I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

While feeling relieved, all the members of the film crew were also incredibly excited and thrilled.

They never expected that coming here today would lead them to see Guyi’s latest masterpiece. This was undoubtedly a stroke of great luck.

They were luckier than countless others.

So it was a piece by Guyi. No wonder that even though they knew nothing about art, they could tell at first glance that the painting was something special.

He Wenqing, in particular, was ecstatic. He had only known the artist was no ordinary person; he never imagined it would be Guyi himself.

Guyi has a new piece in circulation. Once word of this slowly gets out, it’s sure to pique the interest of countless people.

This restaurant is going to get a lot busier from now on.

But after the initial excitement, a question arose in the minds of He Wenqing and the rest of the crew: Why was Director Wei so certain from the very beginning that Master Guyi had actually come here?

’Was it because of the food and wine here?’

’Just what kind of food and wine could make Wei Yang believe it instantly? And what kind could attract even Master Guyi?’

In that moment, the entire film crew, including He Wenqing, was filled with a curiosity and anticipation unlike any they had ever felt.

Just then, Wei Yang began to order. When he learned that braised chicken and braised chicken feet had been added to the menu since his last visit, he was pleasantly surprised and excited. He eagerly asked, ”Boss, how much braised chicken and how many chicken feet do you have left?”

Li You replied, ”There are 11 braised chickens left, and about a hundred or so chicken feet.”

Wei Yang said, ”We’ll take all of them. Also, give us 50 jin of spicy crayfish. And ten portions each of Cabbage in Consommé, Mapo Tofu, Twice-Cooked Pork with Garlic Sprouts, Crucian Carp with Agastache, and Stir-Fried Shredded Potatoes. That should be all for now. Thanks, Boss.”

Li You nodded. ”You’re too kind, Director Wei. I’ll have Da Bai bring out the braised chicken and chicken feet first so you all can start eating. The other dishes will be ready soon.”

”Great, great,” Wei Yang nodded again and again.

Afterward, Li You went into the kitchen and started cooking.

Meanwhile, Da Bai began to carve the braised chicken.

Wei Yang then turned to Xiaohai. ”Xiaohai, could you please get me a bowl of wine to start?”

”Of course, one moment,” Xiaohai replied.

He then began to ladle out the wine.

Wei Yang then addressed his crew again. ”Anyone who wants wine, just ask Xiaohai to get you a bowl. I recommend everyone drink, except for the few who are driving. The boss’s wine is the best in the world. You absolutely can’t get it anywhere else, no matter how much money you’re willing to spend.”

The crew members all nodded. Even if Wei Yang hadn’t said anything, they had already decided to try the wine.

And so, everyone except for the designated drivers called out for wine.

This included the women in the group.

They might not drink regularly, but they could all hold their liquor if they chose to.

Even the designated drivers desperately wanted a taste, but it couldn’t be helped. They had to force themselves to resist.

Soon, a bowl of wine was set before everyone except the designated drivers.

Wei Yang impatiently lifted his bowl and took a sip. An unprecedented feeling of pure bliss washed over him.

’This is the stuff. I’ve finally had this wine again.’

Then, Wei Yang said to his crew, ”Go on, everyone, drink up! See for yourselves what real fine wine tastes like.”

The crew members exchanged glances. ’Drinking before any of the food has arrived?’

’Oh well, might as well have a taste. The aroma is just too tempting anyway.’

And so, everyone lifted their bowls and took a sip.

That one sip brought a wave of unprecedented, unbelievable surprise.

’How can such an exquisite wine exist in this world?’

No wonder Director Wei had said, time and again, that this place had the best-tasting wine in the world. No wonder he’d brought them all this way just to eat and drink here. And no wonder even Master Guyi was drawn to this place.

For a wine this divine, it was only natural that Master Guyi would be drawn to it.

Master Guyi’s comment that this wine ”could only be found in the heavens” was spot on.

This wine truly felt like the Jade Dew of the heavens.

