Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 269: Chapter 251: Escalation of Contradictions

Chu Yu gnashed her teeth and glared fiercely at Luo Qianqian, but Luo Qianqian smiled indifferently back at her.

What a joke, since when was Luo Qianqian afraid of anyone?

Many in the class looked at Chu Yu with sympathy. She was very capable, but unfortunately, she had been outshined by someone even more capable—and it was clear it was done intentionally to target her.

”Teacher, I’m running for class president,” Gu Yanzhi stood up. ”I don’t dare to compete with Luo Qianqian, afraid she’ll beat me up, so I have to find someone to suppress her.”

The homeroom teacher, quite surprised, looked at the few of them and nodded, adding Gu Yanzhi’s name below that of the class president.

At this moment, Qiao Xiyang also stood up. ”After some thought, I admit that I can’t compete with Luo Qianqian academically, or out-do Gu Yanzhi in management.” After all, the latter had a good-looking face: ”So I’ll opt for something close to their status, I’m running for the position of Youth League secretary.”

So that was their game plan. Luo Qianqian nodded in understanding. As long as the key class officer positions were taken by them, Chu Yu likely wouldn’t be able to cause much trouble.

”Chu Ci, don’t you want to run for something? We’re all taking the fall for you,” Luo Qianqian said, her eyes showing a touch of grievance as she looked at Chu Ci.

Chu Ci pondered for a moment and raised her hand, but at the same time, Chu Yu raised her hand as well and spoke before the teacher could nod: ”Then I’ll run for vice class president.”

”Hehe, Chu Ci, looks like you have no choice now, but being vice president isn’t bad. Besides, with Old Gu there, he won’t dare to bully you,” Luo Qianqian chuckled mischievously. ”Go on, Pikachu.”

Gu Yanzhi shook his head helplessly; indeed, with a group of girls protecting Chu Ci, how could he compete?

Chu Ci thought about it and then lowered her hand.

”Don’t chicken out, go for it,” Qiao Xiyang chimed in, adding to the chaos.

Under the gaze of Luo Qianqian and Qiao Xiyang, Gu Yanzhi reluctantly said after a long moment, ”I feel more comfortable working with you.”

”Teacher, I’m willing to compete fairly with Student Chu Ci,” Chu Yu spoke up at that moment.

A chill flashed in Luo Qianqian’s eyes; she was already a target of resentment, what more was there to fear? On the teacher’s side, Chu Ci’s name had already been written down.

After a while, someone else ran for arts and culture representative, a ladylike girl who didn’t seem to speak too loudly, dressed in a white dress. Luo Qianqian now felt an added appreciation for the girl.

Next, the positions that had no contenders, like the sports representative, were assigned by the teacher to the tallest and strongest boy in the class. The sanitation officer was appointed to a boy who appeared very clean and neat. The majority showed no interest in running; the positions of class president and Youth League secretary, which had no extra contenders, were seamlessly taken by Gu Yanzhi and Qiao Xiyang, leaving only the vice president position as the contested race between Chu Ci and Chu Yu.

Both of them delivered their campaign speeches and solicited votes. After all, most of them were meeting for the first time and didn’t know each other well, some even struggling to remember names.

”I’m Chu Yu. I have good grades, am helpful, love my classmates, and if I become vice president, I’ll help everyone to improve together! I hope you will vote for me.”

On the other hand, Chu Ci, following Luo Qianqian’s advice, delivered her speech: ”Our class is comprised of the most excellent individuals and doesn’t need me to do much. I hope everyone can help me to improve.”

Wasn’t everyone in Class One outstanding, each with a bit of pride? Without a doubt, Chu Ci was the ultimate victor.

”Oh my, we need to protect each other as officials,” Luo Qianqian didn’t hide her voice, openly saying to the three of them, ”The state officer doesn’t commit arson, but we should light lamps together with the common folk, don’t be too arrogant, especially you, Mr. Class President. Don’t use your position to oppress classmates, especially me.”

”How could I dare?” Gu Yanzhi laughed and shook his head, understanding Luo Qianqian’s intentions as he watched the people around them, and said, ”I’m just a commoner most of the time, only acting as class president when the teacher needs someone to help move stuff.”

