I Have a Countryside Gourmet Restaurant

Chapter 235: Chapter 231: Boss, Will You Offer Longjing Shrimp in the Future?

So, what the people from Wei Yang’s film crew said was all true.

The wine here really was incredible. To say it was the best in the country was actually quite plausible.

Who would have thought that the best wine in the country could be found in a small, remote shop tucked away in the mountains?

If word of this got out, no one would believe it!

Everyone from the crew, including Zhang Hongyi and Yu Hai, was overcome with emotion.

Meanwhile, the other customers in the shop were all feeling smugly satisfied.

They’d seen the film crew’s reaction to the wine, and it was just as they’d expected. It was a very satisfying feeling.

’Good, good, keep it up.’

Just then, Da Bai finished chopping up the ten braised chickens and brought them out to the customers along with the braised chicken feet.

The moment they saw the braised chicken and chicken feet, every member of the film crew eagerly reached for a piece of chicken or a chicken foot.

The wine had already proven that Wei Yang’s crew had been telling the truth.

That meant the food here must also be super delicious. Perhaps even the best in the country.

And that was, without a doubt, something to look forward to.

So, the moment they saw the braised chicken and chicken feet being served, everyone couldn’t wait to have a taste.

That first bite brought another wave of unprecedented surprise and excitement.

Although braised chicken and chicken feet had different flavors in various parts of the country, this version would probably be incredibly popular no matter where it was served.

Many members of this film crew were from other provinces, and they all found the braised chicken and chicken feet to be exceptionally delicious.

It wasn’t impossible to say they were even the best in the entire country.

This truly was a magical restaurant.

’Now let’s see what the other dishes are like. Could they also be called the best in the country?’

With only the braised dishes so far, they couldn’t yet say that all the food here was the best in the country.

Soon, the spicy crayfish was brought out. Once again, everyone eagerly dug in.

After one bite, they were certain. This might be... no, it was highly likely that this was truly the best crayfish in the whole country.

This was the ultimate flavor of crayfish.

This was a top-tier delicacy. To be able to eat crayfish like this was truly a stroke of luck.

Next, dishes like Agastache-flavored Crucian Carp, Chopped Pepper Fish Head, Mapo Tofu, Twice-cooked Pork with Garlic Sprouts, Stir-fried Shredded Potatoes, Boiled Cabbage in Broth, and Tomato and Egg Drop Soup were served one after another.

With every new dish they tasted, the film crew grew more excited.

Because every single dish was an exquisite delicacy.

Whether it was a high-end famous dish like Boiled Cabbage in Broth, or an ordinary homestyle dish like Stir-fried Shredded Potatoes, Twice-cooked Pork with Garlic Sprouts, or Tomato and Egg Drop Soup, each was cooked to its most ultimate flavor.

There was a very high probability that these were all the best-tasting versions of these dishes in the country.

They couldn’t be absolutely certain, but the possibility was truly immense.

Everything Wei Yang’s crew had said was true. Not only did this place have the best wine, but it also had the best food.

It was no wonder Master Guyi had come here and even painted a piece on the spot.

’For a connoisseur of fine food and wine like Master Guyi, this place must be heaven, right?’

One could only imagine how ecstatic Master Guyi must have been after tasting the food and drinking the wine here. Coupled with the warmth of the owner and the other customers, it was perfectly normal that he would be inspired to pick up his brush and paint.

Everyone in the film crew was deeply moved.

Yu Hai said, ”Yesterday, Lei Ming from Director Wei Yang’s crew strongly recommended we eat here. He said once we came, we would be extremely grateful for his strong recommendation. I didn’t believe it at the time. But now, I really am incredibly grateful. If it weren’t for him and his entire crew, we might have never known that such a magical restaurant was hidden in this remote, mountainous area. Lei Ming and the others said this was the best restaurant in the country, and I absolutely didn’t believe it. What restaurant would dare claim to be the best in the country? Not even the most famous ones would dare say that! But now, I wholeheartedly agree with them.”

After hearing what Yu Hai said, the other crew members chimed in:

”We really do have to thank them. Because of them, we got to drink the most wonderful wine and eat the most delicious braised chicken, chicken feet, spicy crayfish, Mapo Tofu, Chopped Pepper Fish Head, and more.”

”We came here today to find out the truth. The answer is unbelievable, yet also incredibly surprising and exciting.”

”Choosing to come here is one of the best decisions we’ve made for this movie since we started.”

