Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 276: Chapter 258: The ’Bloodbath’ Triggered by an Apple (Part III)

She took out her phone and made a call to her sister. Then she returned to the dorm to check on that stinky kid who seemed fine despite having snacked on two apples that her sister gave him. He had snatched them away, but she, Luo Yanhai, decided not to pick a fight over it, considering the circumstances of the photograph.

”Found the person?” Xu Tianyi was lying on the bed and, seeing Luo Yanhai enter the room, he sprang up suddenly, ”Everything okay?”

”How long do you think I’ve been gone?” Luo Yanhai glared at Xu Tianyi irritably, ”Which class is the boy from?”

”Don’t know, he’s in the lower bunk by the door on the right side of dorm 107.” Xu Tianyi was taken aback but still answered, knowing the girl was too embarrassed to follow, and they had left early. He couldn’t be in two places at once.

Luo Yanhai nodded, ”You don’t have to wait up for me later, go ahead and sleep. I expect it’ll be quite a hassle.”

Watching Luo Yanhai leave the room, Xu Tianyi clenched his fists and took out his phone to look at the photo inside.

”Hehe, my brother said there’s a lead, want to go see?” Luo Qianqian’s mouth curled into a wicked smile as she held her phone and the foldable umbrella from her backpack, ready for any damage she’d have to reimburse herself for!

”Let’s go.” He Wenyu nodded fiercely, ”I feel like she can’t be unrelated.” His eyes shifted to Zhao Shiyu’s bed, laced with revulsion.

”The mastermind isn’t her, she looks more like a lackey than someone who calls the shots.” Fu Mingxue lifted her head, finding He Wenyu much more agreeable after learning from Luo Qianqian’s stories that they were similar.

”Poor Xiao Xue, having to stay in her lower bunk, if she wets the bed at night, you’ll be out of luck,” Luo Qianqian joked, casting timid glances at He Wenyu and saw her glaring back, smirking to herself. There had been no bedwetting previously, just midnight bathroom buddy calls after watching a horror movie, nearly resulting in a wet bed.

”Really?” Fu Mingxue clicked her tongue and then laughed it off, ”No worries, there’s still room for me to squeeze in and sleep with you all.”

The buzz of Luo Qianqian’s phone interrupted them. She looked down to see Luo Yanhai’s message; the boy had been found, and she just needed to bring the girl over.

For Luo Qianqian, this task was a piece of cake. She looked up at Chu Ci with a twinkle in her eye, ”Which class, or which dorm, is that girl from?”

”Class Eleven,” Chu Ci responded with a start, feeling no need to investigate deliberately, since Chu Yu would reveal it herself. So, after thinking it over, she provided the answer.

”Which dorm is Class Eleven in?” Luo Qianqian murmured, her gaze falling on the darkening scene outside the window. Was it time to light some incense sticks and pray? How else to explain her constant run-ins with these kinds of people, even if sometimes she was caught in the crossfire?

”309,” He Wenyu blurted out, checking her phone before speaking.

Luo Qianqian gave a surprised look to her friend, then nodded and grabbed the umbrella to leave the dorm. But in the blink of an eye, she was back again, ”What’s this girl’s name?”

”Di Jing. The boy in the photo is called Yang Jie; they’ve been together since junior high.” Although they weren’t from the same school, discussions about them always floated around at home. Chu Ci sighed lightly; she didn’t expect that information to be useful in this situation.

”Okay, Chu Ci, just stay in the dorm with Fu Mingxue to avoid any mishaps.” After she finished, she looked over at an eager Fu Mingxue with a bit of disbelief. Why did it seem like she was gearing up for a fight?

”Sure,” Chu Ci didn’t plan to go anyway, not wanting to add to the troubles on days when her dad was away from home and being caught by Chu Yu would make life even harder. She couldn’t allow herself to be manipulated by Chu Yu and her mother any longer; she needed to protect her image in her father’s eyes.

Fu Mingxue, seeing Chu Ci agree, didn’t say much and nodded her head, watching Luo Qianqian, He Wenyu, and Li Qi leave excitedly.

Luo Qianqian held an umbrella, which of course, was still in its non-combat state hidden within her clothes. Observing Luo Qianqian, He Wenyu clenched her fists and snickered to herself, feeling that high school life wouldn’t be boring with Qianqian around, truly a trouble-magnet. Li Qi couldn’t help but smile helplessly on the side, who would have thought both of them were prepared for a fight? She tightened her grip on the keys in her hand, her weapon. The keychain was retractable, and hitting someone with it would definitely hurt; it could stretch up to two meters, a gift from her father to celebrate her academic promotion.

