I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 237: Chapter 233: A Piece of Raw Cucumber for Everyone in the Film Crew

After finishing the delicious wild fruit, they continued eating the other dishes and drinking.

A short while later, all the food had been eaten and all the wine had been drunk.

Everyone was stuffed.

Although they hadn’t quite had their fill and wanted to order more, they simply couldn’t eat another bite.

They had no choice but to stop.

But that was fine. They could just come back next time. After all, they would definitely be eating here a lot more in the future.

One by one, they got up, planning to go outside for a walk and to stretch their legs.

As soon as they stepped out of the restaurant, both the men and the women were stunned by the sight of Ye Shengge.

’So this must be the ”Miss Ye” Yu Hai was talking about?’ they all thought. ’She’s gorgeous. I can’t believe the boss has such a beautiful woman here. Is she his girlfriend?’

This was a common thought among them.

”Boss, Miss Ye, thank you for treating us to the black tiger fruit. It was delicious! Besides, it’s not the kind of fruit you can find just anywhere.”

”Even though the black tiger fruit is a wild fruit, it’s incredibly rare. I think it’s rarer than most other fruits.”

”This is my first time eating this kind of fruit. Another new fruit to add to my life’s experiences. Thank you, Boss and Miss Ye!”

”...”

The group showered Li You and Ye Shengge with thanks.

Li You and Ye Shengge both told everyone not to be so formal.

At the same time, Li You thought to himself, ’It seems these city folks are quite fascinated by wild fruit. Maybe I could clear out a spot next to the Hundred Fruit Garden and start a wild fruit orchard? I could gather all the wild fruit from this area and put them there. In the future, customers could not only visit and look around, but also taste the wild fruit. I have a feeling that would be very appealing to people from the city.’

Li You mulled over the idea.

He quickly came to a decision: he would build a wild fruit orchard.

’A wild fruit orchard feels even more unique than the Hundred Fruit Garden, and it fits this location better.’

’A restaurant in the mountains... how can it not have wild fruit?’

’Why didn’t I think of this before?’

’Well, it’s not too late to think of it now. I’ll get started on it tomorrow.’

Li You felt a strange sense of excitement at the prospect of starting something new.

”Wow, there’s such a big vegetable garden here, this is great! It feels really nice!”

Just then, the film crew’s attention shifted to the vegetable garden next to them.

They gathered around the edge of the garden.

”Boss, did you grow all these vegetables yourself?” someone asked.

Li You nodded. ”Grew them all myself.”

”The boss is an expert at growing vegetables, too!” Everyone gave him a thumbs-up.

This was because every type of vegetable in the garden was growing exceptionally well and bearing plenty of produce.

The tomatoes, for example, were clustered together, covering the entire plant. They just weren’t ripe yet; they were all still green.

However, a few were already showing hints of red. They should be ripe soon.

’Once they ripen, they’re sure to taste amazing.’

There was no reason for it, just a feeling. A feeling that they would be absolutely delicious.

The same went for the cucumbers.

Not only were they growing well, but they also looked like they would be delicious even when eaten raw.

’Besides, some of those cucumbers must be ripe and ready to eat, right?’

They looked very tempting.

A long-haired girl spoke up, ”Boss, are these cucumbers for sale? I’d like to buy one to eat raw. They look like they’d be really good.”

Li You smiled. ”Just go ahead and pick one to eat. No need to talk about money.”

It was just one cucumber; Li You was happy to treat a customer for free.

Even if other customers said they wanted one too, he would treat them for free as well.

The long-haired girl said, ”Boss, I couldn’t possibly!”

Li You said, ”It’s just a cucumber, really, don’t worry about it. Just pick one and eat it. If anyone else wants one, they can go ahead and pick one too. It’s not anything valuable, so there’s no need for any of you to be so polite.”

Although it might not be very valuable, it was still the product of hard work. The long-haired girl insisted that she should pay for it.

But Li You was firm about not taking any money.

In the end, the long-haired girl said, ”Well, thank you very much, Boss. In that case, I’ll go pick one.”

Li You nodded. ”Pick whichever one you like.”

