head with her own thoughts.

Huo Pingping smiled and said, ”That way, we’ll have someone to look after each other, and with him around, we won’t be afraid of anyone bullying us!”

”Right, right,” Fang Tingyun echoed repeatedly, quite satisfied with what Huo Pingping was saying.

Huo Pingping said, ”And besides, it’s not easy for a guy to cook for himself. Here with us, he’d have an easier time with meals, too.”

”Right, right,” Fang Tingyun was very happy and felt that Huo Pingping was speaking her mind with every sentence.

A sly glint flashed in Huo Pingping’s eyes as she said, ”The most crucial point is, this would bring him and Xiao Fangfang closer together, and maybe they could develop something in the future!”

”Right, right,” Fang Tingyun said, but then her face suddenly changed, and she quickly waved her hands, ”No, no, not like that, not like that. He... he’s just a friend... ”

”Okay, Tingyun, you don’t need to argue with Pingping,” Mu Qingrong said with a light smile as she stood up. ”You’re no match for her in a war of words!”

”The way the big boss says it, as if she has nothing but a mouth!” Huo Pingping stood up, gracefully twirled around, proudly puffed her chest out, showing off her lovely figure, and said, ”This is my real capital!”

The girls burst into laughter, caught up in their playful banter, when the door opened, and Chen Keai returned, pouting.

Fang Tingyun asked curiously, ”Eh, Cutie, why are you back so early? Weren’t you supposed to work the night shift tonight?”

”What night shift? She just worked this morning, there’s no night shift!” Huo Pingping curled her lip and said, ”Little lass, did you go see your White Horse Prince again tonight?”

”White Horse Prince?” The girls immediately crowded around, even Mo Xiang put down her book and couldn’t help but glance at Chen Keai, asking, ”Cutie, when did you get a White Horse Prince?”

Chen Keai’s face turned bright red, and her lovely Big Eye eyes anxiously stared at Huo Pingping as she stamped her foot and said, ”Pingping, you promised not to bring this up, how could you break your word?!”

”I said I wouldn’t reveal that person’s name, but I never agreed not to mention the matter!” Huo Pingping laughed and said, ”Besides, it’s so normal for a young girl to be smitten. You should ask Xiao Fangfang, she’s even more intense than you!”

Fang Tingyun’s face turned instantly red, and with a ”ptui,” she said, ”Pingping, just keep on gossiping here!”

”Oi, has telling the truth become gossiping these days?” Huo Pingping shook her head and sighed, ”Seems like it’s tough to be a good person!”

With a face flushed with embarrassment, Fang Tingyun ignored Huo Pingping and turned to Chen Keai, saying, ”Cutie, who exactly is your White Horse Prince?”

Chen Keai turned her head away and said, ”I’m not telling!”

Mu Qingrong watched the girls with a faint smile, but her mind drifted back to the sharply defined face of Ye Qing. She had impulsively hired Ye Qing on a whim, but she still had doubts about whether he could be a good salesperson. After all, Ye Qing was too silent to have the eloquence a salesperson should have.

The next morning, Mu Qingrong was the first one to arrive at the company. Today was Ye Qing’s first day at work, and she wanted to come in early to give some instructions.

Mu Qingrong’s company was located in a twenty-something-story office building in the Xicheng District of Shenchuan City, occupying just an office space of a little over one hundred square meters. In Shenchuan City, such small companies were far too common. As a result, the stature of Mu Qingrong, the boss, wasn’t too impressive.

On the contrary, as the owner of such a company, she was actually more tired than many office workers because of the enormous pressure on her shoulders.

However, Mu Qingrong’s unyielding character meant she wouldn’t compromise despite any hardships. Some people had advised her to give up the company, telling her that with her beauty and capability, marrying into wealth was not a difficult task. However, Mu Qingrong rejected such suggestions, preferring to work hard every day rather than give up halfway.

Actually, Mu Qingrong was always the first to arrive at the company. However, today she had deliberately come earlier than usual. Yet, as she got to the company’s door, Mu Qingrong saw a man in green military attire standing at the entrance, holding two steamed buns in his hand.

This person was none other than Ye Qing. Accustomed to waking up early, he had bought a few steamed buns after his morning exercise and had not yet finished eating when Mu Qingrong arrived.

”Good morning,” Ye Qing greeted politely.

”Morning,” Mu Qingrong nodded, her impression of Ye Qing improving slightly. Regardless of whether he was suitable as a salesperson, his early arrival already spoke volumes about his attitude.

Mu Qingrong unlocked the company door, gave Ye Qing a tour, and introduced him to the company’s situation.