”Where’s Di Jing!” Standing at the entrance of Room 309, Luo Qianqian felt like she was the vanguard summoning a battle between two armies, swaggering at the door of 309.

”Who are you?” A girl came out of Room 309, frowning at the sight of the girl with twin ponytails in front of her.

Luo Qianqian observed carefully and realized that she didn’t seem to be the girl from the photo, without the distinct sharp features, somewhat rounder instead.

Luo Qianqian snorted coldly, ”Di Jing from Class Eleven of the first year has slandered a soldier; such behavior could result in detention. The instructor has ordered me to take her to the boys’ dormitory entrance.”

The girl at the door gasped in shock upon hearing this and stepped aside to peer into the room. A girl stood in the middle of the dorm, hugging a pillow, her face filled with terror. She had just shown Chu Yu a photo and gossiped a little, then heard that rumors had started spreading, afraid of being implicated herself. She hadn’t expected someone would come knocking so soon, her rosy complexion turning deathly pale, then iron blue.

”Di Jing, could it be that photo...” Di Jing’s roommate patted her shoulder, whispering comfortingly, ”It wasn’t you who spread it, so it’s fine.”

It then dawned on Di Jing that it indeed wasn’t she who had said it, but Chu Yu. Knowing Chu Yu’s character, she’d definitely blame it on Di Jing, claiming she was the source. Di Jing’s face grew uglier by the second. Moreover, she had sent that photo to Chu Yu, even though she had gotten it from Yang Jie. That’s right, Yang Jie! A glimmer of hope shone in Di Jing’s eyes.

Then she put down the pillow and picked up her phone. The phone had a record of sending the photo, which had come from Yang Jie’s phone, and she had only sent it to Chu Yu, which meant it had nothing to do with her!

”I’ll go with you; a clean hand wants no washing.” Di Jing gripped her phone tightly.

Luo Qianqian’s mouth twitched, she had used that saying herself before, but it felt strange hearing it from Di Jing.

After successfully bringing Di Jing to the entrance of the boys’ dormitory building, aside from the crowd of onlookers, Chu Yu and Zhao Shiyu were there too, in the front rows along with several confused instructors and teachers, smiling as they watched. Di Jing clenched her fists; if Chu Yu was going to play dirty, she wouldn’t let herself be the scapegoat!

”I’m sure everyone just heard some rumors; they originated from a photo,” Luo Yanhai nodded at Luo Qianqian, raising his phone. It was a photo of him and Qianqian’s backs, but since she had twin ponytails at that moment and most people still hadn’t recognized her, who could tell who was in the photo?

”This is a back view, and it has been rumored that the girl was unable to resist loneliness and seduced an instructor.” Seeing that everyone around was whispering about the matter, Luo Yanhai decided to clarify it openly, ”This photo includes me and Luo Qianqian from Class One of your school.” Watching the surprised and scornful looks around, Luo Yanhai smiled slightly and continued, ”I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Luo Yanhai, and I am Luo Qianqian’s cousin.”

Seeing Chu Yu’s incredulous expression, Luo Qianqian couldn’t help feeling strangely happy.

”I hope that the person who started this groundless rumor will step forward. This photo was taken by Yang Jie of Class Eleven, and Di Jing of Class Eleven was with him. He has said that he didn’t see any intimate gestures, only thought it was odd to see people there at night, so he took the photo, but they never spread such talk!” Luo Yanhai’s face turned grim, ”It doesn’t bother me if you gossip about me; why involve my sister? To spread rumors about a soldier entails criminal responsibility.”

Di Jing turned pale as Luo Yanhai’s gaze settled on her, she immediately raised her phone, ”It wasn’t me who said it; I only sent it to Chu Yu. Chu Yu told me someone in their class was having an affair with an instructor, it has nothing to do with me!”

”Di Jing! You!” Chu Yu’s face went dark with fright, but then quickly adopted a pitiful look, ”I only heard it from you, this student is from our class, how could I possibly spread rumors? Don’t think you can find a scapegoat and be blameless, Di Jing!”

”A dog eat dog world, a mouthful of fur,” He Wenyu cheerfully snapped a couple of photos from the sidelines, ”I’ll save this for later, I’ll call it ’The Dog Fight!’”

”Bluetooth records can prove it! I only...” Di Jing hadn’t finished her words when Chu Yu smashed her head with a phone, drawing blood.

Luo Qianqian’s mouth fell open in astonishment; this display of ’friendship’ was so fragile in the face of self-interest.