The people around followed with a hearty laugh, quickly closing the distance.

”Boys go to the hall to move books, girls, we need five to pick up our military training uniforms and school uniforms.” After finishing the meeting, the class teacher looked at the bustling classroom, clapped their hands, and said.

All the boys had gone out, Luo Qianqian, pulling Chu Ci to stand up, smiled at the surrounding girls, ”See, this is how you use class officers.”

Hearing what Luo Qianqian said, the petite Literature and Arts committee member also stood up, following the two.

The girls listening to Luo Qianqian’s teasing laughed out loud as well and got up to follow them, ”With your tiny frame, it’s better we handle it.”

Luo Qianqian smiled and didn’t refuse, ”Then I’ll graciously accept the care from all the heroines here.”

Seven or eight girls left together, Chu Yu gnashed her teeth in the classroom, wondering why Luo Qianqian had suddenly gone against her? It was supposed to be her chance to bond with the classmates, how did it change?

With so many people, each didn’t have to carry too many clothes, Luo Qianqian mused, ”No wonder they said to report our sizes earlier, otherwise wouldn’t we be in a terrible state if all the sizes were the same? It’s funny to think that I wear the same size as the Sports committee member...”

Everyone around laughed, Luo Qianqian spotting He Wenyu, who had also come to pick up clothes, ”Xiao Yu, you’re here to get the uniforms too?”

”Yes, it looks like you’re doing quite well.” He Wenyu nodded, a look of satisfaction on her face.

”Of course, as your sister, I can’t let you down,” Luo Qianqian confidently exclaimed.

He Wenyu looked surprised at Luo Qianqian, who never admitted to being the younger sister in front of others, why admit it now? But wisely chose not to ask; it was better to talk about it at home after school, ”Wait for me after school, I don’t know what time I’ll be finished.” He Wenyu instructed before leaving with the clothes, saving a dime on a text message.

”Qianqian has a sister too?” Everyone had reintroduced themselves when they walked over together, and the girl in the white dress, the Literature, and Arts committee member, was Fu Mingxue, who was the one asking.

”God sister, her mom is my godmother, we grew up in the same pants,” Luo Qianqian replied with a beaming smile.

”That’s nice,” Fu Mingxue’s eyes twinkled before she lowered her head, seemingly lost in thought.

Just then, they finished counting the clothes, and Luo Qianqian hurriedly carried the clothes upstairs with her classmates, coincidently bumping into the boys carrying the books on their way up as well.

”Luo Qianqian, are you serious?” Chu Ci was stunned seeing the smallest size uniform Luo Qianqian had was still at least one and a half meters long.

Luo Qianqian felt slightly aggrieved, ”Am I to blame? This is the smallest there is. I guess I’ll have to take it back home and have my godmother alter it, otherwise, it’ll really look odd.”

”Yeah, you should probably wash it before wearing it too,” Chu Ci said, then wrinkled her nose with a look of disgust at the smell of the new clothes.

”The teacher said to wear white shoes, but I suspect they’ll turn black by the end of military training...” Luo Qianqian nodded, expressing another round of consternation.

Military training would start in two days, and it was to be held at a training base, not at the school. Luo Qianqian looked bitterly resigned, faintly remembering how Luo Shufan had returned from military training as dark as charcoal, capable of playing Justice Bao just by drawing a crescent moon on his face.

”Let’s go buy sunscreen tomorrow? My brother is about to have military training too, might as well prepare some for him, otherwise, how will he flirt with girls later...” Luo Qianqian whispered to Chu Ci, ”I envy you, you have such fair skin, and Xiao Yu too, she never tans...”

”I’m fair? Look at Fu Mingxue,” Chu Ci pointed at Fu Mingxue sitting not far away, ”Look at her complexion, I feel like I come from the countryside in comparison.”

”What does that make me then, someone from a coal pit?” Luo Qianqian pouted, after all these years she had maintained a fair complexion, but it was ruined by a seaside camping trip for two days and a night during the holidays, organized by Pei Yuhao. Even having to witness Gu Yanzhi in drag couldn’t ward off the evil sun, and she had come back home as black as Bai Yizhu, the saddest part being the peeling skin, like a skinned fish.