The small company had a streamlined department structure, split into a sales department and a delivery department, with Mu Qingrong handling all other matters.

After introducing the company, Mu Qingrong led Ye Qing to a desk, saying, ”This is your office desk, you know how to use a computer, right?”

”I know a little.” Ye Qing spoke the truth; when he had attended university, computers weren’t so widespread. He did learn some in the military, but it was mainly tracking and counter-tracking, with not much skill in actual office work.

”That’s good.” Mu Qingrong nodded and said, ”You can sit here for now. When they arrive, I will introduce you to the business department manager, Wang Xuan. He will tell you what to do.”

After Mu Qingrong spoke, a sudden pang of pain in her chest made her unable to resist pressing on her stomach, her eyebrows furrowing slightly as she said quietly, ”You sit first, if there’s anything you don’t understand, you can come to me.”

”Okay.” Ye Qing nodded but didn’t sit down, instead looking at Mu Qingrong, he asked, ”Stomach pain?”

Mu Qingrong nodded. The pain in her stomach was so severe she couldn’t stand and had to bend over to sit on the chair next to her, whispering, ”An old issue, it’ll be fine soon.”

”Do you have any burping?” Ye Qing inquired.

”No.”

”What about acid reflux?”

”No.” Mu Qingrong couldn’t help but give Ye Qing a look, wondering why he suddenly had so many questions.

”You often skip breakfast, don’t you?” Ye Qing asked again.

Mu Qingrong nodded. Sometimes when she was busy, she might forget not just breakfast but even lunch.

Ye Qing said, ”You can try rubbing two fingers below the left ribcage area, it might ease the pain.”

”Really?” Mu Qingrong reached down to the spot Ye Qing described, but the ribcage area was large, and she was unsure exactly where to rub.

Ye Qing extended his hand to his own chest, showing Mu Qingrong the exact location.

Mu Qingrong pressed in the direction Ye Qing had indicated, rubbing the area a few times, and indeed, the pain was greatly alleviated. Just a moment ago, she couldn’t even stand up due to the pain, but now, her stomach just felt a dull ache.

As her stomach pain subsided, Mu Qingrong immediately felt more spirited, and her admiration for Ye Qing grew a little.

”Did you study medicine?” Mu Qingrong asked curiously.

”Just some home remedies from the countryside,” Ye Qing said casually. ”It’s not a serious issue, mainly caused by irregular eating habits. As long as you eat regularly, it will gradually improve.”

Mu Qingrong sighed, ”That’s true, I get so busy every day that I even forget to eat. Like this morning, I was planning to buy something to eat downstairs, but I completely forgot!”

Ye Qing looked at Mu Qingrong, thought for a moment, and handed her a steamed bun from nearby, ”Why don’t you eat this for now?”

Mu Qingrong had mentioned it casually, not expecting Ye Qing to take it so literally. Looking at the steamed bun, she was somewhat at a loss for how to react. She wasn’t like Ye Qing; she couldn’t swallow it dry.

Mu Qingrong waved her hand to decline, ”Never mind, I’ll go down and eat something later, it’s not that busy today.”

”Oh.” Ye Qing responded, not being one to stand on ceremony, he ate the remaining bun as well.

Seeing Ye Qing enjoy the dry steamed bun so much, Mu Qingrong couldn’t help but say, ”What was life like in the military for you?”

Ye Qing replied, ”Very good, the military has standard meals.”

”Are you used to living like this now?” Mu Qingrong asked.

Ye Qing said softly, ”It’s enough just to fill the stomach. There’s no room for being accustomed or not.”

Mu Qingrong couldn’t help feeling touched by how little Ye Qing required. Yet on second thought, if he wasn’t so undemanding, how would he have ended up working for her? But could he really handle this job?

Mu Qingrong stared at Ye Qing, her thoughts predominantly on the affairs of the company, while Ye Qing remained calm, his own thoughts fixated on his younger brother, Ye Jun. This salesman supposedly could run around the streets every day; when could he go out?

After quite some time, Mu Qingrong finally snapped out of her reverie and suggested, ”Wear different clothes to work tomorrow. What you are wearing now isn’t suitable for our job!”

Ye Qing looked at his own military uniform without feeling there was anything wrong with it. Plus, he had no other clothes.

At the door, a young man in a suit and leather shoes walked in. On seeing Mu Qingrong, his eyes lit up, and he smiled, ”Qingrong, you’ve arrived before me again.”

After speaking, he glanced at Ye Qing and wondered aloud, ”Is this a new security guard for our company?”
