School Beauty's Personal Crazy Young Master

Chapter 226: Chapter 256 Li Xiao Makes an Appointment

Huo Xinya panicked inside, feeling like Chen Nan had seen through her thoughts. She quickly said, ”What are you talking about? I... I haven’t!”

”Then why are you so nervous?”

”Nervous? Me? No way!” Huo Xinya shook her head, trying to calm herself down.

Chen Nan stared at her for a moment, ”I feel like you’ve been acting weird today. Is there something on your mind? If you tell me, I might be able to help you with it.”

After a moment of silence, Huo Xinya smiled and said, ”As long as you stay more devoted to my sister, and not flirt around outside, you’d be helping me a lot, solving my biggest concern.”

”Flirt around? Am I that unreliable?”

”It’s precisely because you’re unreliable that I worry,” sighed Huo Xinya deeply, lying back on the rocks, gazing at the night sky, and murmured, ”The day after tomorrow marks two years. I hope my sister comes back by then, so I won’t have to keep an eye on you.”

Chen Nan remained silent for a long time.

After more than ten seconds, he said firmly, ”in two more days, I’ll retrieve that half-scroll painting from Gongsun Yudie. Whether Yiyi comes back or not, I’ll definitely find her.”

”If my sister doesn’t return the day after tomorrow and we need to search for her, remember to call me to join you,” Huo Xinya said.

Chen Nan looked at her, ”Aren’t you afraid of neglecting your studies?”

”Studying is important, but if I can find my sister, I’m willing to give up everything,” Huo Xinya said very firmly.

Chen Nan smiled, neither refusing nor agreeing.

If he really had to search for his junior sister, Chen Nan wouldn’t want to bring Huo Xinya, not because she would be a burden, but because he didn’t want her to face danger.

”Hey, what are you two doing?” Su Qingqing’s voice came, as she had already arrived under the rocks, looking at Huo Xinya lying there and Chen Nan sitting next to her, her tone slightly sour, ”What are you doing, flirting so late at night?”

”We’re just looking at the seascape. What are you thinking?” said Chen Nan, annoyed.

Su Qingqing pointed at Huo Xinya, ”Denials, since it is looking at the seascape, then why is Xinya lying over there? Can you see the sea lying down? In the dead of night, you’re definitely up to no good.”

”Qingqing, what nonsense are you talking about?” Huo Xinya sat up, turning over, and said helplessly, ”I was watching the stars.”

”A man and a woman sitting together, one watching the sea, one watching the stars, you guys are really quite romantic.” Although it was a joke, Su Qingqing’s tone was laced with jealousy.

Huo Xinya jumped down from the rock, rolling her eyes at Su Qingqing, ”You dummy, always talking nonsense, he’s practically my brother-in-law, what romance would I play with him?”

That casual remark was, in fact, Huo Xinya telling Su Qingqing that Chen Nan and his junior sister were already committed to each other, so don’t you think about him.

Hearing this, Su Qingqing felt a wave of disappointment.

Yeah, the fool only has his junior sister in his heart, what use is my liking him?

Shaking her head to dispel these messy thoughts, Su Qingqing said cheerfully, ”Since ancient times, the relationship between a brother-in-law and sister-in-law has been the most interesting, what’s not romantic about it? Have you watched ’The Eight Trigrams’? Didn’t Azur love her brother-in-law?”

Huo Xinya was startled inside, her mind suddenly in turmoil.

That analogy by Su Qingqing was too fitting. In ’The Eight Trigrams’, Azur did harbor love for her brother-in-law, and the brother-in-law, Qiao Feng, only loved her sister Azhu. This situation seemed very similar to hers and Chen Nan’s...

No!

I’m not as shameless as Azur, I will definitely not fall for Chen Nan!

Huo Xinya shook her head vigorously, turning around and walking away, saying, ”You guys chat, I’m going back to the tent to sleep.”

”Xinxin, don’t go! Did I hit the nail on the head?” Although Su Qingqing was a bit jealous, she felt very smug seeing Huo Xinya flee in a panic.

”Stop talking nonsense, dummy, go back to the tent and sleep,” Huo Xinya said without turning back, hurrying her steps.

Su Qingqing stuck out her tongue playfully, then turned to Chen Nan and said cheerfully, ”Silly, did you notice Xinya blushed just now? Maybe she really has fallen for you.”

Chen Nan tapped her on the head gently and laughed, ”You always think about all this nonsense, your mind is too impure.”

Su Qingqing touched her head, ”But she really did blush just now.”

”You can see someone blushing on a dark night? You must have fiery eyes!” Chen Nan said with a helpless wry smile, ”Even if I believed every woman in the world liked me, I wouldn’t believe she has any feelings for me.”

Su Qingqing blinked her eyes playfully, ”Isn’t she a woman of this world too?”

”Can you stop being so stubborn?”

”But I’m right,” insisted Su Qingqing with an innocent face.

