I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 245: Chapter 241: I’m Here for Breakfast

Afterward, the two continued to chat and drink.

And their recent conversation had been overheard by all the surrounding customers.

The customers were all very excited.

’So this guy is a head chef from a five-star hotel in the provincial capital. That’s damn impressive!’

’Wait, isn’t this the second head chef from a five-star hotel to eat here?’

’Boss Li is even more impressive.’

This Chef Chen coming to Boss Li for help was definitely the right choice.

The best mapo tofu in the entire country was right here. As long as the boss took action, it wouldn’t matter if it was Yu Hong or some other Hong—they would be utterly and convincingly defeated.

All the customers wanted to see Li You take on that Yu Hong in a culinary showdown.

Unfortunately, Chen Wen had also said that Li You wouldn’t even need to make a move. He just had to get Yu Hong to come here and eat the mapo tofu once, and the man would surely concede defeat on his own.

’That’s kind of a letdown.’

But there was nothing to be done about it. Who could argue when Boss Li’s skills were so clearly superior?

Oh well.

’Seeing a high-level chef admit defeat on his own is actually pretty good too.’

It was still something to look forward to.

The customers broke into a buzz of discussion.

...

Time slowly passed 7:30 p.m., and the sky outside began to darken.

Li You and Chen Wen had eaten and drunk their fill, and their conversation had been quite congenial.

Now, Chen Wen paid the bill, preparing to leave.

After settling the bill, Chen Wen asked, ”Boss Li, do you have the number for a motorcycle taxi driver? Could you give me one? I’ll have a driver come pick me up and take me to town.”

Chen Wen knew that in a small town like this, many people made a living as motorcycle taxi drivers. A restaurant owner like Li You would usually have a driver’s number on hand.

Li You nodded. ”Yes, I’ll give you one.”

’He really does have one.’

Chen Wen smiled and thanked Li You.

Then, Li You gave Chen Wen the number for a motorcycle taxi driver.

Chen Wen thanked him again, then said his goodbyes and left.

The other customers also left one after another. Li You went into the kitchen and started preparing dinner.

Although he had already eaten dinner, thanks to Chen Wen’s invitation, he still had to treat Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru to a meal.

The two of them had helped clear the wasteland all day and refused any pay, so of course he had to treat them to a meal.

Besides, Li You could eat a little more with them.

’Three kilograms of spicy crayfish, three servings of Chopped Pepper Fish Head, and three servings of Cabbage in Clear Broth... that should be about enough.’

Once everything was ready, he brought all the dishes upstairs. Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru were both watching TV.

”Time to eat.”

”Okay.”

”Do you two want something to drink?”

”What about you, Boss? How much did you drink with Chef Chen just now?” both of them asked Li You.

Li You had told them earlier about Chen Wen treating him to food and drinks.

Li You said, ”I had one bowl. If you want to drink, I can have another bowl with you.”

”Okay, let’s have a bowl then,” they both said.

For some reason, even though they had no interest in drinking at home, they always felt like having a little when they were here, especially at night.

The fact that the alcohol here was incredibly delicious was one reason, but it definitely wasn’t the only one.

The three of them drank, ate, and watched TV, making for another pleasant evening.

...

「The next day.」

「8:00 a.m.」

Li You, Ye Shengge, and Ling Xiaoru got up one after another.

After washing up, Li You went downstairs first.

He opened the door for business.

Just as he opened up, Chen Wen arrived again. Seeing Li You, he laughed heartily. ”Boss Li, good morning!”

Li You smiled back. ”Good morning, Master Chen. How did you sleep last night?”

Chen Wen replied, ”Very well. Wenxian Town may be small, but the conditions at the inn are quite good. The room I stayed in last night was 120 yuan a night, but the environment and facilities were on par with a room that would cost three or four hundred yuan in the provincial capital.”

Li You nodded. ”That’s good to hear.”

At that moment, Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru came downstairs together.

Chen Wen was stunned when he saw them.