Seeing their expressions, Wei Yang couldn’t help but laugh heartily. ”Well? Do you still think the trip here was too long?”

”Not far! Not far at all!” everyone, including He Wenqing, exclaimed.

At this point, they truly didn’t feel the journey was long at all.

Even if the food turned out to be merely average, the trip was absolutely worth it for the wine alone.

Over 600 kilometers?

Not far at all.

”Director Wei, thank you so much for bringing us here,” many of them said to Wei Yang. ”Otherwise, we might never have known that the best wine in the world was right here.”

Wei Yang roared with laughter. ”This place doesn’t just have the best wine, it also has the best food. You’ll all see in a minute. Xiaodai, Xiaozhu, Xiaoliu, since you can’t drink, make sure you eat your fill later. As for the wine, you can always come back on your own. My apologies to you three for this time.”

Xiaodai, Xiaozhu, and Xiaoliu were the designated drivers, and they were indeed itching with temptation. But hearing Wei Yang’s words, they quickly assured him it was no problem at all.

The other patrons in the restaurant saw the film crew’s reaction to the wine and also laughed, thoroughly amused.

They enjoyed watching first-timers react with disbelief and excitement to the restaurant’s food and wine.

Especially when those people were famous actors they had previously only seen on screen.

It was a great feeling.

Just then, Da Bai brought over the carved braised chicken and the braised chicken feet.

Wei Yang quickly beckoned to everyone. ”The braised chicken and chicken feet are here! Everybody, dig in. This is my first time trying them here, too. But I’m sure they’ll be the best braised chicken and chicken feet you’ve ever had. Let’s eat, let’s eat!”

With that, Wei Yang was the first to grab a piece of braised chicken and take a bite.

With that first bite, only one thought crossed his mind: ’Just as I expected.’ He knew the braised chicken here would be the best in the world.

Seeing Wei Yang’s reaction, the rest of the crew didn’t hesitate, each grabbing a piece of chicken or a chicken foot and digging in.

Once again, everyone was overcome with surprise and excitement.

They were all familiar with braised chicken and chicken feet, having eaten them often, but this was a flavor beyond anything they had ever experienced.

This truly was the best braised chicken and chicken feet they’d ever had.

At least, none of them had ever tasted braised chicken and chicken feet this good before.

’This place might actually be the best restaurant in the entire country.’

The entire crew recalled Director Wei’s earlier assessment of the restaurant.

Now, no one believed he had been using hyperbole.

At the same time, their anticipation for the dishes yet to come grew to an unprecedented level.

’The chicken and chicken feet are this good... will the other dishes be the same?’

They ate, drank, and waited.

A short while later, 50 jin of spicy crayfish were brought out, piled high on several large platters.

This time, without any prompting from Director Wei, everyone immediately reached for the crayfish.

Seeing this, Wei Yang didn’t bother saying a word. He just reached for the crayfish himself.

Everyone began to feast on the crayfish.

With the exception of Wei Yang, everyone was once again overcome with surprise and excitement.

These spicy crayfish were far more delicious than even the best they had ever had before.

This was true culinary artistry.

’To be able to create food like this... this young owner’s culinary skill is simply unfathomable.’

’Having such profound skill at his age is just incredible.’

The entire crew was deeply moved.

Soon after, the Cabbage in Consommé, Mapo Tofu, Twice-Cooked Pork with Garlic Sprouts, Crucian Carp with Agastache, and Stir-Fried Shredded Potatoes were also brought to the table.

With every new dish that arrived, the crew’s excitement grew.

Each dish was so delicious it defied description.

Every single one was a supreme delicacy the likes of which they had never tasted.

From a high-end, famous dish like Cabbage in Consommé to a simple, common homestyle dish like Stir-Fried Shredded Potatoes, everything was a masterpiece.

At that moment, the entire crew was more certain than ever: this truly was the best restaurant in the entire country.

It really did have the best wine and the best food. Director Wei’s earlier claims hadn’t been an exaggeration in the slightest.

Traveling over 600 kilometers to get here had been completely and utterly worth it.
