I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 215: Chapter 211: The Great Director Brings the Entire Crew for a Meal

After that, they continued eating the fish and rice.

The two of them slowly finished the large basin of fish. Ling Xiaoru ate two bowls of rice, while Li You had three.

They were completely full.

Ling Xiaoru said her goodbyes. She needed to get back. She still had commissions to work on at home.

Li You said, ”Once I get my hands on some chopped peppers, I’ll invite you over for Chopped Pepper Fish Head.”

”Okay!” Ling Xiaoru was delighted.

After that, Ling Xiaoru left.

Li You went to his vegetable patch, ready to plant some of the vegetable seeds the system had rewarded him with yesterday: stem lettuce, peas, eggplant, edamame, okra, and cauliflower.

Generally, it was best to sprout seeds in a nursery first. After the seeds sprouted, the seedlings would then be transplanted.

However, planting them directly without sprouting was also an option.

Especially with high-quality seeds.

And the seeds rewarded by the system were, without a doubt, all exceptionally high-quality.

So, Li You chose not to use a nursery and planted them directly instead.

This would save him the step of transplanting seedlings later.

’As long as it doesn’t affect the quality, I should definitely do it the simplest way possible, right?’

While Li You was busy in his field, several commercial vans pulled into the parking lot.

A large group of people, both men and women, got out of the vehicles. There were over forty of them in total.

One of them laughed heartily and said, ”We’re finally here! This is the place.”

The others all looked around curiously.

After looking around for a moment, someone said, ”Director Wei, the scenery here is indeed quite nice. But is that restaurant really the best in the country? It just doesn’t look like it, no matter how you look at it!”

”Director Wei, do they really have the best food and the best wine here?”

”...”

The ”Director Wei” everyone was talking about was the director, Wei Yang. He was also the one who had just laughed so heartily.

This was a film crew.

For the past while, the crew had been filming at a studio in the neighboring Qian Province, the Southwest Film and Television Base.

Not long ago, when the crew first arrived at the Southwest Film and Television Base, the head director, Wei Yang, started longing for Li You’s restaurant.

Because the distance from the Southwest Film and Television Base to Li You’s restaurant was just over 600 kilometers, which wasn’t considered too far anymore.

This was also the closest film studio to Li You Restaurant.

Wei Yang had told the entire crew to work hard and film well, and once they were halfway through their scenes at the studio, he would treat everyone to a meal at the best restaurant in the country. A place with the best food and the best wine.

Although all the crew members thought Wei Yang was using hyperbole, they were still quite excited!

An invitation to a meal from the head director, even if it was just for a bowl of noodles at a random roadside stall, was something to look forward to.

Yesterday, the crew finally passed the halfway point of their filming at the Southwest Film and Television Base. Wei Yang informed everyone to gather at six this morning to head to the restaurant he’d mentioned, to eat the best food and drink the best wine.

The entire crew, including the assistant director, cinematographers, production assistants, actors, and so on, were all a bit surprised.

’Why do we have to leave so early? Is the restaurant that far away? Since it’s so far, why is Director Wei taking us there?’

’Everyone would have been perfectly happy if Director Wei just picked any random place to treat us!’

The crew members were all confused. Someone asked Wei Yang if the restaurant was very far. Why go to such a distant place to eat?

Wei Yang said, ”Because the food there is the best, and the wine is the best. It’s a bit far, but after you’ve been, you’ll definitely thank me for taking you.”

’Really?’

All the crew members were skeptical, but they were also secretly looking forward to it!

Wei Yang was a connoisseur of fine food and wine, and he had said as much. And it wasn’t the first time he’d claimed the food and wine there were the best.

In that case, the stuff there must have something special about it.

That was definitely something to look forward to!

At six o’clock this morning, everyone gathered and set off in several commercial vans.

They drove on, and at 11:30 in the morning, the vehicles exited the highway. Everyone thought they were about to arrive.

But who would have known the vans would then drive for nearly two more hours on a winding county road.

They still hadn’t arrived.

All the crew members watched the scenery outside the windows, murmuring to themselves, ’Where on earth is Director Wei taking us?’

’We originally thought that even if it wasn’t in a big city, it would at least be in a county seat, right? But it’s not even a county seat; we’re just getting more and more remote.’

They reached a small town. According to their phone maps, it was called Wenxian Town.

’It’s a nice name, but it’s just too remote.’

What was even more baffling was that the vans showed no signs of stopping. Instead, they skirted the edge of town and turned onto an even narrower road.

’This has to be a country road, right?’

’Just how remote is this restaurant?’

All the crew members grumbled even more in their hearts.

Fortunately, not long after turning onto this country road, they finally arrived.

It was already two in the afternoon.

From six in the morning until two in the afternoon—a full eight-hour drive.

Spending a full eight hours to come eat at such a remote restaurant, many of them thought they must have been crazy today.

This was especially true for a few of the more famous young actors who could be called celebrities.

However, none of them let it show on their faces. Especially not after seeing the excited look on Wei Yang’s face.

Wei Yang was genuinely excited. He could finally eat the delicious food and drink the fine wine here again.

He was finally back at the place he had been longing for.

The crew members didn’t understand why they had to come all this way just to eat.

Wei Yang could understand their confusion. However, he didn’t plan on explaining too much right now.

Because he had already said what needed to be said. Until they tasted the food for themselves, more words would be useless.

So, Wei Yang simply said, ”Is the food here the best? Is the wine here the best? You’ll have your answer in a bit. Let’s go.”

The crew members all nodded.

The group walked toward the restaurant.

A few of the celebrity actors had been wondering if they should go ”fully armed” after getting out of the vans.

’We’re celebrities, after all. If we run into fans or something, wouldn’t it cause a commotion?’

But now, the celebrity actors felt it was unnecessary. In a place like this, where there wasn’t a soul in sight, the restaurant probably didn’t have a single customer either. ’So what’s the point of gearing up?’

The group slowly walked to the restaurant’s entrance.

Wei Yang’s eyes lit up when he saw Li You busy in the vegetable garden. He walked up and laughed heartily, ”Proprietor, tending to your vegetables, I see. Long time no see! Old Wei is back again.”

Seeing Wei Yang act like this, the crew members were all a little stunned.

’Is that young man the owner of this place?’

’I didn’t expect the owner to be so young. Is he growing his own ingredients?’

’Now that’s a rare sight.’

Of course, that wasn’t what truly stunned the crew. It was Wei Yang’s attitude.

You have to understand, Wei Yang was one of the most famous directors in the country, with more than enough status and prestige. Facing a restaurant owner, he could have easily put on airs.

But right now, Wei Yang was acting just like he was greeting an old friend, his posture incredibly humble.

’Even though Director Wei isn’t usually pretentious, he’s still a huge name. Shouldn’t he maintain at least a little bit of decorum?’

This was what the crew members, especially the young celebrity actors, were thinking.
