Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 277: Chapter 259: Calming the Situation

”Chu Yu! How dare you?” Yang Jie looked at Di Jing sitting on the ground, dazed, and hurriedly helped her up. He didn’t even care what was said just now. She was his girlfriend; it was right to protect her.

”Watch your words. Don’t think you’re the only one with a witness!” Chu Yu snorted coldly, the corners of her mouth curving up into an arc, ”What’s the benefit of framing me?” As soon as she finished speaking, tears began to slide down, and she leaned into Qian Shiyu’s arms.

Di Jing was somewhat stupefied. Friends with Chu Yu for three years, she never thought this act would be used against her. Usually, it was watching Chu Yu pitifully scheming against her own sister, Chu Ci, in front of their parents. Now that it was used against her, Di Jing felt the grievances of Chu Ci during the past three years. She wanted to apologize, but now was not the right time.

”Chu Yu, stop pretending. If anyone has photos, just check the Bluetooth records to see who sent them from which phone!” Di Jing said with a sneer, ”My Bluetooth nickname is ’Qing Jian’!” Saying this, Di Jing took out her phone and opened the Bluetooth, ”If you don’t believe me, search for it. If it was sent by me, I’ll eat my phone in front of you!” She had already considered the severity of the situation. If she really took the blame, it would be a major demerit on her record; she couldn’t admit to it.

Watching Chu Yu with tears in her eyes looking at her, yet still sobbing, Di Jing felt a bitter taste in her heart, knowing that this friendship should end. Perhaps she chose the wrong friend to begin with; how could someone who could scheme against her own sister genuinely be sincere to her friends?

In fact, that was not the case. In Chu Yu’s heart, as long as someone took the blame for her, she would be doubly good to them afterward. But if someone betrayed her, they shouldn’t blame her for being unmindful of their years of friendship.

”Di Jing, I treated you as a friend; I believed whatever you said. If you hadn’t spoken up, why would I say anything against a classmate of our Class One?” Chu Yu cried pitifully, her tears soaking her eyelashes, making those around her more inclined to believe her. Their hearts were already tilting toward Chu Yu.

”You can even set up your own sister, let alone a regular classmate? As long as someone displeases you, what can’t you do?” Di Jing snorted coldly. She certainly noticed the looks of the people around her, staring at her, clearly convinced of Chu Yu’s innocence. She felt an urgent panic inside but still covered her forehead and got up, ”The docile Chu Ci has also, thanks to you, become a defiant, arrogant, and disrespectful girl in the eyes of your father. As an illegitimate child, what right do you have to speak? The truth lies in people’s hearts.”

Luo Qianqian nodded; Di Jing’s words were not wrong. Chu Yu was, after all, an illegitimate daughter whose mother only registered her under the Chu family’s household after she was born. Just by looking at the birthday, one could tell she was not a child born under legitimate circumstances.

”Di Jing!” Chu Yu forgot to cry, her eyes glaring in disbelief. This matter was a sore spot for her, a touch of death. But Chu Yu hadn’t completely lost her head; biting her teeth tightly, she looked wronged, ”Is this how you see me, as your friend?”

”Quite the acting skills there; poor Xiao Ci indeed,” He Wenyu shook her head, clearly believing Chu Ci. Therefore, it was obvious she distrusted Chu Yu. Hearing those words, she could only sigh at how hard Chu Ci’s life was.

Having heard He Wenyu’s words, Luo Qianqian was stunned. She knew that if this affair were to spread, it might affect Chu Ci, and it would be best to resolve it quickly, ”Then why did the rumor start from Class One?”

Luo Yanran also saw the situation was not simple. Although both parties weren’t exactly good people, it seemed there was too much involved that could damage the young girl’s reputation. Especially since these few sentences pointed to the sister’s friend, she also said, ”That’s right, the rumor started from Class One, spread from the second floor, and then to the first floor, third floor, and the boys’ dormitory. These girls can attest to the matter.” With a broad gesture, she pointed to the girls who were questioned earlier, and they quickly nodded their heads.

