I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 227: Chapter 223: Boss, You’re Going to Taste-Test It Yourself? You Might as Well Let Us Try It for You

The customers all greeted Ye Shengge.

Ye Shengge smiled in return.

Then, the customers went inside to order and eat.

Li You went into the kitchen and got busy.

Time slowly passed. By seven-thirty in the evening, after serving the last of the customers’ orders, Li You started preparing the food for his drinks with Ye Shengge.

Ye Shengge had said it was her treat, but she let Li You decide on the menu.

Since Ye Shengge was treating, Li You certainly wasn’t going to hold back.

He knew by now that Ye Shengge’s wealth was unfathomable.

’First, Chopped Pepper Fish Head. One serving definitely won’t be enough. Let’s do six. Three for each of us.’

As for the price, Li You had already decided: 48 yuan per serving.

This price was very cheap. But for Li You, it was enough.

’Besides the Chopped Pepper Fish Head, I’ll make about eight pounds of spicy crayfish.’

With these two dishes, it should be enough.

He started with the Chopped Pepper Fish Head. The method was the same as last night.

Before long, all six servings of Chopped Pepper Fish Head were ready.

The rich fragrance quickly wafted out of the kitchen.

At this time, there were still two tables of customers eating in the main hall.

They quickly smelled the aroma.

The aroma was potent, assaulting their senses. Though they were nearly full, it instantly made them feel hungry all over again.

And it was an aroma they didn’t seem to have smelled before.

”Boss, what dish are you making? It smells so good!” the customers asked one after another.

Li You walked out of the kitchen and said with a smile, ”This is a new dish I’m preparing to launch tomorrow.”

A new dish?

’No wonder they’d never smelled this before. It seems everyone’s noses are pretty sharp.’

So, what was the new dish?

All the customers were very interested and asked in unison, ”Boss, what’s the new dish?”

Li You didn’t keep them in suspense and said directly, ”Chopped Pepper Fish Head.”

People might not eat this dish often, and some might have never had it before, but everyone has definitely heard of it.

This was exactly the case for the customers.

A customer who had never eaten it before said, ”This dish is very famous. It’s from Hunan cuisine, right? But I’ve never had it.”

A customer who had eaten it before said, ”I’ve had it, and it’s delicious. But I’m sure the boss’s Chopped Pepper Fish Head is even better. No, it’s bound to be the best.”

”That’s right. Since the boss is launching Chopped Pepper Fish Head, from now on, the best Chopped Pepper Fish Head in the whole country will be right here. Even people from Xiang Province will have to travel from far and wide to come here if they want to eat the best.”

”Haha! That’s right, that’s exactly it.”

”The more I think about it, the more exciting it gets!”

”...”

The customers all expressed this sentiment.

Given the track record of his previous dishes, the customers were all convinced that any new dish Li You launched would be the best in the entire country, no matter what it was.

Of course, this might be a bit of an exaggeration. But the customers were happy to believe it.

Even being conservative, it was at least highly probable.

The customers got inexplicably excited just thinking about how, for dishes from other regional cuisines, people from those respective provinces would have to travel from far and wide just to eat the best version here.

Caught up in the excitement, they all suddenly wanted to try the boss’s Chopped Pepper Fish Head.

Those who had eaten it before were eager to find out just how much better the boss’s version would be.

And those who had never eaten it before were even more eager to try this famous dish they had long heard of by name.

For them, their first time trying it would be the best in the country. This undoubtedly made them even more excited.

Thus, the customers asked one after another, ”Boss, how much is a serving of Chopped Pepper Fish Head?”

”Boss, you made this now because you’re planning to test the dish yourself, right? Instead of testing it yourself, why not let us try it?”

”That’s right, that’s right. Boss, hurry and bring your Chopped Pepper Fish Head over. We’ll help you test it.”

”Our table wants a serving too.”

”...”

The customers at both tables said they wanted a serving.

This was something Li You had not anticipated.

However, Li You was very happy that the customers were so interested and supportive. He said, ”Thank you, thank you all very much for your support. Chopped Pepper Fish Head is 48 yuan per serving.”

At 48 yuan a serving, the price was quite cheap. After all, in any decent restaurant, it would cost at least one or two hundred yuan.

The boss’s prices were so reasonable.

The customers urged Li You to bring a serving to each of their tables.

But then they heard Li You continue, ”I’m very happy that everyone is so supportive. To show my gratitude, tonight’s on me. One serving per table, please help me test the dish.”

After hearing this, the customers were all pleasantly surprised. They all laughed heartily and said, ”The boss is so generous! In that case, we won’t stand on ceremony!”

”Thank you, Boss. We’re very honored to be able to test the dish for you.”

”...”

Li You told the customers there was no need to be so formal. Then he turned, walked into the kitchen, picked up two servings of Chopped Pepper Fish Head, and delivered one to each table.

After seeing the Chopped Pepper Fish Head, the customers thanked him even more profusely, their hearts filled with greater anticipation.

Chopped Pepper Fish Head was already an appealing-looking dish, but the boss’s version was so mouth-watering it was hard to look at.

All the customers couldn’t wait to pick up their chopsticks and start eating.

With the first bite, everyone became even more excited.

Because every bite was tender, savory, and spicy—a deliciousness that was simply beyond words.

The ones who had eaten it before exclaimed excitedly, ”As expected, it’s so, so much better than what I’ve had before. This is definitely the best Chopped Pepper Fish Head in the country. You can’t even find one this good in Xiang Province.”

Those who hadn’t eaten it before said, ”I don’t know what other Chopped Pepper Fish Heads taste like, but this one from the boss is just too delicious. I can’t believe my first time trying this dish is the best in the country. This is awesome!”

The customers heaped praise upon it, giving it extremely high ratings.

Li You was extremely happy, but he replied humbly, ”Please, you all mustn’t say that. The country is full of masters and hidden talents. No dish from anywhere can dare to claim it’s the best in the country.”

After hearing this, the customers chimed in again, ”That may be so, but you’re being too humble, Boss.”

”Even if we don’t say this Chopped Pepper Fish Head is absolutely the best in the country, it’s at least highly probable that it is. No need to be humble, Boss. You’ve got the skills.”

”Yeah, Boss. You’ve got the skills.”

”...”

Li You laughed and said, ”Let’s be modest, let’s be modest.”

The customers also laughed, ”Haha! Alright, modest, modest.”

A table of customers quickly finished their serving of Chopped Pepper Fish Head. They had even eaten a good amount of the chopped peppers.

It was spicy, of course, but it was an addicting kind of spicy.

As for the fish head, they were left wanting more, not having had nearly enough.

However, the customers didn’t ask for another serving.

It was the boss’s treat. If they asked for another, the boss most likely wouldn’t charge for that one either. That would be too embarrassing.

’We’ll just wait until tomorrow to eat it again.’

At 48 yuan a serving, they certainly couldn’t afford it every day. But for tomorrow, it was definitely worth it.

The customers were all looking forward to it. After chatting with Li You for a while longer, they all paid their bills and left.

Before smelling the aroma of the Chopped Pepper Fish Head, they had already more or less finished their meals.

If it weren’t for the Chopped Pepper Fish Head, they would have finished eating, paid, and left long ago.

The sky outside was about to turn completely dark.
