Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 267: Chapter 240: This is Called Cannon Fodder

”Xiao Yu, why do I feel scared just because my mom is sleeping downstairs?” Luo Qianqian pouted, ”I’m afraid she’ll come up to help me clean up my room and discover all the useless things I’ve bought.” Looking at the pile of ’brilliant’ ideas in the corner, Luo Qianqian was simply too lazy to put them into practice, it was just a spur of the moment, just like He Wenyu assessed her plan to open a store in the future.

”You just overthink things. I bought all those books and I’m not scared of my mom finding out, so what are you afraid of? Even if she discovers them now, she won’t scold you, and who knows, she might forget about it in no time,” said He Wenyu in a soothing voice. The two of them were under the same blanket, both staring at the ceiling.

”Qianqian, do you think, my cousin...”

”Better talk about that cousin of yours you’ve never met... I have only four words for your other cousin: No comment,” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”He bullied you in the past, and now he’s bullying his younger brother. He’s just a spoiled brat. If he were born into a powerful family, wouldn’t he have turned into an overlord?”

”Younger brother?” He Wenyu murmured, ”I never felt like I had any siblings since I was young until I met you, and your brother. Even though you always act like a little adult, in my heart, you will always be my little sister.”

”You’re taking advantage of me.”

”You are younger than me,” He Wenyu chuckled lightly, ”I never really had an idea what ’grandma’s house’ was. That year completely turned it into a bad memory for me. In recent years, whenever my parents discussed my grandmother’s family, I would avoid listening. They didn’t like me to begin with, and I’m not stupid enough to try to please them when it’s not reciprocated.”

”So I’m the fool... Luckily, you’re quite warm-hearted...” Luo Qianqian muttered unhappily, though her hand found He Wenyu’s under the blanket, ”Just ignore them. Why bother with people who don’t treat you well?”

”Exactly. But I think my mom was really scared. It would be natural for my parents to go back, since my grandmother died. It’s expected, both emotionally and rationally,” He Wenyu observed.

”The problem is, your uncle’s family hasn’t even made a phone call to inform you about this.” Luo Qianqian frowned, ”Maybe they want to keep tricking my dad into sending money, or perhaps something happened that made them not want to tell my dad? But a son causing his mother’s death is not something you’d want to admit, right? That in itself is unexpected.”

”I think they just want my dad to keep sending money,” He Wenyu said angrily, ”If not for the money my dad has been sending, they probably would have come to make trouble already, right?”

”Every family has its own troubles,” Luo Qianqian remarked, then suddenly sat up, ”Xiao Yu, do you think your cousin might cause trouble for your dad? Could he go make a scene at his workplace?”

”No way...” He Wenyu had a disgusted look, ”Would he really go that far at his age? And if he did... Wait, how would he know where my dad works?”

He Jun no longer worked at the Youth Palace. He had started a Taekwondo Gym with friends. Though not bustling with clients, the business was stable because it was all genuine skill.

”Then how did he find out your mom’s current location?” Luo Qianqian bit her lower lip, ”I always feel like there’s someone behind him giving instructions. How could a kid dare to ask for so much money? We’re even scared to carry our New Year’s money on us.”

He Wenyu clicked his tongue, not daring to carry money? I usually see you carrying a lot of money, though you don’t keep it all in your wallet. Even if the wallet is lost, at least you’d have enough money to get home: ”Maybe he just had a strong impression of the shop?”

”A strong impression?” Luo Qianqian shook her head, ”Back then, our sign wasn’t even up, and there was nothing in the store. Now we not only have decorations and a signboard, but we’ve even put various stickers on the glass windows. How could he associate our shop with that empty space from before? Moreover, I just remembered something: your mom hasn’t seen him much either, so how could he recognize her at a glance?”

He Wenyu paled, ”Qianqian, what are you getting at? Just say it; I’m starting to get scared,” she said, sitting up as well.

”I suspect, either your entire uncle’s family came and only he showed himself, to test my dad and mom’s reaction and assess your situation, or...” Luo Qianqian looked out the window with a fearful gaze, ”he’s got someone backing him up and this is a threat.”

”... Neither option sounds good... What do we do?” He Wenyu was at a loss, ”But my dad mentioned that grandma said my uncle is currently at the hospital taking care of his young son, and my aunt went back to her maiden home, with no one knowing how to deal with things.”

”If he has a backer, that backer will come after you. Have you thought about whom you have offended?” Or have I offended someone? Luo Qianqian pursed her lips. She had offended a fair number of people, but who could have such capabilities...

”This week, I only beat up one person, had a fight with Class Six last week, and last month with the second-year middle schoolers...” He Wenyu counted on her fingers, ”And yesterday, I threw Sun Xuan’s backpack into the toilet.”

”...You’re going to school to cause trouble, aren’t you? But how come I don’t know about it?” Luo Qianqian frowned, wondering if she had to sift through so many people to find someone capable.

”How would you guys know? I paid the old lady who sells cotton candy to pretend to be my grandma to meet with the teachers. Don’t you give me away,” He Wenyu laughed, then fell silent.

”The key is that Zhuzi has never seen that person as they are now, otherwise it would be easy to have someone follow him,” Luo Qianqian shook her head.

”Qianqian, is it this person?” Luo Shufan suddenly entered his sister’s room without knocking, fortunately, neither of them had the habit of sleeping without clothes on, and they were both neatly dressed in pajamas. When Luo Shufan came in, he saw both of them sitting up, he frowned slightly, ”Why aren’t you lying down? What if you catch a cold?”

”Which person?” Luo Qianqian shook her head, signaling that they were all right, but she was quite unhappy about her brother’s uninvited intrusion.

Looking at the photo on the phone screen, Luo Qianqian was stunned and handed the phone to He Wenyu.

He Wenyu was also taken aback when she saw it.

The person on the screen was undoubtedly He Juncai, even wearing the same clothes they had seen him in that afternoon. However, the difference was that He Juncai’s face was bruised and swollen, tied to a chair, his face unobscured, even his mouth wasn’t taped shut, the clear corridor proving that this was indeed the He Juncai who was acting high and mighty that afternoon.

Luo Qianqian stared at Luo Shufan, making him somewhat embarrassed, he coughed twice, ”Why are you looking at me like that?”

”Who did this? They acted so quickly.” Luo Qianqian knew it couldn’t have been her brother’s doing, otherwise, he wouldn’t be so concerned about her own safety and Xiao Yu’s.

”Cough, cough.” Luo Shufan awkwardly turned his head away, looking towards the door, ”It’s the person I was planning to see tomorrow, who now lives in Xu Tianyi’s old place, just transferred to our school.”

”Impressive, is he like Big Brother Bai?” One of those who make their way in society?

”No.”

”Then is he like Uncle Four?” Respected in the military?

”Also no.”

”Then what is he?”

”He’s just a first-year high school student this year, appears to be an ordinary student.” Luo Shufan had a look of incredulity, he also couldn’t believe the person had such abilities, yet the evidence was right before his eyes.
