I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 236: Chapter 232: Gourmet Food, Fine Wine, and Delicious Wild Fruit

After that, Li You excused himself, leaving the film crew to their meal.

The guests at the other two tables in the restaurant decided to settle their bills.

They had seen what they came to see, so it was time to leave.

After all, they had finished their meals long ago.

With them gone, word that Zhang Hongyi’s film crew was eating here was bound to spread through town.

The crew continued to eat and drink, taking their time with the food and wine.

Even by four in the afternoon, they still hadn’t finished.

Ye Shengge had already returned, carrying a bag with about a dozen black tigers.

Ye Shengge showed the bag to Li You. ”Boss, look how many more I picked!”

Li You nodded. ”Just set them down. We can eat them whenever.”

Ye Shengge took one from the bag and handed it to Li You. ”Here, have one now,” she added.

Li You accepted it with a ”Thank you.”

Then he broke off a segment and began to eat.

Ye Shengge took one for herself and started eating as well. ”Why are there still so many people eating at this hour?” she asked as she ate.

Li You said, ”It’s a film crew from the Southwest Film and Television Base.”

”Oh? Another film crew?” Ye Shengge’s interest was piqued. ”Who’s the director? And who are the main actors?”

Li You replied, ”The director is Zhang Hongyi. The leads are Yu Hai and Liu ZeLin, among others.”

Ye Shengge said, ”Oh, Zhang Hongyi. He’s not bad, quite talented. More and more film crews are coming here to eat. This is getting interesting.”

Li You said, ”I expect we’ll see more and more of them. I think word about my restaurant is starting to spread in the entertainment industry.”

Ye Shengge said, ”It’s only a matter of time. We’ll be seeing more and more celebrities around here.”

Li You said, ”No matter what kind of celebrity they are, they’re just customers here.”

Ye Shengge nodded. ”Of course.”

The two of them continued to eat their black tigers, chatting casually.

Yu Hai stepped out of the restaurant.

He was stuffed and decided to take a short walk to aid his digestion.

When he saw Ye Shengge, a look of utter astonishment flashed in his eyes.

’Who is this woman? She’s gorgeous! You couldn’t find anyone this beautiful in the entire entertainment industry!’

’And the difference is huge.’

’Is she the owner’s girlfriend? He’s one lucky man!’

Yu Hai was incredibly envious.

’And what are they eating? Is it some kind of fruit? It looks so strange. I’ve never seen anything like it.’

’I should ask.’

So, Yu Hai called out, ”Boss, what are you two eating? I’ve never seen that before.”

Li You smiled. ”It’s a wild fruit we call a ’black tiger’ around here. You rarely see them in stores, so it’s perfectly normal that you haven’t seen one, Mr. Yu.”

”’Black tiger?’ Yu Hai said. ’What a strange name. The fruit doesn’t seem to have anything to do with a tiger!’”

Li You said, ”That’s often the case with names for wild fruit. Would you like to try some, Mr. Yu? It tastes pretty good.”

”Really? May I?” Yu Hai was delighted. ”Well, don’t mind if I do! Thank you, Boss!”

Yu Hai wasn’t just being polite; he was genuinely eager to taste it.

He was naturally curious about a fruit he had never seen before.

Li You glanced at Ye Shengge. Understanding his intent, she took a black tiger from the bag and handed it to Yu Hai.

Yu Hai accepted it with a ”Thank you.”

He then broke off a segment, peeled it, and took a bite.

He had already figured out how to eat it from watching Li You and Ye Shengge.

After finishing the bite and spitting out the seed, Yu Hai said, ”This isn’t bad at all, quite tasty. It’s juicy with a sweet, fragrant flavor. Just a bit seedy.”

Li You nodded with a smile. ”The seeds are its main drawback. But thankfully, each segment is large enough that there’s still plenty to eat.”

Yu Hai nodded. ”That’s true. I’ll take this inside for the others to try. I bet most of them have never had it either.”

Li You said, ”Good idea. But one isn’t enough for everyone. Miss Ye...”

Before he could finish, Ye Shengge nodded, handing the entire bag to Yu Hai. ”Just take them all,” she said.

Yu Hai waved his hands frantically. ”No, no, that’s too much! Thank you, Miss Ye, thank you, Boss. But really, there’s no need. You should keep them for yourselves.”

He had heard Li You call her ”Miss Ye,” so he addressed her the same way.

’But if the owner calls her ’Miss Ye,’ does that mean she’s not his girlfriend?’

The thought crossed Yu Hai’s mind again.

Still, even if they weren’t dating, their relationship was clearly something special. Anyone with eyes could see that.

Just then, Li You said, ”Please, Mr. Yu, don’t be so modest. Just take them. There are a lot of you, and one won’t be nearly enough to go around. As for us, we can just go pick more from the mountain whenever we want. There’s plenty up there.”

”Well...” After a moment’s hesitation, Yu Hai said, ”In that case, thank you, Boss. And thank you, Miss Ye.”

He reached out and took the bag from Ye Shengge, thanked them once more, and then carried the bag back into the restaurant.

”Hey everyone, look at this fruit! Anyone know what it is?”

Yu Hai held up the black tigers for everyone to see.

Most of them shook their heads, indicating they’d never seen it.

However, one person spoke up. ”Isn’t that a black tiger? Those are incredibly rare. Yu Hai, where did you get it?”

So, someone did recognize it.

Yu Hai smiled. ”It is indeed a black tiger. The owner and Miss Ye just gave them to me. They said it’s a wild fruit. I just tried some, and it’s pretty good. Anyone want to try?”

”Miss Ye? Who’s Miss Ye?” That was the first thing everyone focused on.

”Miss Ye is a young lady, of course. You’ll see her if you step outside.”

”Fair enough.”

”Black tiger? What a weird name. Let me try some. I’ve never seen one of these before.”

”I want to try some, too. It looks really tasty.”

”Is it a wild fruit? No wonder I’ve never seen it in any stores.”

”They do sell them. I’ve seen them once. But yeah, they’re extremely rare.”

”I’ve had it once before. It’s pretty good—juicy and sweet. Give me some, too. You can’t just buy this fruit whenever you want. Since we have the chance, we’ve got to try it.”

”Besides the incredible food and wine, this place even has rare wild fruits you can’t find anywhere else. This is truly a magical place.”

”I’ve definitely got to try a rare wild fruit like this. Give me some, too.”

”...”

Every member of the crew, including the director Zhang Hongyi, said they wanted to try some.

To follow up a meal of supreme delicacies and fine wine with a rare wild fruit—it was simply perfect.

This was the kind of fruit you couldn’t get at other restaurants or hotels, not even at the most high-end, famous establishments.

You could probably only find it here, at a restaurant situated deep in the mountains.

Since everyone wanted some, Yu Hai took all the black tigers out of the bag for them to share.

The fruit could be broken off segment by segment, which made it easy to share.

Soon, everyone had at least one segment in their hand.

They peeled the skin and popped the fruit into their mouths.

After trying it, everyone nodded in agreement. It was indeed quite good. Although it was a bit seedy, that didn’t detract from its deliciousness.

Overall, it was excellent.

They were grateful to the owner for letting them try the black tigers and discover a new fruit.

”I’ll have some more.”

”Me too, give me some more.”

”...”

Everyone wanted another piece.

The dozen or so black tigers were quickly divided up and devoured.

Everyone was thoroughly satisfied after they had finished.

Incredible food, fine wine, and delicious wild fruit—they were growing to like this place more and more.