’These two girls are gorgeous, aren’t they? Especially the taller one. You probably couldn’t find anyone more beautiful even if you searched the entire country.’

’Even with the other one, it wouldn’t be easy to find someone prettier.’

’Two such beautiful women coming downstairs together this early in the morning... what’s the situation here?’

’If it were just one, that would be perfectly normal. But two... Are young people these days living it up like this?’

Chen Wen shot Li You a strange look.

Li You cleared his throat. It was obvious Chen Wen had gotten the wrong idea. He explained, ”Master Chen, you’ve misunderstood. They’re just my upstairs tenants. I have several rooms upstairs, more than I can use by myself, so I rented two of them out. They were just sitting empty anyway, so I figured I might as well rent them out and collect some rent, you know?”

”Is that so?” Chen Wen nodded.

He believed that the two beauties were indeed renting rooms upstairs.

But why would two beautiful women rent rooms here? The reason behind that was probably quite intriguing.

The incredible food here was likely one reason, but it definitely wasn’t the whole story.

Chen Wen looked at Li You and nodded slowly, as if he had understood something.

’This young boss is handsome, tall, and has unfathomably deep culinary skills. It’s no wonder so many girls would be infatuated with him.’

SIGH!

’It’s great to be young!’

Chen Wen lamented inwardly.

Seeing the expression on Chen Wen’s face, Li You knew he was letting his imagination run wild again. He gave a helpless smile and said, ”Master Chen, let me introduce you. These are Miss Ye Shengge and Miss Ling Xiaoru.”

”Miss Ye, Miss Ling, a pleasure to meet you both!” Chen Wen greeted them.

Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru replied in unison, ”Hello, Mr. Chen!”

Then, Chen Wen turned back to Li You. ”Boss Li, I came so early to have breakfast. I’ll have a small bowl of beef noodles and a small bowl of Yangchun Noodles. I heard from Lao He that your two types of noodles are also of an extremely high standard.”

Li You smiled. ”I hope they won’t disappoint you, Master Chen.”

Then he asked Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru, ”What about you two? Noodles, or fermented rice with poached eggs?”

Ye Shengge said, ”I’ll have the fermented rice with poached eggs. Two eggs, please.”

Ling Xiaoru said, ”Me too.”

Li You nodded and told the three to wait a moment. Then he went into the kitchen and started working.

He started cooking the two types of noodles and the fermented rice with poached eggs at the same time.

Soon, a small bowl of beef noodles, a small bowl of Yangchun Noodles, and three servings of fermented rice with poached eggs were all ready.

Li You was also having the fermented rice with poached eggs for himself.

He first brought the small bowl of beef noodles and the small bowl of Yangchun Noodles to Chen Wen.

Upon seeing them, Chen Wen wasn’t surprised, but he still sighed with admiration. ”These two noodle dishes look absolutely delicious.”

Then, he eagerly began to eat.

Both the beef noodles and the Yangchun Noodles left Chen Wen utterly amazed.

Even though he had been mentally prepared, the deliciousness of both noodle dishes still exceeded his imagination.

He had never eaten such delicious beef noodles or Yangchun Noodles before.

’The noodle dishes here are indeed top-tier as well.’

Chen Wen remarked with feeling, ”I never expected Boss Li to have top-tier skills in noodle-making as well.”

Li You replied, ”You misunderstand, Master Chen. I only have some proficiency with these two types of noodles. With other noodle dishes, my skills are just average.”

Chen Wen said, ”Being able to reach the pinnacle with just these two types is more than enough. Our country currently has five Special-Level Pastry Chefs. If we’re only talking about these two noodle dishes, I estimate that not even those five Special-Level Pastry Chefs could compare to you, Boss Li.”

Li You quickly replied with humility, ”The skills of each of the five Special-Level Pastry Chefs are unfathomable. I would never dare to compare myself to them.”

Chen Wen said, ”You’re being too modest, Boss Li.”

Li You waved his hand, indicating that he wasn’t being modest.