”...”

After a moment of shared sentiment, Yu Hai turned to another star actor in the crew, Liu ZeLin. ”By the way, Lao Liu, I remember you’re from Xiang Province, right? This Chopped Pepper Fish Head is a famous dish from your region. Back there, I’m sure it’s delicious too. I’m curious, have you ever had Chopped Pepper Fish Head back home that’s better than this one?”

Hearing Yu Hai’s question, the rest of the crew, including the director Zhang Hongyi, all turned to look at Liu ZeLin.

Liu ZeLin said, ”Chopped Pepper Fish Head is indeed a famous dish from Xiang Province. We’re proud that it’s nationally renowned. There are many people in Xiang Province who make it exceptionally well. However, even their best version probably can’t compare to the one here. And the gap isn’t small, either. At least, I’ve never had Chopped Pepper Fish Head this delicious back in Xiang Province.”

The crew members weren’t surprised by Liu ZeLin’s words. They had suspected as much.

Yu Hai laughed. ”Lao Liu, who would’ve thought the best Chopped Pepper Fish Head isn’t in your Xiang Province, but right here?”

Liu ZeLin smiled back and said, ”I certainly didn’t expect the Chopped Pepper Fish Head here to be this good. But it’s not disheartening; on the contrary, it makes me proud. The owner must be very fond of our Xiang Province’s Chopped Pepper Fish Head to be able to perfect its flavor like this. He’s without a doubt one of the greatest chefs, perhaps even the absolute best. For Chopped Pepper Fish Head to earn the favor of a chef of his caliber is something to be proud of.”

Everyone, including Yu Hai, nodded in agreement after hearing this. What Liu ZeLin said made sense.

A lighting technician named Song Changgeng added, ”I’m a big fan of a famous dish from my Zhejiang Province, Longjing Shrimp. It’s pretty well-known across the country, too. I wonder if the owner will ever add it to the menu here?”

Hearing Song Changgeng say this, the other crew members all nodded. ”That’s right. Longjing Shrimp is also very famous. I don’t think I’ve ever had it, but I’ve heard of it.”

”Longjing Shrimp is probably just as famous as Chopped Pepper Fish Head.”

”Longjing Shrimp is from Zhejiang cuisine? This is the first I’m hearing of it. I knew about the dish, but I didn’t know it was from Zhejiang cuisine. Zhejiang cuisine is one of the Eight Great Cuisines, right?”

”Yes, it is one of the Eight Great Cuisines.”

”As for whether the owner will serve Longjing Shrimp in the future? We can just ask him directly!”

Yu Hai was the one who said this.

After he spoke, Yu Hai turned toward the entrance and called out, ”Owner, could you come over for a moment, please?”

After serving all the dishes, Li You had returned to his rocking chair at the entrance to rest.

He had excellent hearing, so he’d overheard the entire conversation among the crew. Naturally, he knew why Yu Hai was calling him.

’Longjing Shrimp, huh? That dish is indeed very famous.’

’If possible, I’d certainly be willing to add it to the menu. The only question is whether I’ll get a chance to obtain the recipe for Longjing Shrimp.’

’There should be a good chance.’

As these thoughts crossed Li You’s mind, he had already walked into the restaurant and approached Yu Hai’s table. ”Is there something I can help you with?” he asked.

Even though he already knew what it was about, he still had to ask.

Yu Hai said, ”Owner, it’s like this. We were wondering if you’ll ever add Longjing Shrimp to your menu?”

Li You nodded. ”I probably will. It’s a very well-known dish, and I personally like it a lot. I’ll likely add it in the future.”

”Really? That’s fantastic!” Song Changgeng was thrilled to hear this and said to Li You, ”Owner, I’m from Zhejiang Province. I’m really looking forward to you adding Longjing Shrimp to the menu.”

Li You replied, ”It would be my honor. I just hope I can do the dish justice when the time comes.”

Song Changgeng said again, ”I’m sure you’ll do a fantastic job, Owner. Even better than the best Longjing Shrimp in our Zhejiang Province.”

Li You quickly replied, ”Oh, I wouldn’t dare claim that.”

Song Changgeng said, ”There’s no need to be humble, Owner. I’m sure you have the skill.”

Li You replied, ”You’re putting a lot of pressure on me!”

Song Changgeng laughed. ”My apologies, my apologies. But I really do believe you have that kind of skill.”

Li You smiled as well and said, ”I hope so.”
