Chapter 26: Chapter 26 You… You have a crush on me?

Chapter 26 -26 You… You have a crush on me?

The middle-aged man let out a cold snort, “Even if I die, I won’t tell, you can’t imagine…”

“Crack smack…”

Before he could finish, Chen Nan abruptly raised his hand and slapped him hard, seemingly convinced that without a taste of his own medicine, the man would never learn how high the sky was or how thick the earth, nor how painful a slap could be!

“If you want to die so badly, then I’ll just slap you to death today.”

As Chen Nan spoke, slap followed slap, relentlessly striking the man’s face. The sight had the other six people sweating bullets and feeling a chill in their hearts.

In fact, Chen Nan had noticed that the middle-aged man seemed to be their leader and surely knew more than the others. If he could subdue him, the matter would mostly be settled.

Su Yixuan watched from the side. Although she felt that Chen Nan’s methods were too violent, there didn’t seem to be a better way.

The crisp sound of slaps didn’t stop. After being slapped over sixty times, the middle-aged man finally couldn’t take it anymore. Having lost seven or eight teeth and looking exceptionally miserable, he said with a trembling voice, “I… I’ll talk, I’ll talk, please stop hitting me, I’ll say everything.”

“Damn, your skin’s so thick it’s made my hand hurt,” Chen Nan glanced at him and said, “Speak!”

The middle-aged man was angered but didn’t dare to show it, thinking to himself, it’s not like I asked you to slap me! Blaming me for your sore hand? Besides, is your hand more painful than my face?!

“We are from Zhao’s family… We… we were just following orders from above,” the middle-aged man said with a trembling voice.

Zhao’s family was a super clan in Ningjiang City.

Su Yixuan immediately frowned and asked coldly, “I have no grudges with Zhao’s family, why would you want to kill me?”

“We don’t…. know, it’s said someone put a price… a price on your head, but we truly don’t know who it is.”

Chen Nan swung his hand up again, smilingly teasing, “Buddy, are you not enjoying this feast enough? Will you talk or not?”

The middle-aged man, utterly terrified, trembled all over and begged for mercy, going so far as to kneel and kowtow, “I beg you, stop hitting me, we really… really don’t know, truly don’t know!”

Chen Nan looked at Su Yixuan and shrugged helplessly, “Looks like he won’t talk. How about we kill him and be done with it?”

“Don’t kill me, I really don’t know, please… please spare me,” begged the middle-aged man, his head swollen like a pig’s, continually knocking it on the ground, shaking all over in terror as he begged for mercy.

Having been softened up by a barrage of slaps from Chen Nan, he no longer had his earlier tough demeanor.

Seeing that he didn’t seem to be feigning ignorance but truly didn’t know, Chen Nan looked at Su Yixuan and asked, “To kill or not to kill?”

Su Yixuan was somewhat speechless. Kill someone? She couldn’t believe he could think of such a thing; she certainly wouldn’t dare to do it and quickly shook her head, “Don’t… don’t do anything rash, let’s call the police.”

Chen Nan nodded, “As you wish.”

After the call to the police, they arrived quickly.

However, as the parties involved, Chen Nan and Su Yixuan also had to go to the station to give a statement. After the hustle and bustle, it wasn’t until after eleven at night that they left the police station.

“Yixuan, where exactly were you planning to go tonight?” Chen Nan asked with curiosity as they sat in the car.

Su Yixuan turned her head to look at him and said, “I was going to attend a gathering and have you pretend to be my boyfriend for a bit, but after all that at the police station, it’s too late now.”

Pretend to be the boyfriend? Just a shield again!

Chen Nan felt an urge to curse. What kind of demon women were living in that Su family villa? Su Qingqing offered five thousand to have him act as a shield; Su Yixuan also wanted him for the role, but only offered five hundred; as for Eastern Yun Fei, although she didn’t ask him to be a shield, she had declared that she would seduce him…

Seduce him! For a woman to seduce a man, how would that sound if it got out?

Chen Nan felt depressed. These three women, although all so beautiful, each was more fierce than the last, literally to die for!

“What are you thinking about?” Su Yixuan suddenly asked.

Chen Nan snapped back to his senses, “No… nothing, that is, although the get-together is cancelled, I should still have my five hundred yuan overtime pay, right?”

“Uh…”

Su Yixuan collapsed inwardly, after all that, this guy was worried she’d stiff him on the money…

Seeing Su Yixuan not speaking, Chen Nan hastily said, “You’re not really going to stiff me, are you?”

“Am I that dishonorable?” Su Yixuan said somewhat gloomily.

Chen Nan let out a sly laugh, “Of course not. Your character is great!”

“Then what are you worried about?”

“This…”

Chen Nan scratched his head, smiling, “There’s always a ‘what if’, I’m just reminding you, in case you forgot.”

Su Yixuan rolled her eyes and pulled out her wallet, counting out five red hundred-yuan bills for him.

Chen Nan quickly took them, his heart surging with excitement—he finally had the money he earned! Holding money felt so good, hmm, he should find a time to get back that five thousand yuan he owed Su Qingqing!

…

The next morning, Chen Nan and Su Qingqing arrived at the classroom to find Huo Xinya already seated there.

Chen Nan was somewhat excited; Huo Xinya must know the whereabouts of the junior sister. However, his current relationship with her seemed a bit stiff, and he needed to smooth things over first.

Glancing at Su Qingqing beside him, Chen Nan asked, “Do you know Huo Xinya’s cell phone number?”

Upon hearing this, Su Qingqing immediately turned her excited face toward him, scrutinizing Chen Nan, and after a good while, she said with a giggle, “What’s this? Falling for the little beauty, are you?”

Chen Nan was somewhat speechless. Did wanting a phone number necessarily mean he was interested in her?

“Do you have it or not?”

Su Qingqing pouted her little mouth, showing two cute dimples, and proudly said, “Of course I do. However, you have to answer me first, are you into her or not?”

“No,” Chen Nan shook his head, “Give me the number.”

Su Qingqing scratched her head, “If you are not into her, then why do you want her number? Besides, you can ask her yourself, why ask me for it?”

“Isn’t it morning self-study now? I can’t go ask her.” Chen Nan said, “The beautiful, intelligent, gentle, and kind Miss Qingqing, just give me the number. I just want to send her a message, that’s all.”

Su Qingqing immediately pouted, pointing at Chen Nan’s nose and huffing, “Silly fool, you still say you don’t like her, and yet you want to send a message to hit on her.”

Chen Nan was extremely exasperated and could only explain in a low voice, “Where has your mind gone? It’s just that yesterday, when I went to the girls’ restroom on the fourth floor, I happened to bump into her, so I wanted to send a message to apologize, that’s all.”

“Hmph, liar!” Su Qingqing pouted, “Weren’t you the one who bumped into Jiang Xiaomi? How did it become her?”

“Actually, I ran into both…”

“Really?”

“Really!”

Su Qingqing scratched her head, unable to hold back a burst of laughter, “Never thought you’d be so unlucky. Hehe, since you don’t like her, I’m relieved. Here’s the number for you, 136XXXXXXXX.”

“You’re relieved because I don’t like her?” Chen Nan was taken aback, then gazed at Su Qingqing, exclaiming, “What do you mean? You… you’re not secretly in love with me, are you? If you have a crush, just say it!”