After thanking him again, the long-haired girl stepped into the garden and picked a cucumber.

Li You had the system check the quality of that cucumber.

”Ingredient: Cucumber.”

”Quality: Superior.”

Superior quality. The long-haired girl had good luck. Li You had been hoping she would pick one of superior quality.

That way, she would be even more delighted.

The long-haired girl walked out of the garden patch holding the cucumber.

Li You pointed to a nearby faucet and said, ”The water there is potable, you can wash it.”

Li You himself ate them without washing, as did Ye Shengge and Ling Xiaoru.

But some people were more particular and wanted to wash them before eating. Li You still wanted to provide good service.

The long-haired girl thanked Li You and said, ”I was originally going to eat it without washing. But since there’s water, I might as well give it a rinse.”

After speaking, she walked to the faucet and washed the cucumber. Then she turned to another woman and said, ”Sister Ya, do you want some? We can split it.”

The woman called ”Sister Ya” was named Xiao Ya. She heard this and nodded. ”Sure! It looks like it’ll be delicious.”

The long-haired girl broke the cucumber in two and handed one half to Xiao Ya.

Xiao Ya reached out and took it.

Then, they both started eating at the same time.

Soon, looks of pleasant surprise appeared on both their faces.

The long-haired girl said, ”It really is delicious. It’s so crisp and juicy. And that unique, fresh scent of cucumber is so strong. This is the first time I’ve ever had a raw cucumber that tastes this good.”

Xiao Ya also said, ”It’s exceptionally good, even better than I imagined. I’ve never eaten such a delicious raw cucumber before.”

Hearing them say this and seeing how crisply and refreshingly they were eating, more people swallowed hard.

They wanted to try one, too.

So they all said to Li You, ”Boss, we want to try one too.”

Li You smiled. ”Anyone who wants one, go ahead and pick one. Don’t be shy.”

”There are so many of us, we’ll probably pick ten or twenty. For that many, we really should pay.”

They all insisted on paying.

Earlier, the long-haired girl had only picked one, so not paying was understandable. But now they were going to pick ten or twenty; it would be too shameless not to pay.

Li You still refused the money. ”Everyone, really, don’t worry about it. Pick as many as you like. Even if you pick all the ripe ones, it’s no problem.”

Seeing Li You’s insistence, the group could only thank him repeatedly before heading into the vegetable garden one after another.

Yu Hai included.

Yu Hai didn’t normally have a habit of eating raw cucumbers, nor did he think they were particularly tasty.

But now, perhaps because he saw how much the two women were enjoying them, he couldn’t help but want to try one himself.

After picking a cucumber and coming out of the garden, Yu Hai walked up to Director Zhang Hongyi and said, ”Director Zhang, want some? I’ll give you half.”

Zhang Hongyi nodded with a smile. ”Then I’ll have a taste. The boss’s cucumbers do look quite delicious.”

Yu Hai nodded. He walked to the faucet, rinsed the cucumber, then broke off half and handed it to Zhang Hongyi.

At that moment, the rest of the people who had gone into the garden had each picked a cucumber.

There were about fifteen of them.

After washing their cucumbers, they all split them in half, or even gave away two-thirds.

Soon, every single person in the film crew had a piece of cucumber in their hand.

Everyone said they wanted to eat it.

Even those who didn’t normally like cucumbers said they wanted to try it now.

It wasn’t to fit in; in the atmosphere of the moment, they genuinely wanted to know what it tasted like.

The entire film crew, starting with Director Zhang Hongyi, was holding a piece of raw cucumber.

The scene was both comical and quite interesting.

If word of this got out in the entertainment industry, it would probably make a lot of people chuckle.

Yu Hai found it amusing too. He then took out his phone and, while taking pictures, said, ”This is a great scene, I have to capture it.”

When the others heard this, some had strange expressions, while others deliberately showed off their half-cucumber to the camera.

It really was a very interesting sight!

”Director Zhang, want me to get a close-up of you?” Yu Hai said with a laugh.

”Get lost,” Zhang Hongyi scolded good-naturedly.

Yu Hai laughed out loud and went on to take close-ups of other people.