”Di Jing told me!” Chu Yu was taken aback. She did indeed first mention this in her own dorm, which slowly spread. Seeking help, she looked at Qian Shiyu, who hesitated, then glanced at the injured Di Jing and remained silent. She didn’t want to be a pawn or be involved in this matter. She had seen everything from start to finish and knew the whole story. If she testified for Chu Yu that Di Jing said it, but Di Jing’s dorm mates also heard what Di Jing said, the testimony would be rebutted. If she testified for Di Jing, saying it was Chu Yu’s doing, she was in the same class as Chu Yu, and facing her every day would mean she’d be more likely to be targeted for revenge than Di Jing, who wasn’t in the same building. But staying silent would also result in revenge afterward. Having thought of Chu Yu’s methods, Qian Shiyu shuddered.

”Were there other people around when Di Jing said it? Was it in the dormitory, or where?” Luo Qianqian asked, although she disliked Di Jing too, compared with the more troublesome Chu Yu, she still wanted to find the real source.

”It was in the dormitory.”

”In the corridor!”

Di Jing and Chu Yu said in unison.

Di Jing looked at Chu Yu, then at Luo Qianqian, smiled, and bowed deeply to Luo Qianqian, ”I’m sorry.” Then she straightened up and looked at Chu Yu, ”When I went back to the dorm, you were already waiting for me, sitting on my bed. At that time, there was one or two people not in the room; the others can vouch for me. Then you took the photo and left. I didn’t go out; I was writing my military training diary in the room, my roommates can testify for me.”

Chu Yu, on the other hand, glared at Luo Qianqian with a vicious look, blaming her for meddling, but Luo Qianqian didn’t care. She could completely avoid any contact with Chu Yu to prevent a frame-up.

”It was in the afternoon...” Chu Yu stopped halfway through her sentence, realizing the photo clearly showed the time of day, she bit her lip and clenched her fists tightly.

Then she turned to Luo Yanhai, ”Instructor, I’m sorry, I misunderstood!” She bowed deeply and straight to Luo Yanhai.

Luo Qianqian, however, gave her a look of increased respect, thinking how flexible and resilient this person must be. Such people are likely to retaliate fiercely, aren’t they? And... Luo Yanhai would be returning; this retaliation would still fall on her own head.

He Wenyu continued to take photos with a sneer.

Then everyone saw Chu Yu moving pitifully towards Luo Qianqian, about to bow and apologize, when suddenly she fainted and fell backward.

Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, thinking how ridiculous it was to faint backward while leaning forward. It made no sense at all, clearly, it was a ruse to avoid taking responsibility.

Luo Yanhai, seeing his sister nod at him, instructed people to carry away the fainted Chu Yu and the injured Di Jing as well. Then he turned to Luo Qianqian, ”You must have been frightened, rest well these few days. And your classmate should also stay in, don’t let her be upset,” he clearly meant Chu Ci, and Luo Qianqian nodded.

”Yes, Instructor, but it seems someone else has yet to apologize,” she said, looking toward Yang Jie—the one who obviously took the photos.

Yang Jie was startled, then awkwardly apologized to both of them.

Luo Yanhai nodded, ”Leave the rest to the teachers to resolve. I don’t want more rumors damaging the reputation of the military!” With that, he saluted and left.

”Take your classes back, have a meeting!” The team leader, a department head, covered her forehead with her hand. Such a big incident on the first day, how was she going to explain this to the parents? Then she rushed toward the medical office—now with two injured students. If anything serious happened, she could say goodbye to her position as the department head.

The Class One head teacher had not shown up, leaving the deputy head teacher, the chemistry teacher Liu Suan, who sounded like sulfuric acid—quite fitting for chemistry—to handle the class meeting. Qin Ling, the newly graduated Chinese teacher assigned to Experimental High School, had accompanied the class for military training. Luo Qianqian thought he seemed more like a geography teacher—Qin Ling, the Huai River, that sort of thing. The class head teacher remained mysteriously absent.
