School Beauty's Personal Crazy Young Master

Chapter 237: Chapter 266 Ye Yiyi, You Fool!

Chen Nan was just over a hundred meters away from the thatched house when he burst into extreme speed and arrived at the front of the thatched house in the blink of an eye.

This hut was very simple, occupying merely about twenty square meters, its roof covered with a thick layer of white snow, the door tightly shut.

”Yiyi, are you in there?”

Convinced in his heart that this was his junior sister’s dwelling, Chen Nan shouted and, without waiting, pushed the door open.

Inside was just one room, furnished very simply.

A wooden table, a bamboo chair, a bed.

On the wooden table, there was also a teapot, with brushes, ink, paper, and inkstone set beside it. But Ye Yiyi’s figure was nowhere to be seen.

To confirm whether this place was truly his junior sister’s dwelling, Chen Nan strode inside.

The entire room was filled with a familiar scent, Chen Nan took a deep breath and, looking at the papers held down by the inkstone on the table, he reached out and picked them up.

On the snow-white paper, line after line was inscribed with brush writing that even surpassed Chen Nan’s skill, unmistakably Ye Yiyi’s handwriting.

”When will we meet again, harboring mutual yearning? This time, this night, oh how awkwardly embarrassing.”

As he looked at each character on the paper, stroke after stroke brimming with deep longing, Chen Nan felt a piercing pain in his heart. He knew he could never repay his junior sister’s affection in this life.

He flipped to the second sheet, which also bore a line of verse.

”To the ends of Heaven and Earth there is a limit, yet endless is the love-longing with no respite.”

With trembling hands, Chen Nan turned to the third sheet, which had Yuan Haowen’s ”Yanqiu Ci” written on it.

”What is love in this world, asking one to pledge life and death together? North and south of Tian Nan, the wanderers fly together, their aged wings weathering many a winter and summer. Joy and pleasure, pain from parting, amongst them are even more foolish men and women. You should have words, across thousands of miles of endless clouds, mountains covered in evening snow, whose shadow goes to who?

Xingfen Road, desolate as the year’s flute and drum, the wasteland smoke still over the flatlands. The summoning is of no avail, mountains spirits cry in the wind and rain. Even Heaven envies, not yet trustworthy, with swallows and sparrows all to dust returned. Through thousands of autumns and myriad eternities, left to wait for the poets, in wild songs and deep drinks, to visit the site by Yanqiu.”

There were over a dozen sheets of paper on the table, and as Chen Nan read through each one, by the time he looked over every sheet, tears were streaming down his cheeks, dampening his lapels.

It takes a certain place of heartbreak to shed the tears of a man.

Chen Nan folded the dozen or so papers and kept them close to his body. Every stroke on these pages was his junior sister’s deep thoughts of him. Although these were just a few sheets of paper, they were more important to him than anything else.

After wiping his eyes, Chen Nan came back to his senses and hurriedly rushed out of the thatched house to continue searching for traces of his junior sister.

However, he had almost run across the entire Fire Qilin Mountain and found not a single clue.

”Yiyi, where on earth are you!?”

Chen Nan’s long roar reached the sky, his booming voice echoing like a giant bell between Heaven and Earth, ascending into the Nine Heavens.

He clenched his fists tightly, his nails already slicing through his palms into the flesh, fresh blood dripping down his fists drop by drop. He no longer felt the pain; the agony in his heart now overwhelmed that in his hands by countless times.

His junior sister had taken all the risks for his sake, braving dangers alone; yet in the end, he couldn’t even find a trace of her, not knowing whether she was alive or dead.

Hate filled Chen Nan’s heart, hating himself for being useless, by the time he arrived at Fire Qilin Mountain, the danger had already occurred.

The great battle here clearly happened only in the last day or two. If he had arrived just a day or two earlier, things wouldn’t have turned out this way! Even if he couldn’t have seized the Mixed Element Fire Lotus, what would it matter, as long as his junior sister was safe?

”Ye Yiyi, you’re too selfish! My headache isn’t fatal; why do you have to risk your life for that damn Fire Lotus? If anything happens to you, how am I supposed to go on!?”

Chen Nan’s eyes turned red, and his fists pounded the ice on the ground, hating not only his own helplessness but also his junior sister.

He hated her for being foolish, loved her for loving him too much, and hated her for recklessly trying to snatch the Mixed Element Fire Lotus.

”You fool, you’d better stay alive, or I’ll never forgive you for as long as I live!”

Chen Nan’s fists relentlessly pounded the ice that was as hard as rock. Without using Inner Strength to protect his body, his fists split open, blood misting the air and staining the ice red. Yet, he pounded down again and again as if no pain could reach him, smashing the ice to create a hole half a foot deep.

After venting his frustration, Chen Nan collapsed onto the ground, utterly drained.

He was late. He didn’t know where to find his junior sister, didn’t even know if she was alive or dead.

As he sat there lost, uncertain where to turn, a loud voice suddenly came from behind—

”Amitabha, good, good!”

Chen Nan hurriedly turned and saw a ruddy-faced, disheveled monk approaching him.

The monk looked to be in his fifties, with a half-inch of hair on his head, unkempt as though it hadn’t been shaved for a long time. His gray monk’s robe was tattered, and his bright yellow kasaya looked unwashed, dirty and torn. Even the outermost kasaya was full of holes, lacking any semblance of a monk’s appearance; if not for his decent chanting of the Buddha’s name, one might have mistaken him for an impostor.

The monk walked neither hurriedly nor slowly, but with each step, he covered two to three meters of distance.

In just a few steps he was before Chen Nan, hands together in prayer, exuding an aura of a venerable monk, ”This humble monk’s rags have frightened you, Benefactor.”

Chen Nan had run throughout the Fire Qilin Mountain and hadn’t seen a single soul. Upon seeing the monk, he quickly got up and rushed over, ”Excuse me, Master, have you seen a girl in white clothes?” As he spoke, he hurriedly took out a picture of his junior sister.

The monk looked at the photo, excitement flashing in his eyes, and the image of the high monk dissipated instantly. He grinned, revealing a mouth of... golden teeth. ”The young lady is quite lovely indeed!”

As he spoke, his face was lecherous, and he swallowed his saliva.

Chen Nan was stunned. What kind of monk was this, with his eyes lighting up at the sight of a beautiful woman!

Putting the photo away, Chen Nan continued to ask, ”Master, have you actually seen her or not?”

The monk was still swallowing his saliva, his gaze blank as if still immersed in the joy of seeing the beautiful woman in the photo.

Chen Nan was speechless.

He had seen many monks, but such a lecherous, top-notch monk was truly a first for him.

About to turn away, it was at that moment the monk suddenly asked, ”Who is the young lady in this photo to you?”

”My junior sister,” Chen Nan answered, somewhat disheartened.

He had virtually given up hope on this monk. If he had seen his junior sister in person, he wouldn’t have been so amazed at the photo.

”So it is. Then, you must be Chen Nan,” said the monk, slapping his forehead with a sigh: ”No wonder this girl looked familiar. It turns out to be Ye Yiyi. What a pity, a real pity that there’s no share for this monk.”

Chen Nan was shaken all over, grabbing the monk’s shoulder and shaking it a few times, unable to wait any longer, ”You know my junior sister? Where is she?”
