The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 304: Chapter 304- Tales From The Past— The Scripture Stealer

”The [Purgation Aura] creates a storm of fiery blades that destroy any enemy in its range. The white storm in the sky you all saw was the effect of the skill.”

The one to answer their question was Silvia, she slowly ate her meal and explained.

”Eh? How do you know that?” Vangeance questioned. Why is it that Silvia, a level 7 knight, know about a Holy Knight’s skills?

”It’s in the scripture of our Temple of Light. Once one reaches level 6 and becomes a knight of the order, they become eligible to know the secret and powerful skills of the order”.

These abilities and techniques were created by the founding commander of the Temple of Light, who passed his techniques to the first generation of knights who formed the order.

Over the next four to five generations, these pious knights dedicated themselves to refining and expanding upon the original skills. Each generation built upon the last. Until it reached the power and profundity that it has today.

The immense power of these skills, particularly the ones learned at a higher level, made them a closely guarded secret. Only those members who have stepped into the realms of knight and proven their loyalty to the order are allowed to learn these skills.

The squires nodded their heads. It made sense that the more powerful skills of an order would be tightly guarded secrets and their legacy. In that regard, their commander was quite an anomaly.

He taught the squires and even newly joined recruits, his powerful skills that were even more profound and potent than the ones taught in the Temple of Light. At that moment, their respect for Reinhardt increased even more.

That aside...

”Senior Vangeance, how come you don’t know about the higher level skills of the order, even though you have joined the Temple of Light for a long time now?” Kevin questioned.

It was understandable that they did not know about the existence of the order’s scripture and the higher level skills, being a squire and all. However, for Vangeacne, who had been with the order for a long time now and had even become one of the knights, not to know of it did not make sense.

When the matter of the scripture was raised, the latter’s face twitched intensely. The next second, he tried to miserably avert the topic.

”Haha, who knows, perhaps I just never bothered to learn about it. By the way, how long do we need to wait before the Air Engine arrives?”

His attempt was so obvious that everyone could tell something was wrong. That said, how could it be so easy to hide something when all your colleagues know about it?

”Pfft,” Silvia laughed. She then looked at Vangeance with teasing eyes before revealing something deeply embarrassing about him.

”You all want to know why this guy doesn’t know about the higher level skills?”

The squires nodded their heads. They didn’t know why, but they could tell it was going to be very interesting.

”Wait, don’t tell them anything.” From the side, Vangeance, flaring in embarrassment, tried to stop Silvia, but it was too late; the words had already left her lips.

”It’s because right after joining the Order of the Temple of Light, he tried to steal the scripture. Needless to say, he failed miserably and was even beaten black and blue for his offence”.

”O_O”

STARE...

All eyes stared at him, there was a strange emotion within them as if asking— Why would he do that of all things?
Vangeance felt their stares stabbing into his body like knives.

”Senior Vangeance, I’m disappointed. Even though you said you were a thug, but you never mentioned being a thief too.” To make matters worse, there was also this blabbermouth who spoke whatever was on his mind.

”Shut up!!”

BANG... he knuckled the boy’s head and then pointed at Silvia with great enmity. ”You witch, if you are going to say it, say it properly. I did not steal the Scripture. I just wanted to borrow its power to wipe the floor with my master”...

”At that time, I was just a young recruit hot blooded and filled with recklessness. I thought the scripture was being protected and kept a secret so tightly because it’s an incredibly powerful relic which can help me quickly defeat master”.

However, as it turned out, the reality was different. Indeed, the scripture could allow him to become powerful, but the item itself held no power. It just recorded the most powerful skills and techniques of the knight order.

The only way to get stronger was to grind his ass on the training and battlefield and master each of these skills. His dream of beating his master lay shattered.

”Right, right. I remember everything now. It was so funny seeing him getting whipped while being made to run 1000 laps of the training ground as punishment”.

Silvia recalled the scene as if it had happened yesterday and laughed. Vengeance blushed; the scene from those times was too embarrassing for him. His master beating him every single day to correct his behavior, and the humiliating punishments he had to suffer in the process.

In any case, thanks to his foolhardiness, he was never allowed to touch the scripture again by his master and could only practice the skills when he reached that level. Hence, he did not know the powerful skills of the order beyond his level.

Everyone, including Gwen and Delicia, nodded their heads. They felt like they had seen the younger days of this knight after hearing his story.

While the members conversed, on another corner. Reinhardt, on orders of the Queen, sat beside the two.

”This is not the royal palace. You don’t have to be too uptight all the time”. On her insistence, he put down his stew on the same table as them.

Whether it be his stature, his presence, his bearing, or his face, everything about him was so perfect that next to him, the king looked muted.

The only person who could actually match his presence on the table was naturally, the Queen.