”Alright, alright, it’s getting late. Let’s go back and sleep,” Chen Nan said.

Chen Nan turned to leave, but Su Qingqing held him back, looking slightly upset, ”You can accompany her to watch the stars, why can’t you watch them with me?”

”You’re my cousin, how come I feel like you’re jealous?”

”What does being a cousin matter? Can’t a cousin be jealous?” Su Qingqing spoke bluntly, accidentally letting her real feelings slip, ”If it were ancient times or a few decades ago, cousins could even get married!”

Chen Nan was utterly stunned.

He stared at Su Qingqing for quite a while before asking, ”Are you confessing to me?”

”I... I...”

Su Qingqing felt her face heating up and stammered for a while before she finally mustered the courage to admit it. But just then, Lan Yuqin came over and said, ”What are you two cousins doing here so late? Everyone is getting ready to sleep, and you’re still out here?”

”Oh, nothing much, we were just talking about catching crabs earlier.”

With a giggly smile, Su Qingqing spoke and then hurriedly turned and ran toward the tent.

Watching Su Qingqing’s retreating figure, Lan Yuqin was a bit puzzled. Why did the girl seem so flustered? As if she had done something wrong.

...

With no further ado, the next day at noon, Lan Yuqin led the entire class to head back.

Due to the long distance, they sat in the car for a whole five hours, and it was after 5 PM when they finally returned to Ningjiang City, and by the time Chen Nan and the others got home, it was already 5:30 PM.

After a busy day, Su Qingqing and Liu Tiantian were a bit tired and took baths before heading to their room to rest. And Su Yixuan and the others were not at home, leaving Chen Nan alone and bored, wondering where to find some fun when Li Xiao called him.

”Little hubby, where are you?” Li Xiao’s coquettish voice.

Chen Nan had gotten used to this nickname since he was younger than her. ”Xiao Xiao, are you missing me?” Chen Nan teased.

”Mm-hmm, I miss you. Can you come out?”

”Where are you?”

”I’m at XXX intersection, can you come now?”

”Mm, wait for me.”

After hanging up, Chen Nan drove off in his old Jetta.

Though the old car was slow to accelerate, it could still reach 150 kph, and Chen Nan sped furiously, swiftly arriving at a crossroad where Li Xiao, dressed lightly, stood under an umbrella shielding herself from UV rays.

”Xiao Xiao, come here and let me see if you’ve lost weight,” Chen Nan parked by the roadside and called out cheerfully.

Li Xiao, who was looking around, suddenly heard his voice and quickly turned around, only to see Chen Nan staring at her with a mischievous grin.

”Little hubby!”

Li Xiao cried out joyfully, running towards Chen Nan, causing a stir among countless onlookers who stared with hooked eyes at her curvaceous body, and then glaring at Chen Nan full of jealousy.

Unintentionally, Chen Nan had become the public enemy of countless men on the road.

”Hey gorgeous, with all this fuss, are you trying to get others to kill me with their stares, or are you trying to prove your charm to me?” Chen Nan laughed as he grabbed one of her hands.

Li Xiao blinked her eye softly, ”I missed you, so I couldn’t help getting a bit excited.”

”Damn, a fine flower stuck in cow dung!”

”His mother, all the good cabbage has been hogged by a pig.”

”Crap, is it trendy now for ugly toads to go after swans? How can this ugly guy snag a beauty, yet a handsome guy like me gets no one? Is there no justice in this world?”

...

Regarding these curses, Chen Nan simply opted to ignore them and occasionally flashed a middle finger as the most ”sincere” thanks for their comments.

Compared to Chen Nan’s composure, Li Xiao found it a bit hard to stay calm.

After hearing the surrounding murmurs, she quickly pushed Chen Nan away and hid inside the old Jetta.

Chen Nan sauntered over to the car with a swagger, waving at the onlookers, infuriating those guys even more, wondering to themselves, weren’t all beauties supposed to like rich second-generation guys? Why would a man with an old car also get a beauty?

Chen Nan tightly embraced her, fondling her soft hair. ”You silly woman, do you know? If we keep this up, I’m only going to hurt you more deeply.”

”I don’t mind,” Li Xiao said. ”I’ve fallen for you, and even if you hurt me later, I’m willing.”

Chen Nan shook his head, ”But I will feel guilty.”

”I want you to feel guilty, to never forget me. Even if you find your junior sister later and we break up, you won’t forget me. I want you to always remember the name Li Xiao, the person who knows there’s no future yet still clings to you.”

Chen Nan held her tightly, saying nothing.

Li Xiao felt somewhat disappointed. She was hoping for Chen Nan to give her a promise of never leaving her, even if it was a lie, she would have believed it. But Chen Nan didn’t say a word.

It’s not that he was heartless or disloyal, but he dared not make a promise lightly.

Because once a promise is made, it must be fulfilled, but he didn’t have the ability to fulfill it, as his junior sister was still waiting for him.
