Chapter 37 -39: Look, there’s an Ultraman!

Chen Nan had just left the office when Huo Xinya came down from the rooftop. Her cheeks were slightly blushed, and several crystal-clear droplets of sweat hung on her forehead, a few strands of hair sticking to it, giving her a unique charm.

She must have been engaging in some intense activity.

Glancing at the office, Huo Xinya took out a pack of tissues and wiped the sweat off her face, took a few rhythmic breaths, and the flush on her cheeks quickly disappeared. Then, she quickly walked towards the office.

For the past week, she had been taking leave every afternoon to go home, but no one knew the reason for her leaves, not even Lan Yuqin, because each time she asked for leave, she only mentioned that there was a family matter and she had to go home.

If it weren’t for the fact that she was generally well-behaved and also had good grades, Lan Yuqin certainly wouldn’t have approved her leave.

This time was no exception, she went to the office to ask for leave.

…

In the afternoon, Huo Xinya took leave and went home, but Chen Nan was constantly thinking about how to clear up the misunderstanding with her, and improve their relationship.

Originally, Chen Nan thought that with Su Qingqing’s help in explaining, the misunderstanding could be cleared up. However, what he didn’t expect was that during the fifth period, Su Qingqing told him that Huo Xinya had already pegged him as a hooligan and refused to believe any explanations.

Damn, I clearly have a nice guy’s face, how do I look like a hooligan?

Chen Nan felt extremely frustrated, clenched his fists, and murmured to himself, “You little brat, don’t go too far, or I’ll be forced to use physical threats to make you reveal the whereabouts of the little junior sister!”

After the afternoon classes were over, the last period was a self-study session. Normally, the ringing of the school bell meant that school was over. However, today was different, because just before the class was about to end, the homeroom teacher, Lan Yuqin, walked into the classroom.

“There are two minutes left before class ends, I want to say two things.”

Lan Yuqin scanned the students in the class and said, “First, I’ve heard that recently some students have started dating and are hugging and cuddling in public places around the school, completely ignoring the school rules. As to who those two are, I will not name names for now. I hope everyone practices self-discipline. Right now, your task is to study, not to romance.” While speaking, she glanced at Chen Nan and Su Qingqing.

Chen Nan felt helpless. Was being a scapegoat easy? And now even the school rules were a prohibition. Besides, Su Qingqing still owed him 5000 yuan, and she hadn’t paid him yet!

As for Su Qingqing, when she caught Lan Yuqin’s gaze, she playfully stuck out her tongue and smiled.

Lan Yuqin felt helpless. Although Su Qingqing was naughty and mischievous, she had never done anything overly outrageous. Initially, Lan Yuqin did not believe the rumors of Su Qingqing dating Chen Nan, but as more people talked about it, Lan Yuqin began to suspect. Especially since yesterday, Su Qingqing had asked Chen Nan to bring sanitary pads, which was certainly unusual if they were just friends.

“I hope this will be a reminder once and for all. Let me not have to say it a second time.” Lan Yuqin glanced around the class and continued, “The second thing is, starting tomorrow, for the next week, there will be basketball games every afternoon. I hope everyone…”

“Wow!”

“Great! We don’t have to attend classes.”

“Argh…”

Before Lan Yuqin could finish, the classroom erupted with cheers, and a few fools even started howling like wolves.

No wonder, with the pressure of the senior year studies, having such an opportunity to relax naturally excited everyone.

Lan Yuqin made a quieting gesture and said with a smile, “Are you that happy about not having classes? Let me tell you, this school basketball tournament will involve eliminations. Our senior year has twenty-four classes, and tomorrow’s match is an elimination round. If you get knocked out, then for the next few days, the basketball court will be off-limits, and you will have to attend regular classes until the day of the finals, when you can go to be spectators. Of course, if you win and keep advancing, then you will be free from classes in the afternoons for a whole week. That is, if you get eliminated, you will have to come back to classes.”

Upon hearing this, the students in the class immediately let out a groan. Everyone was aware of Class Nine’s players’ skills, and winning seemed very difficult.

“Teacher, who will our opponents be tomorrow?” Suddenly, a student asked.

Lan Yuqin smiled, “The formidable rival, Class 12.”

Upon hearing the words “Class 12,” all the students felt a chill run down their spines. This wasn’t just a formidable rival; it was a godlike opponent!

Class 12’s basketball skills were ranked at least second in the entire senior year because they had three players from the school basketball team. As for Class 9, let alone having one school team player, they didn’t even have half.

Class 9 against Class 12 was undoubtedly like an egg striking the Earth.

“Everyone, have some confidence. Class 12’s players are also human, not gods. Don’t let others laugh at us for admitting defeat without a fight.” Seeing all her students looking gloomy, Lan Yuqin smiled helplessly, “Alright, there’s half a minute left before class ends, Chen Nan stay back, and the rest of the students can leave for home.”

Dismissed early, all the students cheered and dashed outside like lightning.

Su Qingqing looked at Chen Nan puzzledly, “Dumbass, what did you do this time?”

“I don’t know,” he replied.

Chen Nan shook his head, clueless.

“Hehe, then good luck to you, I won’t wait for you. Bye!” Su Qingqing waved with twinkling dimples and danced out of the classroom with a joyous face.

Chen Nan felt speechless, whenever he faced trouble, this annoying girl got as excited as if she had just won a five-million jackpot. Did he owe her something in his past life? Like…getting her pregnant but refusing to marry her?

“Heartless thing,” he muttered.

Chen Nan murmured, looking toward Lan Yuqin as she approached, “Teacher, did you want to see me about something?”

Now that the other students had left, only Chen Nan and Lan Yuqin remained in the classroom. She walked over and sat down on the desk next to him, extending her delicate hand: “Hand it over.”

Chen Nan was taken aback, “Hand over what?”

“Don’t play dumb with me.” Lan Yuqin glared at him and said, “The two hundred times school rules you were supposed to copy yesterday. I’m here to check them.”

“This…”

Chen Nan was frustrated, let alone two hundred times, he hadn’t even copied it twice, “Didn’t you say during noon at the office that my punishment was cancelled?”

“Did I say that?” Lan Yuqin feigned ignorance and glanced at him, adding, “I might consider cancelling it if you delete that recording. We can still negotiate.”

Chen Nan scratched his head, “What if I don’t delete it?”

“Then you’re going to sit here and finish it all before you go home!” Lan Yuqin stared at him intently, her tone more forceful.

“Is that so?” Chen Nan looked at her disdainfully and suddenly pointed outside the window, exclaiming, “Oh my god, Teacher, look quickly, there’s an Ultraman out there!”

Ultraman?

Lan Yuqin was momentarily taken aback, looking out the window instinctively, but there was no Ultraman, not even a trace, and by the time she turned back, Chen Nan had already run out of the classroom.

“You little scoundrel, stop right there, stop right there!”

Lan Yuqin roared furiously, bouncing up in rage and chasing after him furiously.
